Round 1
Lanky middleweights Ruziboev and Pulyaev engage at a word from referee Marc Goddard. Pulyaev is southpaw, Ruziboev orthodox. Pulyaev is mobile early, circling around the outside as Ruziboev moves more conservatively, cutting off the cage and reaching out with range-finding jabs. Ruziboev grabs a snatch single-leg and dumps Pulyaev to his seat at the base of the fence. Pulyaev stands back up, and Ruziboev drags him to the canvas once more, moving to the Russian’s back and going supine in the middle of the cage with nearly three full minutes to work. Pulyaev guards his neck and tries to sit up, but Ruziboev is ultra-patient, locking up a modified body triangle, boxing Pulyaev’s ears with short punches and looking for a chance to reapply the choke. This is like watching a python swallow a goat. Ruziboev sinks an arm under the chin and squeezes, and Pulyaev is astral traveling within seconds. The man is out cold, eyes wide open, and Goddard steps in for the save. Ruziboev gets up to celebrate, leaving Pulyaev facedown and snoozing. Wow.
The Official Result
Nursulton Ruziboev def. Andrey Pulyaev R1 3:58 via Technical Submission (Rear-Naked Choke)
AJ picks Ruziboev due to his veteran savvy, 47-fight experience, and 20 submission wins. He thinks Pulyaev's resume is thin and that Ruziboev can outwork him, possibly mixing in takedowns. He expects the fight to go over 1.5 rounds and likes Ruziboev by decision or late finish.
AJ thinks Ruziboev can outgrapple Pulyaev and win a decision or submission. He notes Pulyaev is not physical, skinny, and lacks damaging power, while Ruziboev has a decent ground game and hits harder. AJ expects Ruziboev to bully Pulyaev in the clinch and on the mat.
AJ DeVito mentions Nursulton Ruziboev by submission at +1000 as a DGEN prop, noting he has many submission wins. He is not overconfident but thinks it's live.
AJ leans towards Ruziboev by decision, citing his superior MMA grappling, experience (47 pro fights), and ability to control the cage. He expects Ruziboev to outwork Pulyaev over three rounds, mixing in clinch work and takedowns. Pulyaev is durable but less versatile.
Angelo includes Ruziboev in a parlay of confident picks, suggesting he expects him to win. No further analysis is provided in the transcript.
Angelo is very confident in Nurullo, citing his well-rounded skills and size advantage. He believes Nurullo will mix in takedowns and win on the ground or striking. He notes that Andre Pulyaev is tough but that this matchup is worse for him than his last fight. He thinks -225 is a discount.
Angelo picks Ruziboev, highlighting his wrestling and grappling skills from regional tape. He notes that Ruziboev is a good striker and a very good grappler, and expects him to win by wrestling after getting jabbed a few times. He is surprised the line is tightening.
Big Brady picks Andrey Pulyaev to win by decision, though he dislikes the fight. He notes Pulyaev runs away and throws low-volume kicks, but Ruziboev is also low-volume and won't grapple. Brady thinks Pulyaev's 'BS' striking might be enough to win a terrible decision, calling it a potential 'worst fight in UFC history.' He will not bet on it.
Cody passes on this fight, not having strong conviction. He might consider a Ruziboev round one prop at plus 300, but otherwise no play.
Daniel Levi leans towards Nursulton Ruziboev, citing his urgency and willingness to push the pace compared to Andrey Pulyaev, who tends to get on his bike and not do enough. He respects Pulyaev's durability and craftiness but believes Ruziboev will try harder and take the fight to him. Levi expects a competitive fight but trusts Ruziboev's gas pedal more.
Jacob picks Ruziboev by submission, noting his submission arsenal is more dangerous than anything Pulyaev has faced. He thinks Ruziboev has sneaky power and can finish via submission or KO. He likes the submission prop at a good price.
Lucrative James picks Andrey Pulyaev despite it being a risky pick, because he believes Pulyaev's activity, body shots, and improving striking will be key. He notes that Ruziboev has cardio issues and doesn't look good outside round one, and that Pulyaev has faced tough competition recently. He expects Ruziboev to hurt Pulyaev early, but Pulyaev to take over in rounds two and three and win a decision.
The host is not a big fan of Ruziboev but thinks this matchup allows him to land big shots on Pulyaev and mix in his grappling. He predicts a submission victory for the Uzbek native.
Ruziboev is aggressive and will bully Pulyaev, finding a big shot to wobble him and then jumping on a submission. Pulyaev has a striking base but Ruziboev's pressure and reach disadvantage for Pulyaev should allow Ruziboev to control the pace. However, Ruziboev is not a favorite to play at chalk.
Paul picks Pulyaev as a dog, citing his southpaw stance, volume, and reach advantage. He notes Ruziboev's low volume and limited skills, and believes Pulyaev will outwork him. He sees value at plus money.
The Guru leans with Pulyaev via decision, considering him a live underdog. He notes Pulyaev's mobility, southpaw stance, and difficulty to finish, while Ruziboev has not fought in a while and may struggle with Pulyaev's range and kicks. He sees it as a pick'em fight.
Angelo has been a big supporter of Ruziboev since his UFC debut and picks him here. He highlights Ruziboev's wrestling and grappling prowess, his size at 6'5, and his power, noting that Battle missed weight and is moving up to middleweight where his power may not carry. He believes Battle is not big enough for the weight class and that Ruziboev's chin and skills will prevail. He bet on Ruziboev at +150.
Big Brady picks Nursulton Ruziboev to win by second-round knockout. He notes Ruziboev has massive size, reach, and power, and that Battle has poor striking defense (44%). He thinks Battle will walk into big shots and could get knocked out. He also mentions Ruziboev's takedown defense is improving and Battle is not a wrestler at middleweight. He acknowledges Ruziboev is low volume but dangerous, and could win by damage-based decision or knockout.
Connor agrees with Zane, picking Ruziboev. He notes that Battle's pressure and aggression vanished against Randy Brown, and that Ruziboev is a good-sized middleweight who can out-wrestle Battle in the clinch. He thinks Ruziboev's positional fighting inside is better than Battle's. He acknowledges that Ruziboev's wins have been against lower-level competition, but believes this matchup favors him.
The Guru picks Nursulton Ruziboev to win by TKO in the first two rounds. He believes Ruziboev's height and reach advantage will be problematic for Bryan Battle, who won't be able to use his physicality as he did against Randy Brown. The Guru notes that Ruziboev is a dirty fighter who will cheat to win, extending fingers and grabbing the cage. He also mentions Ruziboev's dynamic movement and ability to dart in and out, which will be difficult for Battle to handle.
Zane picks Ruziboev, despite thinking of him as a can crusher. He notes that Battle does not like fighting tall, long opponents and looked wary against Randy Brown. He thinks Ruziboev will out-clinch Battle with head position and underhooks, and that Battle's positional clinching is poor. He acknowledges Ruziboev's thin game but believes his strengths match up well against Battle's weaknesses.

Round 1
From one action fight to another we go, this time in the middleweight division. Stoltzfus (16-6, 3-5 UFC) has only gone the distance twice in his eight UFC outings, while all three wins inside the Octagon for Ruziboev (35-9-2, 2 NC; 3-1 UFC) have come by knockout. Referee Chris Tognoni knows he very well might be needed before the final horn. There is a no glove touch, as Stoltzfus declines to do so. Ruziboev accepts this and lets go with an early leg kick. Stoltzfus pulls back on a body kick, but Ruziboev does not do that as his lands flush. The Uzbekistani fighter scores a calf kick, and Stoltzfus does the same. The calf is the target for Ruziboev, until he swings his way in with two booming punches. Stoltzfus tries to grab hold of the taller man, but Ruziboev tosses him aside and lines up a straight right hand. The two clash heads together, and Stoltzfus manages to land the cleaner of the two and knocks “Black” to his seat. Stoltzfus rushes forward and jumps guard with a guillotine choke, and he steps into full mount and wraps the submission up and under the chin. Ruziboev pats Stoltzfus’ backside but it is not registered as a tap, and Stoltzfus imposes his weight to complete the maneuver. Ruziboev thinks about giving up but explodes to flip Stoltzfus over, and he gets into the guard and just hangs out there to get his wits back about him. Ruziboev postures up to drop down a punch and an elbow, and Stoltzfus works his way up and ignores a guillotine setup from his opponent. Stoltzfus times a spinning back elbow to break, and the two split up. Ruziboev opens up with a left hand and a spinning back kick, and his second spin kick misses as Stoltzfus cracks him with a counter. Ruziboev bounces around to shake it out, leaping forward to deliver single punches that connect each and every time. Stoltzfus is tough as can be, but Ruziboev slugs him in the chops until he wraps his arm around the Pennsylvanian and wrangles him to the mat. The bell sounds, to the surprise of many.

