Nikita Krylov vs. Soa Palelei

Round 1
Palelei catches the opening kick from Krylov and elevates the Ukrainian with a double-leg. Krylov is warned by ref Al Wichgers for holding the fence; once Krylov releases his grip, Palelei is able to finish the takedown and get to work from half-guard. Palelei works some ground-and-pound but leaves his left arm laying in Krylov’s guard. Krylov grabs hold of the limb and traps it under his right leg. Palelei bashes him with hammer fists until Krylov lets go, then steps into full mount and begins bashing Krylov with punches. Krylov rolls over and slips out the back door, then stands and blitzes Palelei with a barrage of punches against the fence. Palelei looks to be in danger before the big men clinch up and the Aussie is able to latch on to Krylov’s back. After escaping a standing Krylov kimura attempt, Palelei hits another takedown at the base of the fence. Krylov throws up a triangle which Palelei escapes to take side control. Palelei tries an unorthodox neck crank, hooking Krylov’s head and leg, and nearly gets himself caught in an armbar before the end of the round.

Round 2
Palelei gets another quick takedown against the fence and resumes working Krylov with short punches. Krylov rolls over and escapes to his feet in slow-motion, then gets taken down by Palelei again after a few seconds of business on the fence. There’s not much happening on the ground, so ref Wichgers stands them up. Krylov rushes a clearly exhausted Palelei and roughs him up with punches on the fence. Knees, uppercuts and hooks rock Palelei, who is leaning over and barely defending himself enough to stay in the fight. Palelei finally starts throwing punches in the last seconds of the round, but it’s all Krylov down the stretch.

Round 3
Palelei slugs Krylov with a good right hand, but Krylov keeps coming and clinches the Australian against the fence. Krylov drops levels for a single-leg, and Palelei takes advantage of the position to thump his kneeling opponent with punches. Krylov goes to his back and Palelei steps into full mount, continuing to throw heavy hands as the ref hovers nearby. Krylov is not intelligently defending himself, so referee Wichgers steps in to halt the beating.

Derrick Lewis vs. Ruan Potts

Round 1
Potts steps backward and flicks out leg kicks while the heavy-footed Lewis creeps forward with his hands low. Lewis stuffs one half-hearted shot from Potts, then winds up clinched on the fence. Lewis winds up tripping Potts to the ground, but the big men are back on their feet almost immediately. A knee from Lewis catches Potts on the cup, and after a brief break for the South African to recover, Potts gives the “Beast” a few kicks to the body. Potts misses with one kick and tries to run away, bouncing off the cage and tripping to the ground. Lewis makes the mistake of standing over Potts, who grabs for a kneebar -- which appears to make Lewis tap once -- and then changes to a heel hook which Lewis escapes. Potts winds up on top in the ensuing scramble, but Lewis rolls him over from half guard and easily escapes another heel hook attempt. A big right hand from Lewis lands to the face of the grounded Potts, who drives forward and finishes the round working for a double-leg on the fence.

Round 2
Lewis just misses with a left high kick, then touches Potts with a left hook. Potts tries to clinch up and gets tossed to the ground, where Lewis uses a whizzer to take top position. Potts gets to his knees, and Lewis loops his right arm around the South African’s waist while bombing with left hands. Potts rolls to guard and Lewis stands up, then dives down into the prone man’s guard. Potts tries to isolate Lewis’ left arm, but he can’t and he winds up with Lewis flattening him from half guard. After eating a couple heavy right hands, Potts rolls over and covers up, leaving himself open for an arm-triangle choke. Lewis briefly considers the submission, then gives it up in order to take full mount and drop hammer fists on Potts’ face. Lewis has two minutes left in the round, slamming Potts with punches and elbows from full mount. Referee John McCarthy tells Potts to fight back, and when he does not, the fight is stopped.
