Andre Soukhamthath vs. Su Mudaerji

Round 1
Two men in dire need of a win inside the Octagon are up next at bantamweight, as Soukhamthath (13-7, 2-4 UFC) contends with China's Mudaerji (9-4, 0-1 UFC). The third man in the cage is referee Thomas Fann. Soukhamthath leads off with a leg kick, and Mudaerji replies with a side kick that draws a pop from the crowd. Landing a few more side kicks, Soukhamthath tries to fake a takedown to open strikes but the Chinese fighter does not bite. Mudaerji keeps his distance and unloads a few more kicks, going to the leg and body indiscriminately. Mudaerji stings Soukhamthath with a hook kick, but the Rhode Island native recovers and shoots for a takedown. Landing it for a second, Mudaerji gets right back up and Soukhamthath keeps the pressure against the fence. Soukhamthath tries to trip his opponent to the floor but is unsuccessful, as Roberts calls for more action. Mudaerji breaks free, much to the delight of his home country fans. Mudaerji cracks Soukhamthath with a straight left hand, and is able to avoid the counter kick from "The Asian Sensation." Throwing another side kicks, Mudaerji stays at a distance that is more effective for him, as he closes the round in style by scoring a few solid punches.

Round 2
According to the commentary team, Soukhamthath reported to his corner between rounds that he broke his hand. Despite this, Soukhamthath presses forward to start the round, and uses his striking to chain into a takedown, but he cannot land it. Mudaerji circles away, where he lands a straight left hand to the body and avoids a knee from Soukhamthath. The Chinese fighter uses his footwork effectively to stay away from power punches, and he sticks out his right jab a few times to great effect. As Soukhamthath presses forward, Mudaerji counters, and Soukhamthath fires back with some jabs and a charging right hand. Soukhamthath slaps his foe's lead leg with a loud leg kick, and follows up with a right hand that backs away the rangy kicker. Comfortable to let off side kicks without worry of reprisal, Mudaerji sits down with a left straight that marks up the face of the American. Soukhamthath leaps forward and partially lands enough to bounce Mudaerji off the cage wall, but Mudaerji recovers and dances around to take potshots while avoiding any counter. A four-punch combination scores and bothers the nose of Soukhamthath, who is backed up against the fence now. The second round ends as Mudaerji lands again.

Round 3
Mudaerji stays light on his feet as the final round begins, hopping back and forth while dodging a takedown attempt and landing several significant strikes. In an exchange, Mudaerji cracks Soukhamthath and forces the American to drop to a knee, but Soukhamthath gets up and presses forward to try to respond in kind. Soukhamthath throws a body kick, but his Chinese opponent catches it and whips him to the canvas. Taking half guard, Mudaerji drops down some short elbows while briefly trapping the left arm of his grounded adversary. Mudaerji postures up to throw some long right hands, and Soukhamthath takes full guard back in the ensuing melee. Mudaerji unleashes three straight elbows, and then stands up to throw a series of looping punches that bother Soukhamthath. The American tries to set up a few submission attempts, including a triangle choke and a leglock, but none are remotely close, as Mudaerji wades back into the guard of his foe and unleashes some more serious ground-and-pound. Soukhamthath rolls over to try to escape, and grabs an arm that make the Chinese fighter release him. Mudaerji reassesses the situation, and comes back down to unload another barrage to the body and head. When the 10-second clapper sounds, Mudaerji stands up and raises his hand in the air, confident in his victory, and the crowd loves it as the fight comes to an end.

The southpaw Jackson lands a straight left. Jackson lands an uppercut. Jackson with a long straight left. Soukhamthath lands a low kick. Soukhamthath grabs a hold of Jackson’s neck and lands a knee to the body. Jackson pushes forward and clinches Soukhamthath up against the fence. He’s able to grab a hold of Soukhamthath land a hard slam, ending up on top. Soukhamthath scrambles back to his feet. Jackson once again lands a body lock takedown and finishes the round on top in side control.

Round 2
Round two begins. Jackson with a long jab. Soukhamthath lands a low kick. Jackson lands another straight right. He’s being very technical right now but isn’t show as much aggression as in his previous fights. Soukhamthath moves forward but Jackson grabs a hold of him and clinches him against the cage. Soukhamthath is able to break free. Jackson has Soukhamthath against the fence and is landing some big, wild shots. Soukhamthath manages to hang in but Jackson is landing at will. He lands a massive right hand and Soukhamthath looks badly rocked but is somehow surviving the onslaught. Jackson grabs a hold of him and starts landing some knees in the clinch. He uses a body lock takedown to get the fight to the ground once again. Jackson stays strong in top control, landing some punches to the face of Soukhamthath, and the round soon ends.