Round 2
The second round opens with a head kick from Ruziboev after a bit of measuring. After some more timing, Ruziboev lets loose a spinning wheel kick that bangs square into Stoltzfus’ head. Stoltzfus swings his way forward, catching Ruziboev and putting him on his heels. Stoltzfus pursues a takedown, and Ruziboev defends with a kimura. Stoltzfus fights it off and lowers Ruziboev to his back, his nose pouring blood from a particularly nasty uppercut. Stoltzfus gets in half guard and pursues an arm-triangle choke, letting it go to bash Ruziboev with punches and short elbows. Stoltzfus sets up another guillotine choke and leans to the side, and Ruziboev turns to defend it. This allows Stoltzfus to briefly pursue a brabo choke, only to let it go when he does not have the right leverage. Ruziboev powers back to his feet and finds himself in guillotine danger once more, but the blood covering Ruziboev’s melon plus the fatigue setting in allows him to slip out. Ruziboev counters with a knee to the body, and he smacks Stoltzfus with a hammerfist and inadvertently headbutts him. Ruziboev keeps slugging away, and Stoltzfus snatches up a leg and turns into it to drag Ruziboev down to a knee. Ruziboev pulls on the fence to defend it, as Tognoni shouts at him to knock it off. The damage is done from the foul, as Ruziboev escapes and lowers himself down to start pounding on the bloodied Stoltzfus again. Stoltzfus sways to avoid the worst of the ground-and-pound, and he lands his own sneaky shots off his back right before the horn.

Round 3
The last round kicks off with both men taking a moment to analyze the other. Ruziboev darts in with a jab and a body kick, and Tognoni warns that the kick went south of the border. Stoltzfus is no worse for wear, and he lets the fight continue. Clubbing Ruziboev’s lead leg with his shin, he knocks the taller man to his seat and times a right hand to drive into his jaw. Ruziboev twists around to stand back up, and he parries a front kick aimed at his chest. Stoltzfus rushes at him, ducking a punch to tie his man up, and Ruziboev darts away in time. Ruziboev reaches his target with a left hook, and Stoltzfus kicks him in the front leg. Ruziboev times a right hand over the top, and he spins and drills Stoltzfus in the face with a wheel kick. Stoltzfus takes it on the chin and lashes out with a right hand, and he gets knocked back with an overhand right counter that bangs into his gloves. Stoltzfus lets fly his own spinning wheel kick, and it clatters off the guard. Ruziboev does the same. They crack one another with single right hands, and then connect with hard lefts. As Ruziboev swings for the fences, Stoltzfus tackles him to the ground and lands in half guard. Stoltzfus imposes his weight while not getting much offense off, looking instead to advance position. Tognoni asks Stoltzfus for more activity, as Stoltzfus is solely covering his foe’s mouth but not offering any strikes. Stoltzfus climbs into mount with 50 seconds to go, and Ruziboev scrambles like a madman to get to his knees. Stoltzfus wraps up the beginning of a brabo choke, and when Ruziboev fights through it, he transitions to a guillotine. Ruziboev pulls out of it, and he delivers a spin kick to the ribs. Ruziboev nails the American with a right hand, and they proceed to miss with spinning strikes before time expires. They raise their fists in the air after 15 minutes of bloody combat.

The Official Result
Nursultan Ruziboev def. Dustin Stoltzfus via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
Angelo picks Nursulton Ruziboev confidently, calling him an absolute beast. He highlights Ruziboev's massive 6'5" frame, wrestling and grappling prowess, and a good chin. He notes that Ruziboev's only UFC loss was to Buckley at 170 lbs, which is credible. Angelo expects Ruziboev to be patient, eat a few shots, and then pour it on later. He finds the -280 odds affordable and suggests the over might be sneaky good if a round line is available.
Big Brady picks Dustin Stoltzfus as a plus-240 underdog, citing Ruziboev's poor takedown defense and lack of volume. He believes Stoltzfus can take Ruziboev down and control him, making Ruziboev's power useless. He expects a decision win if Stoltzfus fights smart.
The host acknowledges Ruziboev's power and striking advantage but notes he has been grinded out by lesser grapplers. He believes Stoltzfus, with his BJJ black belt and wrestling improvements from Extreme Couture, can get Ruziboev to the ground and grind him out from top position, either winning on the scorecards or finding a submission.
The Guru picks Nursulton Ruziboev, calling him a dirty fighter who moves well and has a ton of experience. He thinks Ruziboev is better at middleweight with more power. He notes Stoltzfus has been styled on by opponents like Bruno Ferreira and doesn't see a path to victory. He predicts a TKO in the first or second round.

Moving right along, two men that rarely leave matters to the judges will clash to start building momentum in the wide-open middleweight category. After a tough loss, Ruziboev (34-9-2, 2 NC; 2-1 UFC) is returning to 185 pounds, and he will be welcoming Tuff-N-Uff vet McConico (9-2-1, 0-0 UFC) to the world-famous Octagon. Referee Keith Peterson is on guard, ready to step in at a moment’s notice and bust up any nonsense. A fist bump precedes the action, and McConico opens up with a slapping low kick as “USA” chants loudly echo throughout the building. McConico parries a front kick fired at him and chambers a head kick in response, only to not let it go. As the fighters circle one another without much activity, the fans let the fighters have it with a swath of boos. Ruziboev tries to answer their calls for action with an overhand right, but he misses the mark by a wide margin. Ruziboev tries for another as a counter, and he skims the side of the head when McConico attempts a kick. McConico is out of range with most of his strikes, and Ruziboev reaches him at the end of a right hand right on the pectorals. Ruziboev jams a front kick to the liver, and he is answered with a low kick. Ruziboev surges forward with a right hand, and he shakes his head when McConico fails on a counter. Ruziboev blitzes after another lull in action, and a second flurry gets his hands on his opponent. McConico rips a kick to the ribs, and “Black” wraps him up and pushes him to the fencing. Dirty boxing from the newcomer allows him to break out of the tie-up, and he has a head kick slap off the raised guard to little impact. The crowd is not impressed, even as Ruziboev marches forward and zings a few straight punches down the middle. A low kick from McConico is answered by a one-two, and this exchange happens a second time. The Uzbekistan ends the round with a body kick and a right hand.

Round 2
The fighters clap hands to get going, and McConico is energized as he puts a pair of punches on the chin to reintroduce himself. Ruziboev fires right back, and this slugfest is exactly where McConico does not want to be. The taller, longer man unloads and nails McConico with a strong combination of punches, causing McConico to wobble and stumble his way to the fence. McConico falls to his face and works his way up under fire.
Ruziboev chases, swinging with all his might, allowing the newcomer to get back to his feet so he can blast him once more with several relentless right hands. As McConico hits the deck a second time, Peterson has seen enough, with McConico turning to his side and in a bad, bad way.
The victor walks off screaming, letting out all of his remaining emotions after registering the knockout. That marks 33 finishes in the 35 wins for the Uzbekistan native, who at 6-foot-5 will be a tough matchup for a lot of fighters in the weight class. To make matters more interesting, Ruziboev informs commentator Michael Bisping that he is willing to fight at either 77 or 84 kgs, meaning 170 pounds or 185 pounds.
The Official Result
Nursulton Ruziboev def. Eric McConico R2 0:33 via TKO (Punches)
Angelo is confident in Nursulton Ruziboev, noting he is a big middleweight with wrestling and power, and that this weight class suits him better than welterweight. He thinks McConico is not dangerous enough on the feet to pose a real problem, and expects Ruziboev's wrestling to be a big advantage. He assumes both fighters are in shape despite short notice.
Big Brady picks Nursulton Ruziboev but hates the -300 price tag, calling it unwarranted. He notes that Ruziboev hasn't proven much in the UFC, with wins via eye poke and one-punch knockout, and was taken down by Warlley Alves for three rounds. However, he thinks Ruziboev's size, length, and power will be too much for Eric McConico, who has durability issues and is coming in on short notice. He predicts a first-round knockout.
The host notes McConico is on short notice but in shape from a recent fight. He expects McConico to use a game plan similar to Buckley's, keeping Ruziboev on his back and out of danger, winning on the scorecards.
The Guru picks Ruziboev based on 'light man skill' and experience fighting at welterweight, implying he had to be good to win there. He criticizes McConico's late-career signing at age 34, lack of finishing potential, and weak resume. He expects Ruziboev to piece him up and finish him.

