Round 1
Up next is a welterweight bout between Curtis Millender and Belal Muhammad. The referee is Marc Goddard. No touch of gloves and Millender immediately takes the center of the Octagon. Millender with a low kick and a left hook. Another low kick by Millender and he just misses landing a high kick. Muhammad just misses landing a straight right. Millender with a counter right hook. Another low kick by Millender. Muhammad lands Millender with a right hook to the body. Millender with a stinging jab. Millender with a left hook to the body. Muhammad starts to work off his jab but Millender moves away. He’s doing a great job of utilizing his reach advantage thus far. Muhammad moves forward and clinches Millender against the cage. Muhammad is working hard for a single leg takedown but Millender defends it well. They temporarily pause due to an eye poke on Muhammad. Time is back in and Millender lands another long jab. He stings Muhammad with a straight right. The 10-second clapper rings and Millender lands a hard body kick just before the end of the round.

Round three begins. Millender lands a hard low kick. Muhammad shoots for a double leg but Millender stuffs it and lands a hard knee on the exit. Muhammad moves forward and lands a right hook. Muhammad with a straight right and he changes levels and lands a double leg takedown. Muhammad moves into half guard and continues to pepper Millender with ground and pound. Muhammad moves into full mount. He continues to land hard punches to the face of Millender, who turns his back in desperation. Muhammad has back mount now with his hooks in and is looking for a rear-naked choke. Millender escapes the choke attempt but Muhammad continues to rain down punches and the round and fight are over.

Max Griffin vs. Curtis Millender

Round 1
Millender catches Griffin stepping inside and backs him off with a quick knee up the center. The big Californian lands a few heavy leg kicks, including one about 90 seconds in that puts Griffin on his knees momentarily. Two minutes in, Griffin gets inside and hits a quick takedown, putting Millender flat on his back at the base of the fence. Griffin keeps things tight as he works from half guard, chest-to-chest with Millender as he works to advance. Millender isn't doing much to escape, mostly wrapping up Griffin's arms to prevent ground-and-pound. Griffin postures up to land a couple punches, now an elbow, before Millender hugs him again. Griffin goes knee-on-belly with 20 seconds left and socks Millender with a few final punches before the horn.

Round 2
Millender swings some long punches in Griffin's direction at the start of round two, trying to keep the shorter man on the outside and away from his legs. Griffin gets backed up to the fence and has to scurry away as Millender comes flying at him with a sailing knee. Griffin rocks the head of Millender with an overhand right, tries to shoot inside and gets a knee to the body from Millender. Millender catches Griffin leaning inside to punch and lands a right high kick to the face. Griffin continues to come forward as they hit the midway point of the round, shoots for a takedown and has to bail as Millender threatens to catch him in a headlock. Millender slowly walks down Griffin from the center of the cage. Griffin tries to shoot, gets stuffed and kneed in the gut, then socked with a short punch before he can backpedal away. Millender finishes the round with a takedown and a few hammerfists in the final 20 seconds.

Round 3
Millender continues to dictate the pace and direction of the bout as he stakes out the center of the cage early in the final frame. Griffin tries to circle and angle his way inside, but Millender's rangy punches and kicks put him in the danger zone with each attempt. Two minutes in, Griffin gets hold of Millender and tries a takedown at the fence. Millender shows better defense this time, widening his base against the fence and even hitting Griffin with a knee as he fights off the shot. The welterweights separate with just about two minutes remaining. Millender touches Griffin with a jab, corners him near the fence and feeds him a sizzling right hand. Griffin tries to escape, but Millender walks him down and knees him hard, forcing Griffin to bail out again as the fight draws to a close.

