Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Louis Gaudinot

Round 1
Gaudinot opens up with some inside leg kicks, including one which nearly knocks Horiguchi to the ground. The Japanese prospect keeps his balance and resets in the center of the cage, switching from southpaw to orthodox stance. Horiguchi flashes some kicks of his own, using a push kick to the stomach to send Gaudinot backwards. Horiguchi lands a right hand to the body of Gaudinot, who counters with a kick to the gut, then another a few seconds later. Horiguchi has a pair of punches blocked, so he uses another push kick to back up the American. Gaudinot keeps a high guard to block Horiguchi’s punches but keeps taking hard shots to the gut. Horiguchi instigates a clinch on the cage and drags Gaudinot to the ground, but “Goodnight” is back up a second later and finishes the round on his feet.

Round 2
Horiguchi puts together a body kick-right hand combination that knocks Gaudinot backward to the fence. Gaudinot recovers quickly and steps forward on Horiguchi, who hits him with an unintentional kick to the cup. Referee Herb Dean calls time but Gaudinot only needs a few seconds to recover. As Horiguchi rushes into range, Gaudinot tries to jump guard with a standing arm-triangle choke. Horiguchi seems unconcerned as he throws short punches at Gaudinot’s head until the New Yorker releases the choke and drops back to his feet. Horiguchi keeps the green-haired flyweight pressed on the fence for a few seconds, then backs out. With 1:40 left in the round, Horiguchi strikes with a pair of punches and a left high kick. Gaudinot circles the outside until Horiguchi catches up to blast him with a straight right hand. The right-handed counter is there for Horiguchi the next two times Gaudinot gets into range. Horiguchi catches a kick and slugs Gaudinot with a right straight before dumping him to the ground to end the second period.

Round 3
Gaudinot backs up Horiguchi with an early right hand, but the Krazy Bee fighter recovers quickly and comes back to launch a couple kicks in Gaudinot’s direction. Horiguchi comes down the center with a hard right, then cracks Gaudinot’s body with a loud kick. Good work from Horiguchi on both ends now, as he explodes forward with short bursts of offense -- right straights and body kicks -- and then sits back to answer Gaudinot’s advances with left-handed counterpunches. The flyweights clash kicks and Gaudinot apologizes for a possible low blow, but Horiguchi wants to fight on. Gaudinot looks to jump guard with a guillotine in the final 70 seconds but can’t get Horiguchi’s neck. Instead, they wind up in a clinch on the fence, Horiguchi on the outside. They break and wind up back in the center of the cage, trading strikes as the horn sounds.

Tim Elliott vs. Louis Gaudinot

Round 1
Elliott lands a couple leg kicks inside, but the fingers of his outstretched hand poke Gaudinot in the eye after just 15 seconds of fighting. Ref Herb Dean issues Elliott a verbal warning as Gaudinot recovers, and the flyweights get back to work. Gaudinot charges at Elliott, who is waiting to change levels and take “Goodnight” to the floor. Elliott tries a guillotine from guard and nearly gets flipped over the top, but he keeps heavy hips and stays on top. Gaudinot tries an armbar which forces Elliott to stand, and they resume striking. Leg kicks are working for Gaudinot now, while Elliott leaps in with a flying knee and pushes off with a front kick. Elliott tries to tumble into range with a forward roll and gets clipped by Gaudinot as he stands. Unfazed, Elliott keeps pushing forward to take down Gaudinot again. Elliott lands some heavy left hands on top before Gaudinot can establish his guard and cover up to deflect the strikes. Gaudinot tries to shift his hips underneath, can’t get out from underneath. Elliott stands and comes back with an axe kick to the body before allowing Gaudinot to stand. Elliott pins him against the fence and gets busy with knees and uppercuts, then puts Gaudinot on his back again with 30 seconds on the clock. Gaudinot is leaking blood from his nose as Elliott continues to pound away till the end of the round.

Round 2
Elliott moves Gaudinot around the outside with knees and push kicks before tying up on the fence. Gaudinot shoves off and just misses with a spinning back-fist before being walked down against the cage on the other side. Elliott is doing well to duck Gaudinot’s punches and get out of range, mostly sticking to the outside and working with kicks. Two minutes into the round, Elliott puts a two-piece combination in Gaudinot’s face and follows up with a knee. Gaudinot plucks his man with a right hand and jogs backward to reset. Elliott plows Gaudinot down with a double leg with 2:00 on the clock, then postures up to drop hammer fists and elbows on Gaudinot’s body and green hair. Gaudinot is doing his best to keep high hips and avoid the damage, but Elliott is too powerful on top, repeatedly coming back down to half-guard and roughing up the New Yorker with punches. As the 10-second clapper sounds, Elliott dives for a half-hearted leglock, drawing a theatrical finger wag from Gaudinot.

Round 3
Gaudinot gets off a right hand and an inside leg kick before being taken down once again. Elliott shoves his opponent toward the fence, staying active with elbow strikes while Gaudinot shrimps underneath and tries to escape. Gaudinot gets to his feet and puts a hand on the ground to avoid knees to the head, so Elliott knees the body instead. The flyweights separate and Gaudinot charges forward with a kick, then gets clipped with a spinning back-fist and taken back to the canvas in the center of the cage. Elliott has a partial crucifix, striking from Gaudinot’s back, then turns it into full mount. It doesn’t last long, as Gaudinot hip-escapes to regain half guard, but he’s not out of the woods. Elliott keeps a steady stream of left hands coming, then changes to rough, slamming elbows on Gaudinot’s chin and ear. Gaudinot has ceased any offense from the bottom in the last 60 seconds, as Elliott simply overwhelms him on top with relentless elbows and left hands to close out the fight.