Round 1
Ever since moving down to 170 pounds, the 5-foot-8 kickfighter Buckley (18-6, 8-4 UFC) has found a new lease on life, even if he tries to move up a more logjammed division with contenders waiting ages for title shots these days. Looking to crash that party will be Uzbekistan finisher Ruziboev (34-8-2, 2 NC; 2-0 UFC), who has shifted back and forth from welterweight and middleweight over the years. Knowing that one of these men may need smelling salts in the foreseeable future, referee Keith Peterson is ultra-prepped and ready for the nonsense-free proceedings. There is a stern staredown between the two that ultimately results in no touch of gloves. Buckley crowds his way forward to begin, and he backs away from a front kick that is aimed his direction. Buckley shifts to the left and right while trying to find his way in, and Ruziboev is warned for outstretched fingers. Ruziboev reaches with a right hand, and Buckley comes at him swinging. Ruziboev ducks away from a huge overhand left, and he tries to line up straight shots to intercept the shorter man coming in. Ruziboev misses another front kick, and he lets Buckley fly past him when Buckley is winging shots. The crowd starts chanting “USA,” and Buckley absorbs this energy and surges forward, where he takes a flush flying knee to the body and tackles Ruziboev to the ground. Buckley is wrapped up when landing on top, with Ruziboev hooking his arms around Buckley’s to hope for a stalemate that results in a standup. Buckley is pushed away, and he swings when Ruziboev fights back to his feet. Ruziboev returns fire and clips him, and Buckley retreats only to sprint forward and smash straight into Ruziboev’s chest to put him flat on his back. Buckley decides after landing a few strikes to stand back up, and Ruziboev follows him up. Buckley hops away from a front kick and scores a low kick, and his jabs as well out of range. Buckley keeps his guard up to block a high kick, and his blitz of a few looping strikes come up short. Buckley raises his hand in the air as he circles away, and he tells Ruziboev to fight him. Ruziboev motions to come get him, and Buckley answers as he leaps forward throwing wild hooks. Buckley spins with a back kick that is brushed off, and he walks off disappointed. Ruziboev runs at him and jumps with a flying knee, but Buckley is elsewhere as the round concludes.

Round 2
Buckley appears to have a fire lit in his belly as he starts the second round, as he races forward and releases a big kick early. Ruziboev retreats and measures Buckley with a right hand. Buckley resets and blazes forward, ripping Ruziboev off of his feet and tossing him down to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Ruziboev uses his offensive guard to kick Buckley off of him, and Buckley allows him to get back up. Ruziboev gets off a right hand that partially connects, and Buckley closes in and lands as body shot. Ruziboev trots forward with his arms outstretched, and he walks into a front kick to the sternum. Buckley chases Ruziboev around and shrugs off a right hand so he can unload with body shots. Buckley takes a flush knee and responds with a right hook that lands cleanly. Buckley is struck with another knee on the way in, and is still struggling to find the range. A side kick from “New Mansa” finds its target, and his guard is high enough to block a straight right hand from his foe. Ruziboev splits the guard with a front kick and hops away from winging hooks that whiz past him. Buckley starts pointing around the cage, and he tries to use this misdirection to charge in and crack his foe. He gets off a big right hand and wrenches Ruziboev down to the mat, slamming him down and landing in side control. Buckley puts a knee on the belly, and Ruziboev pulls him back to guard. Buckley rains down punches, and Ruziboev answers with an armbar that Buckley completely ignores. The round ends, Buckley helps his foe up and they embrace.

Round 3
Hands are clapped together to begin the final round. They use alternating jabs to still look for their respective distances, and Buckley leaps forward and pulls back before reaching the target. Buckley has a right hand glance off the target, and Ruziboev replies with a few body shots. Buckley eats a left hand and laughs it off so he can blast Ruziboev in the face with bombs. Buckley knocks Ruziboev off his feet down to his seat, where he moves to top position, and Ruziboev flails frantically with his legs and lands a few upkicks to get Buckley away. Buckley holds on the neck when Ruziboev sits up, and Ruziboev escapes and tries to land some shots. Buckley chases after him and connects with some punishing blows, and Ruziboev goes down again. Buckley leaps on top and begins an onslaught of ground-and-pound when he gets to mount, and he hammers Ruziboev with punches as Ruziboev’s face has been bloodied up. Ruziboev struggles to hang on and grabs the glove to protect himself, so Buckley frames off with his elbow and clobbers him with additional elbows. Ruziboev survives the assault somehow and sweeps the shorter man, and he ignores a triangle setup to move into the half guard so he can blast Buckley with his own offense. Buckley twists and turns, and he explodes to turn Ruziboev over and put him down again. Buckley sits up and jackhammers Ruziboev with right hands, and Peterson is watching closely as Ruziboev’s eye is busted up. Buckley unleashes with everything he has, and Ruziboev responds with several illegal upkicks that land on the spine and the back of the head. Peterson calls time to acknowledge the foul, and Buckley asks for them to be stood up. Ruziboev tries to offer a glove touch, and Buckley shrugs him off. Ruziboev loads up on a head kick, and Buckley walks him down and slugs him in the chops right to the final horn. This matchup somehow has gone the distance, although it is no question who will get their hand raised.

The Official Result
Joaquin Buckley def. Nursulton Ruziboev via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-26, 29-27)
Angelo picks Nursulton Ruziboev, citing his wrestling and grappling ability, as well as his power in his hands. He notes Ruziboev is a much larger fighter and a capable striker, but worries he might abandon his grappling for striking. He acknowledges Joaquin Buckley's speed, power, and improved movement, but believes Ruziboev's wrestling could be the difference.
Big Brady picks Nursulton Ruziboev to knock out Joaquin Buckley in the first round, calling it a shot in the dark. He notes that Buckley has been knocked out multiple times (by Holland, Curtis, etc.) and Ruziboev has a ton of power. However, he admits he still doesn't know much about Ruziboev, who has over 40 fights but mostly first-round finishes. He thinks Ruziboev's power might be the difference, and if he beats Buckley, he will gain hype.
Cody picks Buckley, noting that Ruziboev has a poor record at 170 lbs (7 of 8 losses at that weight) and tends to gas after the first round. He highlights Buckley's speed, cardio advantage, and ability to explode with big shots. Cody believes Buckley can survive an early onslaught and take over in later rounds, especially with the crowd behind him in St. Louis. He also notes that Ruziboev's takedown defense is suspect and Buckley could mix in wrestling.
Daniel Vreeland picks Joaquin Buckley, noting that Buckley has experience against larger opponents and that Ruziboev's ceiling is likely top 30. He believes Buckley can extend the fight and find his range, and that Ruziboev struggles when he doesn't get an early finish. He also mentions the risk of a letdown spot for Buckley after a big win.
The host picks Buckley to win by knockout in rounds 2 or 3, citing his experience and fight IQ against a less tested opponent. He expects Buckley to mix in grappling and wear down Ruziboev before landing a big shot. He notes Ruziboev's size and reach but questions his weight cut and competition level. The pick is confident for the finish, though he acknowledges unknowns about Ruziboev.
Paul leans towards Ruziboev but is hesitant, citing his size and power advantage. He notes that Ruziboev has a 10-fight winning streak with all finishes in the first round, but his record at 170 is poor. Paul worries about the weight cut and cardio, as Ruziboev has not gone past the first round in years. He suggests waiting for weigh-ins to see how Ruziboev looks at 170. Paul acknowledges Buckley's improvements but thinks Ruziboev could be a 'merer' if he lands early.
The MMA Guru picks Nursulton Ruziboev over Joaquin Buckley, noting Ruziboev's reach and rangy striking style. He believes Buckley's boxing-heavy approach will be neutralized by Ruziboev's length and uppercuts, and that Ruziboev's willingness to cheat (eye pokes) could be an advantage. He predicts a TKO win via uppercut as Buckley comes in.