Griffin lands a jab and a teep but Alves returns with another low kick. Griffin clips Alves and now has Alves is hurt. Griffin is landing on Alves but goes for a takedown and Alves is able to clear the cobwebs. They exchange strikes in the center of the Octagon. Fast pace to start this fight. Low kick by Alves. Round 2
Round two starts. Alves lands another low kick. Griffin returns with a jab. Alves is pushing forward but Griffin is using his reach advantage and jabbing him away anytime he comes in. Overhand right lands by Griffin. Low kick lands by Alves. Another jab by Griffin. Alves misses a left high kick but drops Griffin with a low kick. Griffin is back up and lands a teep on Alves. Alves lands a body kick to Griffin. He lands another body kick. Griffin digs in a left hook to the body but Alves lands a right hand on Griffin and has him hurt. They exchange wildly. They are going toe-to-toe against the fence but Griffin grabs Alves and gets a breather. Griffin is looking for a double leg takedown but Alves reverses it. Griffin is pushing Alves against the fence and they break apart. Griffin ducks down and looks for another double leg but Alves reverses it. Alves lands multiple left hooks and right hands but Griffin is hanging in tough. Alves lands a low kick. Alves is bullying Griffin and stalking him down. Alves throws a 1-2 and just misses a huge overhand right as the bell rings and the round ends. Great round by both men.

Round 3
The third round starts and both men exchange punches wildly again. Alves continues to land low kicks while Griffin continues to stick and move. Alves lands a right straight and gets into the clinch. Griffin lands a knee in the clinch. Alves goes for a spinning back elbow but Griffin ducks under and gets the takedown. Alves is able to get back up. Griffin gets the body lock takedown on Alves and is now in full mount. Alves gets him into half guard and briefly escapes before Griffin gets him back to the mat. Griffin is now looking to take the back of Alves but can’t get it. Alves is able to get back up to his feet and is finally able to escape the clinch. Alves lands a left kick to the body. Alves just misses an overhand right. Alves goes into the clinch and has Griffin against the fence. Griffin lands a knee. Alves is working for a double leg takedown but Griffin has his arm in a kimura and drops down to his back. Griffin reverses position and is now on top. The 10-second clapper ends with Griffin on top of Alves landing punches on him against the fence.

Jim Miller vs. Thiago Alves

Round 1
Miller walks forward throwing punches and has his head pulled down for a knee. The New Jerseyan starts finding his mark with punches shortly afterward, then catches a kick on the shoulder and uses it to run Alves to the floor. Alves scoots backward to the fence, Miller in his half guard. Miller catches Alves trying to stand and tries to take the Brazilian’s back, but he’s prevented by the fence. Alves whips around and quickly scrambles to his feet, and the fighters split with 80 seconds on the clock. Alves goes to the body with a right kick, answered in kind by Miller on the left side. Miller plunges down the center with a straight left, then denies Alves’ attempt at a Thai plum by running him to the wall. Alves gets the last word with a straight right hand.

Round 2
The fighters keep their distance through the first minute of round two. Alves scores with a few leg kicks as he works from the center of the cage, working Miller around the outside. Miller shoots for a long single-leg, sprawled on by Alves, who works back to his feet with just over three minutes left. Miller shoots again and completes the takedown this time, quickly passing to half guard and working toward side control. Miller looks like he’s framing up an arm-triangle choke, but he switches to a guillotine setup as Alves begins to work his way up the fence. Alves slips free and marches forward on Miller with one minute left, hitting the local favorite with a kick to the body. Miller gets hold of a leg but can’t complete the takedown this time. Alves marches forward again and walks into a short standing elbow, then a right hand. Miller eats a shot, too, and returns to his corner with a bloody nose and a small cut near his left eye.

Round 3
Alves looks to be gaining some steam as he presses forward on Miller in the opening minute of the final round, stringing together a few punches and low kicks. His momentum is halted, however, when Miller times a kick and shoots forward, plowing Alves to the canvas in the center of the cage. Miller sits up in Alves’ half guard and works to advance while Alves tries to stand. Halfway through the round, Alves powers back to his feet, thwarting Miller’s attempted back-take in the process. Miller catches Alves coming in and hits the Brazilian with a hard left kick to the ribs, then a straight left hand. Alves gets in one kick of his own before Miller shoots and floors him with yet another takedown. Straight to half guard goes Miller, now with 90 seconds on the clock. Alves rolls to his knees, then onto his back again when Miller tries to take the back. Miller stands and grabs a guillotine, then drops to guard, but he quickly flips back to top position when Alves pops his head free. The clock is ticking down with Miller in half guard, now north-south position as Alves kneels. Miller tries the guillotine again and winds up on his back with Alves dropping punches for the final 20 seconds.