Round 3
Round three starts and Soukhamthath needs a finish. Soukhamthath tries to land a high kick but falls down in agony due to a counter kick to the ground by Jackson. Clearly an accident but Soukhamthath is taking his time to fully recover. He says he’s fine and time is back in. Soukhamthath pushes forward and lands a double leg takedown on Jackson, who sweeps him and lands in full mount. Jackson is on top landing heavy punches to the face of Soukhamthath. Soukhamthath manages to regain half guard but Jackson is still landing hard punches from the top. Jackson is looking for a kimura and uses it to land some heavy punches to the stomach of Soukhamthath, who manages to scramble back into full guard. Jackson continues to land hard punches from the top. Soukhamthath tries for a desperation armbar but Jackson stacks him and slams him. Jackson is now in side control and continues to land ground and pound until the end of the round, and the fight.

Round 1
O'Malley takes the center of the cage and switches stances in front of Soukhamthath as the Rhode Island native cuts angles around the outside. "Sugar" lands an inside leg kick that leaves Soukhamthath limping, though the limp seems to have gone away a minute later. O'Malley goes orthodox and feints stepping inside, threatening to throw a long knee at his opponent's body. Soukhamthath is biting hard on feints from the prospect, and now he has his lead leg chopped out from under him by an O'Malley low kick. O'Malley fires a right high kick that lands under Soukhamthath's left arm with a loud thwack. O'Malley throws a kick with the left leg now and grazes Soukhamthath's midsection. Soukhamthath eats the next left kick from O'Malley, but "The Asian Sensation" does well to hide any damage. O'Malley is still stalking with 60 seconds on the clock, slamming a left kick into Soukhamthath's ribs. A right hand to the temple buckles the legs of Soukhamthath, but he jumps back up and seems to recover in record time. O'Malley tries to polish off his wounded foe with spinning kicks, but Soukhamthath will survive to see round two.

Round 2
Soukhamthath comes out with guns blazing, firing at O'Malley with both hands and backing up the flashy young prospect to the fence. O'Malley circles back to the center and reestablishes his range, popping Soukhamthath with a left high kick through the glove. Soukhamthath catches a body kick, can't make anything of it. O'Malley, working from southpaw, flashes long jabs in the face of Soukhamthath before blasting down the middle with a hard, straight left. Soukhamthath hits a quick takedown with 3:15 on the clock and immediately finds himself in deep trouble. O'Malley throws up a triangle choke, trapping Soukhamthath's head and left arm, but he can't quite cinch the submission. Soukhamthath unwittingly turns into the choke, allowing O'Malley to lock his left ankle under his right knee. O'Malley switches to an armbar, but Soukhamthath stands up and pulls free. Suddenly, it's Soukhamthath on top with two minutes left, having escaped two dangerous submission attempts. O'Malley sits up against the fence and catches Soukhamthath in a no-arm guillotine, then rolls him over. Soukhamthath pulls his head free and stays on his knees as O'Malley stands up and kicks him in the body. Soukhamthath complains to referee Mark Smith, but the strike appeared perfectly legal. O'Malley jumps on the kneeling Soukhamthath's back and goes for a last-second rear-naked choke, but time runs out.

Round 3
Soukhamthath quickly closes the distance on O'Malley and jams the youngster against the fence with a bodylock, looking for an early trip takedown. O'Malley keeps his balance and limp-legs away from Soukhamthath's subsequent single-leg attempt. O'Malley fires long left hands from southpaw, switches to orthodox and then back again to resume his jabbing. Soukhamthath is looking tired as he takes a stomping kick to the breadbasket, then a right hand to the chin. O'Malley lands awkwardly after throwing a right high kick, and Soukhamthath makes matters worse by buckling the knee with a leg kick. Soukhamthath hits a fast takedown and stands over O'Malley with three minutes left to fight. Referee Smith calls for work from Soukhamthath on top; the Rhode Island fighter obliges by posturing up and then passing to side control. Soukhamthath catches O'Malley sitting up and looks for a guillotine, but he can't find the choke. O'Malley posts and stands, barely putting any weight on his right leg. Soukhamthath lands another takedown, allowing O'Malley to stay in the fight. O'Malley climbs back to his feet and drops Soukhamthath with a spinning elbow. Soukhamthath gets right back on his feet and takes the barely mobile O'Malley to the ground again, much to the frustration of the blue corner. Soukhamthath keeps O'Malley on the mat for the final 30 seconds, and this one will go to the judges.