Round 1
Ruziboev and Dumas go to work under the supervision of referee “Shaolin” Ribeiro. Both middleweights are in orthodox stance, and Dumas comes forward with kick feints and a long jab. Ruziboev isn’t throwing anything back, but once he has the read, he nails Dumas with a righty counter over the jab. Dumas backs off, and when they come together again, Ruziboev meets him with an uppercut up the middle. Ruziboev tries a lead left hook that glances, and backs away from a Dumas front kick. Dumas continues to match forward, but he backs away from the ensuing collision pawing at his right eye. He looks at the referee, but Ribeiro either didn’t see a foul, or saw a legal strike.
Ruziboev gives no quarter, coming forward and laying into Dumas with a string of punches. Dumas wilts under the barrage, covering up as Ruziboev pours on the punishment. Ribeiro interposes himself for the stoppage, but this is going to be one heavily viewed replay.
The replay, when it comes, shows Ruziboev appearing to drag his open fingers across Dumas’ face during one of the final exchanges. We will see if that leads to any sort of appeal in the coming days.
The Official Result
Nursolton Ruziboev def. Sedriques Dumas R1 3:18 via KO (Punches)
Angelo is very confident in Nursulton Ruziboev, calling him a 'grappling beast' who will ragdoll Sedriques Dumas. He criticizes Dumas as 'kind of terrible' and notes that even Cody Brundage took him down. He believes Ruziboev should be the biggest favorite on the card and recommends betting now before the line moves.
Big Brady picks Nursulton Ruziboev to win by first-round submission. He highlights Ruziboev's size (6'5" at middleweight), power, and dangerous submission game, noting he has many rear-naked choke wins. He criticizes Dumas for poor performances, getting hurt by lesser opponents, and questionable cardio. Brady believes Ruziboev is a level above everywhere and will submit Dumas when the fight hits the mat.
Cody acknowledges Ruziboev's first-round finishing ability but worries about his cardio if the fight goes past the first. He notes Dumas's poor life choices and questionable cardio but thinks Ruziboev's durability and skill advantage should carry him, though the price (-260) is unappealing.
Daniel Vreeland picks Nursulton Ruziboev, citing his massive experience (over 40 fights) and finishing ability. He notes Dumas is still green, has been submitted before (by Josh Fremd), and may have distractions outside the cage. He thinks Ruziboev will expose Dumas on the ground, though he doesn't advocate betting at -250.
Ruziboev has a height advantage and aggressive striking, but Dumas has a 3-inch reach advantage. Ruziboev's experience (42 fights) and recent camp at Marquez MMA in Philly are positives. Dumas is still unproven; his wins came against Cody Brundage (who jumped guillotine) and Abdul Razak Alhassan (coming off long layoff). Ruziboev's aggressiveness should be the difference, but he must avoid leaving his neck open for a choke. Prediction: Ruziboev inside the distance.
Paul is high on Ruziboev, calling him a 'monster' and noting his size, power, and training in Philly. He contrasts Ruziboev's focused Instagram with Dumas's partying and legal issues, believing Ruziboev will starch him early.
The host picks Nursulton Ruziboev, criticizing Sedriques Dumas' wins as coming against opponents with low fight IQ. He believes Ruziboev is more experienced and has a higher fight IQ. He predicts Ruziboev will win, possibly by using his grappling and striking advantage.

Round 1
Make no mistake, the UFC chose violence for this main card opener in the middleweight division. With an astounding 42 finishes across their 44 pro wins, both Ferreira (10-0, 1-0 UFC) and the debuting Ruziboev (34-8-2, 2 NC; 0-0 UFC) would not like to leave this one on the hands of the judges. Ready to intervene at any second will be referee Mark Smith. The fighters clap hands together, and Ruziboev moves to the center of the cage while Ferreira switches stances several times. Ferreira absorbs a clean calf kick from a safe distance, and he blocks a jump kick and throws a front kick back. Ferreira slams his shin on the outside calf, and Ruziboev turns his leg to prevent some of the damage. Ruziboev steps in with a few punches, and Ferreira springs out of the way.
Ruziboev catches a low kick and drills a straight right hand down Broadway. Ferreira hits the mat, his head bouncing off the floor, and he is stunned badly. “Black” hammers the nail with a fierce series of punches, putting “The Hulk” to sleep with his final onslaught.
Smith waves the fight off, and Ruziboev has just stamped the significant upset while becoming the first fighter to beat the hard-charging Brazilian. With 33 finishes in his 35 victories, including this crushing knockout of a well-regarded talent, Ruziboev names himself as one to watch going forward.
The Official Result
Nursulton Ruziboev def. Brunno Ferreira R1 1:17 via KO (Punches)
Angelo picks Brunno Ferreira but with low confidence. He acknowledges Ferreira's insane power but questions his takedown defense against a wrestling specialist like Ruziboev. He notes that Ruziboev is a live underdog and may flip his pick if the line moves. He advises avoiding betting on this fight entirely.
Big Brady picks Brunno Ferreira to win by first-round knockout. He is more impressed with Ferreira's Contender Series win and his knockout of Gregory Rodriguez than any of Ruziboev's opponents. He notes Ruziboev has poor takedown defense and Ferreira has solid wrestling and devastating ground and pound. He acknowledges Ruziboev could be legit but feels Ferreira is the safer pick.
Cody sees Ruziboev as a greasy underdog with plus money. He notes Ruziboev has 44 pro fights, has improved since moving to Daniel Gracie's team, and has a size and grappling advantage. Ferreira has big power but questionable cardio and grappling. Cody thinks Ruziboev can win by wrestling and cardio, though he acknowledges the unknown level of competition.
Daniel leans Ferreira but with low confidence due to the late opponent change and Ruziboev's length and experience. He notes Ferreira's explosive power and first-round finishing ability, but worries about closing distance against a 6'4" fighter with 20 submission wins. He acknowledges Ruziboev's poor cardio and decision record (2-6), but sees Ferreira's path to victory via takedowns or power shots. He is less confident than in the original matchup against Razak.
Paul picks Ferreira but is not confident. He notes Ferreira's power and KO of Gregory Rodrigues, but questions his cardio and grappling. Ruziboev is an unknown with a strange record. Paul thinks Ferreira's power gives him a chance, but he doesn't feel great about the pick.
The Guru picks Brunno Ferreira, noting his power and strength advantage. He criticizes Ruziboev's striking as sloppy and open to getting chinned, and believes Ferreira will stuff takedowns and land a big shot for a KO. He also notes Ruziboev's submission wins come off his back, but Ferreira won't shoot takedowns.

Round 1
Middleweights are up again, this time in the form of offense-minded maulers Aliskerov and Ferreira. The third man in the cage is Marc Goddard. Both men are in orthodox stance but as Aliskerov advances, Ferreira switches to southpaw, and then back. Ferreira comes up short with a sweeping overhand right. Aliskerov meets his next entry with a level change and runs him to the fence. Ferreira grabs an underhook but Aliskerov hoists and dumps him anyway. Ferreira turns his back in order to stand and manages to disengage without giving up back control. They separate and Aliskerov promptly boots him to the cup in the next exchange. Goddard halts the action and warns Aliskerov while the Brazilian catches his breath. When they go back to work, Aliskerov lands a hard low kick. Aliskerov nails Ferreira with a knee up the middle. Ferreira backs up to the cage and Aliskerov comes in behind a flying knee, then seamlessly drops for a double-leg takedown, hauling Ferreira down and away from the fence. Beautiful mixing of the martial arts there. With 90 seconds left in the round, Aliskerov is in Ferreira’s full guard near the warning track, throwing short punches to the ribs while Ferreira closes his guard and controls his posture. Ferreira opens up his guard and looks for some possible offense from his back, elevating his hips for an armbar or triangle. Aliskerov lets Ferreira up and lands a right hand before the horn.

