Expert Picks (7)
Angelo picks Muñoz, noting his high ownership on DraftKings (38%). He thinks Muñoz is the better fighter and expects a finish, possibly by submission in round 2 or 3. He mentions Muñoz's smooth transitions on the ground.
Big Brady is very high on Johnny Muñoz Jr., praising his slick BJJ and noting he looked good in his UFC debut despite a point deduction. He believes Muñoz is better everywhere, including striking, and that Jamey Simmons doesn't belong in the UFC. He predicts an early finish, specifically a first-round submission, as Muñoz is a black belt and Simmons is a blue belt who will likely try to grapple.
Cody picks Muñoz, arguing that his BJJ is elite and that Simmons is not UFC caliber. He notes Muñoz's improved striking and wrestling, and expects a submission win. Cody thinks the price is steep but Muñoz should win.
Daniel Levi picks Johnny Muñoz Jr., but is sketched out by the wide line. He notes that Muñoz is a black belt in jiu-jitsu and should be able to get a submission, but acknowledges that Jamey Simmons is a former wrestler who could use his wrestling in reverse to keep the fight standing. He thinks the opener was more correct and that there is a path to victory for Simmons, but ultimately leans Muñoz.
Munoz is a high-level BJJ specialist with a strong grappling background. Simmons is a wrestler who wants to take the fight to the ground, but Munoz is confident in his grappling and can reverse or submit him. If Simmons strikes, Munoz has decent power and can invite takedowns to set up submissions. Munoz should find a submission in round two.
Paul picks Muñoz, citing his BJJ black belt and multiple submission wins. He notes that Simmons has poor durability and was finished quickly by lower-level opponents. Paul expects Muñoz to get the fight to the ground and submit Simmons.
The MMA Guru picks Johnny Muñoz Jr. over Jamey Simmons. He notes that Muñoz's loss to Nate Maness was controversial due to groin shots, and that Muñoz outlanded Maness in significant strikes. He believes Simmons will be hesitant after a first-round KO loss to Giga Chikadze, and that Muñoz has never been finished and has better composure. He predicts Muñoz will win a unanimous decision 29-28.

Suddenly finding itself on the main card after an unexpected COVID-19-related shakeup is a featherweight bout, as Chikadze (11-2, 4-0 UFC) looks to stay unbeaten inside the Octagon against late-notice replacement and excellently nicknamed “The Afro Samurai” Krause-Simmons (7-2, 0-0 UFC) – not to be confused with UFC welterweight James Krause. Chikadze greets his massive underdog opponent with an attempted flying knee, and referee Herb Dean is ready to take control if need be. Krause-Simmons circles on the outside to try to jab, and it is Chikadze that lands one first before winging a head kick just past his opponent’s bouncing hair. Krause-Simmons ties Chikadze up and tries to take the fight down, but the Georgia fights his way free and swipes at his man with a left hand. Both men stare at one another for a protracted period, before Chikadze launches a head kick that whiffs and a body kick that does not. Chikadze keeps his hands low as he feints and fakes his way in, and pops Krause-Simmons with a left hand, forcing Krause-Simmons to rush in for a clinch. Krause-Simmons nearly hits a body lock takedown, but Chikadze is too tall to take off balance for the five-foot-six newcomer. Krause-Simmons almost gets a trip off, but Chikadze stays on his knees, pops back up and fights his way free. Krause-Simmons punches his way in with a right hand, and a knee that follows comes up short.
Chikadze pounds his opponent in the liver with his patented “Giga kick”, and immediately slings a head kick that cracks “The Afro Samurai” and sends him crashing to the canvas. Dean is already racing in to stop the fight, but Chikadze unloads some heavy punches from on high until Dean can intervene.
This was an important performance for the Georgian, who had won his first four UFC bouts by decision leading up to this short-notice clash.

Big Brady picks Chikadze despite being a former hater, impressed by his improvements in takedown defense and ground game. He notes the size disadvantage for Simmons and predicts a finish, possibly by submission or knockout. He suggests looking at the inside distance prop.
Daniel Levi confidently picks Giga Chikadze to win by first-round knockout. He highlights Chikadze's significant improvements in every area, including distance management, stance switches, and submissions. Levi notes that Chikadze has been maintaining his cardio better and believes he will get his first UFC finish here, knocking out Jamey Simmons, who is a solid wrestler but outmatched on the feet.
The host expects Giga Chikadze to get a finish, likely in the first or second round, against a short-notice opponent with questionable cardio and a significant height disadvantage. He notes Giga's takedown defense and ability to get back to his feet. He plans to bet Giga inside the distance if the line is better than -200.
The MMA Guru picks Giga Chikadze to win by TKO. He believes Chikadze is too quick on the feet for Jamey Simmons and will make a statement. He notes Chikadze's improved power and ability to keep long-range fighters at bay.