Round 2
Aliskerov throws a high front kick that misses short. He meets Ferreira’s next entry with a push kick up the middle. Ferreira is struggling badly to navigate the reach of the taller, longer Aliskerov; he’s eating a strike or two on the way in every time, and even when they don’t do a ton of damage, they disrupt whatever Ferreira was planning to do. Like clockwork, as I type that, Ferreira wades into the pocket and runs right into a perfectly timed level change. Aliskerov deposits him on the canvas and, as Ferreira scrambles, ends up kneeling over him in an almost north-south position. Aliskerov looks to isolate an arm for a kimura or armbar. Ferreira escapes but gives up his back. Aliskerov is draped all over him, but Ferreira is patient and methodical, and gets back to his feet without giving up back mount. Aliskerov drills Ferreira with two punches, but there isn’t much behind them. Ferreira steps forward and throws punches, and several land before Aliskerov gets onto his hips and drags him back to the canvas. Ferreira escapes back to his feet around the 30-second mark, and Aliskerov hustles him back to the ground again. Ferreira looks for a calf slicer as Aliskerov stands over him, but can’t get it before the horn.

Round 3
Ferreira surges forward and throws a pair of big punches that bounce off of the high guard of Aliskerov. Ferreira with a high kick that just touches. Aliskerov has slowed drastically, but Ferreira has been too wild to capitalize in the early going. Aliskerov with a long jab and a front snap kick, backing Ferreira up to the fence, and when Ferreira rebounds from the cage, Aliskerov uses a trip to spin him down to the floor with ease. Aliskerov goes into Ferreira’s guard. Ferreira shrimps, then goes onto all fours, but before he can explode to his feet, Aliskerov slides into back mount and locks up a body triangle. Serious tactical blunder by Ferreira, and Aliskerov is fishing for a choke. Ferreira is wise to it and fights off the choke, and tries to twist out of back mount, but ends up in a very uncomfortable-looking sideways mount. Aliskerov, in no hurry to go anywhere, squeezes with his legs and drops punches. Under 90 seconds to go and Aliskerov has completely taken over the fight. Ferreira goes to all fours with 30 seconds to go and Aliskerov is on his back, dropping punches from back mount until the horn. Dominant performance by Ikram Aliskerov.

The Official Result
Ikram Aliskerov def. Brunno Ferreira via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
AJ picks Ferreira by knockout, calling Aliskerov overrated and questioning his durability. He thinks Ferreira's power and judo background pose problems, and that Aliskerov's chin will be tested. He believes the odds are too wide and that Ferreira is live for an upset.
AJ picks Ferreira as a sizable underdog, citing his power and Aliskerov's shaky chin. He thinks Ferreira can land an uppercut as Aliskerov shoots, and that Ferreira's improved conditioning will help. AJ acknowledges Aliskerov's wrestling advantage but believes Ferreira can hurt him on the feet.
AJ picks Ferreira by knockout, believing Aliskerov is overrated and hittable. Ferreira has knockout power in both hands and good jiu-jitsu to defend takedowns. Aliskerov's chin is questionable, and Ferreira's athleticism and improved conditioning should lead to an upset.
AJ DeVito picks Brunno Ferreira as a wild underdog at +235, citing Ikram Aliskerov's chin problems and Ferreira's power, judo background, and improved conditioning. He thinks Ferreira can stop takedowns and land a knockout, and likes the KO prop at +550. He acknowledges Aliskerov could wrestle to a win but believes Ferreira is live.
Angelo picks Bruno despite his cardio concerns, because Bruno is the most dangerous striker Ikram has faced. He worries that Ikram may fold under pressure, as hinted by his corner's comments. He acknowledges Bruno's tendency to fade after the first round but is willing to shoot his shot.
Angelo sees Bruno Ferreira as a solid underdog at +235, describing him as a coiled snake with one-punch knockout power and high-level judo. He acknowledges Bruno's poor cardio as a major weakness, but argues that Bruno is the most dangerous fighter Ikram has ever faced, more dangerous than Robert Whittaker in terms of finishing ability.
Angelo picks Ferreira as an underdog, citing his dangerous striking and judo. He worries about Ferreira's cardio but thinks he can land a big shot early or use judo to defend takedowns. He notes the odds are widening and may wait to bet.
Big Brady picks Ikram Aliskerov to win by decision. He notes Aliskerov has knockout power but also a wrestling background, having taken down opponents outside the UFC. Ferreira is a dangerous power puncher with questionable takedown defense and cardio. Brady thinks Aliskerov will use wrestling to control the fight, possibly earning a late finish or decision. He acknowledges many outcomes are possible and will stay away from betting.
Cody picks Aliskerov, calling him a favorable matchup. He highlights Aliskerov's wrestling and size advantage over Ferreira, who he sees as undersized and vulnerable. He expects Aliskerov to win via takedowns and control, possibly by decision.
Daniel Levi picks Ikram Aliskerov, noting he is more well-rounded and technically sound, with multiple paths to victory (striking, grappling, point fighting). He acknowledges Brunno Ferreira's puncher's chance but believes Aliskerov has matured since his loss to Robert Whittaker and showed improved cardio against the Iron Turtle. Levi respects Ferreira but favors Aliskerov's versatility.
Jacob picks Aliskerov by submission, arguing that Ferreira is susceptible to straight shots and has been knocked out twice. He thinks Aliskerov has better cardio and grappling, and will finish Ferreira in round 2 or 3. He includes Aliskerov in his slam of the week.
Lucrative James picks Ikram Aliskerov despite being hesitant, citing Aliskerov's massive grappling advantage and better training partners in Dagestan. He notes that Brunno Ferreira has power and can knock anyone out, but has looked unimpressive in his UFC career and has been knocked out twice. He acknowledges the fight is volatile and could end with whoever lands first, but favors Aliskerov's overall skills and cardio upside. He says he will only bet if the odds are really good.
The host believes Aliskerov will land decent combinations and mix in his grappling to cause Ferreira to slow down, leading to a late finish. However, he notes his interest in Ferreira has increased as the number balloons, and he might have a small sprinkle on Ferreira by fight time, but his official prediction remains Aliskerov by knockout.
Aliskerov is more well-rounded and has improved his striking, but Ferreira is dangerous with power and BJJ. Aliskerov should win by knockout as Ferreira slows down, but Ferreira has a real chance to clip him. The line is too wide; a small play on Ferreira is possible.
Paul picks Aliskerov confidently, citing his wrestling advantage and Ferreira's size and durability issues. He notes Ferreira's power but thinks Aliskerov can grind him out with takedowns and control. He likes Aliskerov by decision at plus odds.
The Guru picks Ferreira, citing his explosiveness, power, and ability to land a KO. He believes Aliskerov gives too much space and is hittable, which plays into Ferreira's strengths. He notes Ferreira's submission threat and sees value in the underdog.

Angelo notes that both fighters are similar with heavy hands and poor cardio, but Gregory is larger and has better fight IQ. He expects Gregory to wrestle early to avoid another knockout, as Bruno knocked him out in their first fight when Gregory was ill-prepared. He believes Gregory will slow the pace and win on the scorecards.
Big Brady picks Gregory Rodrigues over Brunno Ferreira in a rematch. He notes Ferreira knocked out Rodrigues in the first fight, but Rodrigues has elite jiu-jitsu that he underutilizes. Brady believes if Rodrigues fights smart, mixes in takedowns, and uses his grappling, he can submit Ferreira, who gassed badly against Abus Magomedov. He predicts a second-round submission, warning that if Rodrigues stands and bangs, he could get knocked out again.
Cody also picks Ferreira, highlighting Rodrigues' defensive flaws and tendency to gas. He notes Ferreira's speed and power, and that Rodrigues has been knocked out before. He expects Ferreira to land a big shot and finish.
Connor picks Rodrigues despite the first loss, noting that Rodrigues was styling on Ferreira before getting caught. He believes Rodrigues's improved grappling and willingness to test Ferreira's submission defense will be key. However, he acknowledges that Ferreira's one-punch power and Rodrigues's tendency to fade late make this a risky pick. Connor sees it as a well-matched rematch where either outcome is possible.
Daniel Vreeland picks Brunno Ferreira as a plus-170 underdog, believing the odds should be closer. He notes that Ferreira knocked out Rodrigues in their first fight and has power that can end the fight early. Vreeland acknowledges both fighters have cardio issues and one-shot power, but he likes the value on Ferreira.
James picks Brunno Ferreira as the value side, noting that Ferreira already knocked out Rodrigues in their first fight and has the power to do it again. He highlights Rodrigues' poor chin and tendency to get hit, while Ferreira's leaping left hook is a dangerous weapon. James admits he is not confident but cannot trust Rodrigues at minus-200 odds due to his chin issues. He expects Ferreira to win by KO, likely early.
Rodrigues has a height and reach advantage and will play it safe early before finding a knockout as Ferreira slows. He learned from the first fight and should be more assertive. The fight finishes inside the distance. Waiting for a better line is advised.
Paul picks Ferreira as a dog, citing Rodrigues' durability issues and poor head movement. He notes Ferreira's speed and power, and that he already knocked out Rodrigues. He sees value at plus money and expects a knockout.
The MMA Guru picks Brunno Ferreira, citing his previous KO win over Rodrigues. He believes Ferreira's power and finishing ability will be too much, and that Rodrigues is chinny. He predicts a KO win, possibly in a scrappy fight.
Zane picks Rodrigues, echoing Connor's reasoning. He notes that Rodrigues has become more willing to grapple and can use ground-and-pound to finish. Zane points out that Ferreira's game is limited to wild overhands and sacrificial submissions, and Rodrigues should be able to avoid the big shot if he fights smart. However, he admits that Ferreira's power makes it a dangerous fight.

Big Brady picks Marvin Vettori despite calling him 'washed'. He notes Vettori's durability and volume, and Ferreira's cardio issues, referencing Ferreira's loss to Abus Magomedov. He expects Vettori to mix in takedowns, grind on Ferreira, and submit him in the third round.
Cody picks Vettori, citing his durability and volume. He notes that Vettori has never been finished and has gone the distance with top competition. He believes Ferreira relies on early finishes and will fade if he doesn't get them. He thinks Vettori will outwork Ferreira and win by decision.
Connor picks Brunno Ferreira, citing that Vettori has lost his way after leaving Kings MMA and now fights without a clear game plan. He notes that Ferreira is a power puncher with submission threats, and while Vettori should win on paper, his recent performances show he is adrift. Connor calls it a vibes pick.
Daniel picks Ferreira, citing Vettori's decline (1-5 since title fight), lack of power, and fading durability. He believes Ferreira's power and finishing ability will be too much, and he expects Ferreira to become the first to finish Vettori in the UFC. He notes Vettori's volume edge but doubts it matters.
Lucrative James believes Marvin Vettori has looked washed recently, with declining durability. He notes Ferreira's power and thinks Vettori's chin may finally crack. The host notes the opposite recent records but sees this as a step up in competition for Ferreira. He highlights Vettori's never-been-finished durability and Ferreira's lack of decision wins, expecting Vettori to bully Ferreira and pull out the win in deep water.

Round 1
Violence is almost guaranteed in this next preliminary tilt, as these two middleweights each celebrate 100% finish rates. Ferreira (13-2, 4-2 UFC) will now draw McVey (6-0, 0-0 UFC) after a round robin of opponent switches for both men, and they are more than ready to hit something. Referee Kerry Hatley will make sure that they do so on the up-and-up. Before looking to lop one another’s head off, the intense 185ers touch gloves.
Ferreira gets right on his bike and circles around to find his way in, trying to look for angles towards the taller newcomer. Ferreira fires off a body kick after about 30 seconds of inactivity, and he circles all the way around his adversary with nary another strike thrown. McVey offers a few pawing front kicks to see if he can reach “The Hulk,” and he has a high kick skim across Ferreira’s shoulder. Ferreira steps in to jack McVey in the jaw with a right hook, but it is one-and-done as he backs off to avoid counters. Ferreira scores a low kick and shells up to block a few punches and a high kick. He blasts the front leg with a kick, and McVey stumbles and smiles to try to keep a poker face. Ferreira turns around carelessly to reset, and McVey tackles him to the mat from behind and briefly takes his back.
The incredibly strong Brazilian stands up with McVey on his back, leans over and slams McVey over his head to the mat. McVey lands with a grunt, and Ferreira leisurely sits down in side control to start doing work with elbow. When McVey looks to scramble, Ferreira slices into full mount like a hot knife through butter.
Ferreira lowers himself down for an arm-triangle choke setup, but it is a ruse as he traps McVey’s arm from the side and rolls him over, the armbar already set. Ferreira turns belly-down to complete the submission
, and the newcomer is shocked at how fast Ferreira nailed that sub and taps out frantically. “The Hulk” releases the grip immediately and runs to his corner to embrace them. His 100% finish rate remains intact.
The Official Result
Brunno Ferreira def. Jackson McVey R1 3:35 via Submission (Armbar)
Angelo picks Brunno Ferreira to win, citing his power, grappling, and experience. He notes that Jackson McVey has had a chaotic lead-up with multiple fight cancellations and weight cuts, which will work against him. However, he warns against betting heavy on Ferreira due to cardio issues.
Big Brady expects Brunno Ferreira to knock out Jackson McVey in the first round, citing Ferreira's scary power and McVey's step up in competition. He feels bad for McVey but sees a mismatch.
Connor picks Ferreira, citing his experience, power, and durability. He notes that McVey is incredibly raw and only comfortable in the clinch, while Ferreira has multiple layers to his game and can find fight-changing shots. However, he acknowledges Ferreira's gaps in defense and wrestling.
The host notes that McVey is on short notice and facing the most difficult opponent he's ever come across. He believes Ferreira will crush him and finish him within the first round, indicating a high confidence in a first-round finish.
The MMA Guru picks Brunno Ferreira over Jackson McVey, calling it a mismatch. He notes that McVey is a debutant who was originally scheduled to fight someone else and has been in a depleted state due to weight cuts. Ferreira is described as a very good middleweight with dynamic striking and power, having knocked out Gregory Rodriguez in the first round. The Guru predicts a second-round TKO for Ferreira, as McVey's stand-up is hesitant and rushed, and he will likely get caught.
Zane picks Ferreira, noting that McVey is too green and lacks the range game to deal with Ferreira's pressure. He believes Ferreira's comfort in the cage and ability to hang tough will be decisive.

Round 1
Fists and feet and the other four limbs are about to start flying when referee Mark Smith tells these two gunslinging middleweights to get after it. Fans will be finally able to answer the live-action question of whether “The Hulk” Ferreira (12-2, 3-2 UFC) could beat “Superman” Petrosyan (9-4, 3-3 UFC) in the ultimate Marvel vs. DC nickname battle. Everyone in the building takes a sharp inhale when the two get going, as they touch gloves first. Petrosyan stalks a retreating Ferreira down, with Ferreira on the outer edge of the cage circling. Petrosyan chops at his foe’s front leg, and Ferreira misses the check on it. He has his leg ready for a second. The lunges from Ferreira are forcing Petrosyan to jump back, but he does not strike. They trade low kicks from a safe distance, and Petrosyan doubles up on his kick effort. Ferreira roars forward, getting off a right hand and blasting Petrosyan in the face with a huge left hand. Petrosyan takes it on the button without flinching, and he kicks the inside leg and skips his foot into Ferreira’s cup. Smith calls time, and Ferreira takes less than 30 seconds before he wants to go again. Petrosyan leads off with an inside leg kick, and the impact is much harder and louder as it ricochets off Ferreira’s cup. Smith recognizes the foul again and once more issues a time-out. While Ferreira is recovering, Smith deducts one point from Petrosyan for the foul. After one minute, Ferreira is good to go, and he has to immediately block a head kick. Petrosyan wants nothing to do with low kicks again, aiming his next several kicks high or extremely low. Ferreira charges forward, nearly gets caught in the groin again from a framing Petrosyan knee, and Petrosyan backs off and chops at his front leg. Ferreira sits down on a blistering right hand, and Petrosyan again eats it without batting an eye. “Superman” comes out swinging, catching Ferreira with a response, and Ferreira walks him down and targets his body. Petrosyan mixes up kicks to the body and lower leg, and he gets bounced into the wall by a front kick. Ferreira rushes at his opponent, looking for a takedown using sheer horsepower. The second attempt does get Petrosyan down, but Petrosyan springs back up and flashes his jab in Ferreira’s face. Petrosyan presses forward with a right hand and a jump knee, opening a cut on the corner of Ferreira’s right eyebrow. Petrosyan keeps close, whipping a head kick at him, and the horn sounds.

Round 2
The middleweights clap hands to re-engage, and Ferreira keeps his knee up to block incoming strikes. Petrosyan uses the opportunity to kick him upside the head, and Ferreira shrugs it off and throws bombs. Petrosyan hand-fights and uses head movement and footwork to evade the worst hurled at him, jogging from side to side and kicking high again. Ferreira responds with a body kick, and his leg kick is met with a sharp jab. Petrosyan splits the guard with his own jab, snapping out a body kick when Ferreira walks him down. Ferreira winds up with a bomb of a right hand, catching Petrosyan with one and forcing Petrosyan to run to the side to reset. The Brazilian reaches Petrosyan with a right hand to the body and a left up top, and Petrosyan replies with a body kick and a few jabs that have further damaged Ferreira’s eye. Ferreira times a kick to tackle Petrosyan to the mat, and Petrosyan scoots himself upright and escapes. Ferreira walks him down and jabs him in the face, following it with a mean overhand right. Petrosyan kicks his foe in the lead leg and lead arm, and he sneaks an uppercut beneath the guard. Ferreira targets the body with a few punches, and Petrosyan runs away. When Ferreira punches him in the midsection, Smith calls time as if it was a low blow, but it was nowhere near the groin. Smith quickly restarts the round, and Petrosyan flashes out his right hand a few times. They blast one another with loud body kicks, and Ferreira runs at his opponent like a lineman and tackles him to the mat. Petrosyan gets away with grabbing the fence, and Ferreira is still able to keep him on his knees but is prevented from going flat.
Petrosyan sits up and has his back taken, and Ferreira immediately pursues the rear-naked choke. Petrosyan keeps moving, and he finds the Brazilian has set a trap for him. “The Hulk” locks down an armbar with a triangle choke also in the works, and Petrosyan is in trouble. It does not take more than a second for the Armenian to have to surrender, lest his limb be snapped the wrong direction.
This stoppage keeps Ferreira’s finish rate at 100%, while handing Petrosyan his third straight loss inside the distance. “The Hulk” roars, blood streaming down his eye, and he goes to celebrate with his corner.

Round 1
Batten down the hatches, because an all-offense middleweight clash is about to light up the Etihad Arena for the next few minutes or less. Referee Marc Goddard is prepped and ready for the oncoming insanity. Magomedov (26-6-1, 2-2 UFC), who has seen his fair share of ups and downs in the Octagon thus far, comes to blows with Brazilian slugger Ferreira (12-1, 3-1 UFC). The over/under of 1.5 rounds is currently an even betting line, which mean that prognosticators expect some violence here. Before they swing for the fences, they touch ‘em up first. Magomedov tosses out a jumping front kick, and the two keep their safe range from one another for some time. Magomedov remains in the center of the cage, walking Ferreira down and measuring out a jab that is not there. Magomedov swings a left hook that catches the Brazilian on the chin, and “The Hulk” wears it well. Magomedov hammers the front leg with a kick, and Ferreira changes stances and tosses out a front kick. When Ferreira charges, Magomedov uses his reach advantage to pop his foe with a left hand. Magomedov gets off another chopping kick that is partially checked, and he jabs the chest with the ball of his foot. Ferreira tries his own front kick, and is otherwise relatively offensively muted. Magomedov has a head kick blocked, and he parries a punch and narrowly evades two looping hooks. Magomedov skims the side of the head with a kick, and he jabs and prods with a leg kick. Ferreira’s responding teep kick comes up short, unable to find his distance. Magomedov snaps out a front kick and dodges a counter to walk his man down. Magomedov gets away with a naked leg kick as a right hand counter clips him, and he strings a few punches together to get the Brazilian back. Magomedov jabs the body and blocks a Ferreira blitz, and the disappointing round ends.

Round 2
The middleweights bump fists to start the second round. Magomedov gets on his bike, peppering with jabs, and Ferreira rushes after him preparing to check kicks and reaching out punches. Ferreira marches Magomedov down with two hooks, landing at least one. Magomedov walks the Brazilian down and pushes him back with a jab, and Ferreira darts at him with two winging strikes. Ferreira checks a kick and counters a jab with two punches, and two more come to catch Magomedov standing still. Ferreira pitches out a jumping switch kick as he surges forward, far different than the first round as he may have already matched last round’s strike attempt total just 90 seconds in. Ferreira blasts his man in the face with a right hand, and Magomedov ducks down directly into a head kick that shakes him down to his core. Magomedov desperately pursues a takedown, falling directly into a guillotine choke from the Brazilian. The Russian-born competitor shakes out the cobwebs and pulls his neck out of the choke, working his way around to gain top position, sneak around to take the back, and start fishing for things. Ferreira explodes out of it and walks Magomedov down, hurling heavy leather at him. Magomedov’s legs may not be fully beneath him, and Ferreira opens up with a vicious body kick and a jumping front kick. Ferreira splits the guard with a left hand, and he stops a takedown in its tracks. When Magomedov gets up, he just dodges a left hand in time, but Ferreira reaches him with a fierce left hand. “The Hulk” smashes his man in the face with power strikes, and he spins with an elbow that gives up his back. Magomedov uses the moment to tackle Ferreira to the mat from behind, and Ferreira stands back up despite Magomedov on his back. Magomedov rolls him back down to the floor, and he assumes top position to slow the Brazilian down. Magomedov shifts to half guard to maintain control, where he grinds out the remainder of the round.

Round 3
There is a clap of hands to commence the final round, marking the first time that “The Hulk” has fought beyond the 10-minute mark. Ferreira appears fresh as a daisy, spearing his opponent with a power punch. Ferreira lunges forward to throw out two more, and he dips down to defend a faked takedown and eats a stunning left hand on the jaw. Ferreira raises his arms to ask Magomedov to bring it on, and Magomedov shrugs at him back. Ferreira plods forward, jabbing the body with a kick and pounding a few punches off the guard. Magomedov intercepts his advancing foe with an uppercut, and Ferreira lets his hands fly with two punches and a spinning strike. The spin works to his disadvantage, as “Abus” times an easy takedown that plants the Brazilian flat on his back. Magomedov moves into half guard, and Ferreira scrambles and gives his back up. Magomedov slips a hook in from behind, and he starts looking for a choke before getting the other in. This allows “The Hulk” to escape, and Magomedov looks at the clock and rushes at his opponent to tackle him down to the floor courtesy of a clean double. Ferreira hits his back and hacks with elbows to the back of the head, and he is warned loudly by Goddard.
Magomedov ignores the strikes and steps over to mount and then the side, simultaneously securing an arm-triangle choke. The Russian by way of Germany locks the submission down and imposes his full body weight, and it is just a matter of time with Ferreira trapped in a precarious position. “The Hulk” surrenders before his lights go out,
and Magomedov has now handed Ferreira his first career submission defeat.
The Official Result
Abusupiyan Magomedov def. Brunno Ferreira R3 3:14 via Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke)
Angelo picks Brunno Ferreira with low confidence. He questions whether Abusupiyan Magomedov is good or not, noting his weak chin and poor performances. He thinks Ferreira's only path is an early finish, but with new gloves, finishes are less reliable. He will watch the line movement for better value on Ferreira as the underdog.
Big Brady picks Magomedov, citing his size, reach advantage, and wrestling. He is concerned about Ferreira's cardio, noting he looked like he was slowing down in the first round against Dustin Stoltzfus. He believes Magomedov can mix in takedowns and finish Ferreira in the second round by submission.
Cody picks Abusupiyan Magomedov, believing his wrestling and length will be key. He notes that Ferreira has poor takedown defense and that Magomedov can neutralize his power by taking him down. Cody is not highly confident due to Magomedov's cardio issues but thinks he can grind out a win.
Connor picks Magomedov, noting that Ferreira is much smaller and his game is shallow. He compares Ferreira to a portion of Gilbert Burns' striking without the other tools. Magomedov's size and reach will allow him to control the fight, and Ferreira is not suited for fighting off his back.
Daniel Vreeland picks Brunno Ferreira to win by first-round knockout, citing Ferreira's devastating power and Magomedov's history of being knocked out. He acknowledges that if the fight goes to decision, Magomedov likely wins, but believes Ferreira's early finishing upside is worth the pick. Vreeland is not confident and notes the risk of Ferreira fading if he doesn't get the finish.
Daniel Vreeland picks Magomedov, arguing that he is more technical on the feet and has a strong wrestling game. He notes that Magomedov's losses are to top middleweights like Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland, and that Ferreira's only path is a KO. Vreeland expects Magomedov to take Ferreira down repeatedly and possibly submit him.
Jeff Fox is taking Ferreira, swayed by his recent win over Warley Alves. He believes Ferreira can land a knockout if he can keep the fight standing, though he acknowledges Magomedov's wrestling threat. Fox's pick is less confident and seems to be a contrarian choice.
Magomedov has the overall advantage with his ability to mix in grappling and his reach and length. He should counter Ferreira's blitzing approach and eventually put him away by knockout, similar to what Nurlan Ruziboev did to Toofan.
Paul picks Magomedov, citing his superior wrestling and cleaner striking. He notes that Ferreira is undersized for middleweight and has been taken down easily. Paul believes Magomedov can implement a wrestling-heavy game plan and win by decision or late finish. He is not highly confident.
The Guru leans toward Brunno Ferreira, trusting his doggedness and finishing instincts in a firefight. He notes that Abusupiyan Magomedov may not have the same grit and could fade. He acknowledges both are capable of finishing each other but believes Ferreira will push when the going gets tough. The Guru also comments that Magomedov is 'too westernized' and 'soy'.
Zane picks Magomedov because of his significant size and reach advantage over Ferreira. He notes that Ferreira's game is shallow and he is a short, stocky power puncher with no other tools to control a fight. Magomedov can use his reach to land one-twos and takedowns, and Ferreira's only chance is an early knockout, but Magomedov has speed and size.
Zane picked Magomedov, noting that Ferreira has great power but the rest of his game doesn't exist. He described Magomedov's game as an inch deep and a mile wide, able to do enough to stay in a fight if his opponent can't take over in any one area. Zane pointed out that Ferreira lacks consistency and a plan, so Magomedov was able to climb back and get the win.

Round 1
Win or lose, all 12 of Brazilian bomber Ferreira’s (11-1, 2-1 UFC) pro outings have ended before the 6:08 mark. The same cannot be said for Pennsylvania-based grappler Stoltzfus (15-5, 2-4 UFC), but he knows his way around a stoppage as well. Referee Jason Herzog dons his hard hat for the middleweight proceeding, one that commences with them coming together in the center of the cage but not to touch gloves. They back off, as Ferreira retreats around the edge of the cage while Stoltzfus walks his way forward. Stoltzfus lands a right hand as Ferreira zips away, and Ferreira lands a low kick that gets countered with a straight right. Ferreira unloads with a ferocious right hand that stings the Pennsylvanian, and he blasts him with a second as Stoltzfus counters to surprise him. Stoltzfus crashes the pocket and tosses Ferreira to the mat, and he pushes “The Hulk” over to get into his guard. Ferreira utilizes butterfly hooks to kick Stoltzfus off of him, and he turns over when he does this to stand but Stoltzfus leaps on his back to keep him grounded. Ferreira works his way back upright, and he fights off an armbar. Stoltzfus transitions into a kneebar, and Ferreira gets away with a fence grab to reposition himself. Ferreira rolls through to get out of the leglock, and Stoltzfus runs at him throwing hands before banging into him and pushing him to the wall. Stoltzfus lands a right hand, and Ferreira responds with a stern elbow before darting away to reset. Stoltzfus walks forward and kicks “The Hulk” high, and he dings him with a follow-up right hand. Ferreira misses with a right hand, and he guards another had kick effort. Stoltzfus spins with a back kick that slams square into Ferreira’s midsection, and Ferreira has to shake it out and kick him in the belly. Ferreira spins with a back elbow that hurts Stoltzfus, and the two start slugging with everything they have. Stoltzfus is in a bad way but still swinging for the fences, and he pursues a takedown but is pushed away by “The Hulk.” Stoltzfus drills his man with an elbow, but Ferreira is relentless, throwing everything he has into a right hand that slams into his foe’s temple. Stoltzfus staggers back, and Ferreira reaches him with a long right hand and whips a head kick at him that pounds into the shoulder. Ferreira leaps forward but his knee is not high enough, so he just ends up bumping chest-to-chest into his foe.
The Brazilian lands two shots to the body, takes a few steps back and spins with a mighty elbow. The strike connects cleanly on the forehead, putting Stoltzfus down as Herzog springs between them to stop the fight.
While Stoltzfus is still standing as Herzog halts the contest, he does not protest the stoppage as he is still out on his feet and needs to be caught so he does not fall over. Ferreira, who might be out of steam after his final onslaught, jumps on the ground and slams it with both hands like “The Hulk” does during his Hulk Smash move. This is a spectacular finish, and one of just a small handful of knockouts via spinning elbow in UFC history. The main card has undoubtedly picked up after a slow set of prelims, delivering a “Round of the Year” candidate along with a potential suitor for the “Knockout of the Year” list as well.
The Official Result
Bruno Ferreira def. Dustin Stoltzfus R1 4:51 via KO (Spinning Back Elbow)
Angelo picks Brunno Ferreira, citing his insane power against Dustin Stoltzfus's questionable chin. He notes that all of Ferreira's wins are finishes, and Stoltzfus has been knocked out before. He thinks it's a trap fight because it seems too easy, but he is falling into the trap. He predicts Ferreira wins inside the distance.
Big Brady picks Brunno Ferreira to win by first-round knockout. He highlights Ferreira's incredible one-punch power and vicious ground and pound. He notes that Stoltzfus is hitable with 48% striking defense and that Ferreira will follow up if he hurts him. He mentions a potential live bet on Stoltzfus if he survives the first round.
Cody picks Stoltzfus as a greasy underdog, noting that Ferreira is a first-round knockout artist with questionable cardio and wild striking. Stoltzfus has decent cardio, wrestling, and BJJ, and has been competitive against tough opponents. Cody believes if Stoltzfus can survive the first round, he can take over with his grappling and pressure. He sees value in the plus money and expects Stoltzfus to win by decision or late submission.
Daniel picks Stoltzfus as a live dog, believing Ferreira is too small for middleweight and that Stoltzfus can survive the early onslaught and take over after the seven-minute mark. He notes Ferreira's all-first-round finishes but criticizes his awkward movement and lack of in-between striking. He warns that Stoltzfus stands straight up and gets hit early, but if he can drag the fight out, his grappling and experience could pay off.
Jacob picks Brunno Ferreira, agreeing with Angelo. He notes that Stoltzfus has a suspect chin and Ferreira has big power. However, he warns that if the fight gets out of the first round, Ferreira might fade. He has Ferreira in a parlay but is not betting him heavily. He plans to live bet Stoltzfus if the first round ends without a finish.
Stoltzfus has a reach and height advantage, and his straight shots down the pipe should keep Ferreira at bay. Ferreira is a power puncher with a BJJ black belt, but Stoltzfus showed improved performance against Soriano. At +220, Stoltzfus is a good underdog pick to win by decision, possibly even a late finish.
Paul sees this as a dogger pass situation. He acknowledges Ferreira's first-round knockout power but notes the lack of value on Ferreira by knockout props. He thinks Stoltzfus could win if he survives the early storm, but he's not confident enough to make a pick.
The Guru picks Ferreira to 'smoke' Stoltzfus, saying Stoltzfus isn't the same level of danger on the feet and will be more scared in the fight. He notes Ferreira has KO power and that Stoltzfus's wins aren't impressive (e.g., Dwight Grant, Punahele Soriano). He expects a KO win for Ferreira.
Expert Picks (6)
