Hyder Amil vs. Jamall Emmers
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Amil (-140); Emmers (+115)

Round 1
Wrapping up the prelims is a featherweight clash between similarly aged Californians. Amil (11-1, 3-1 UFC) trains out of Giblert Melendez’ El Nino Training Center, while “Prettyboy” Emmers (21-8, 4-4 UFC) counters with his studies at Pinnacle MMA. The two 145ers will be let loose just as soon as referee Kerry Hatley says go, and they greet one another with a fist bump.
Amil circles quickly from one side of the cage to the other, and the two hand-fight and swat away opening jabs. Amil looks for range with his kicks, and Emmers blasts him with left hand at the same time Amil accidentally kicks him in the groin. Hatley sees it and calls time, with Emmers taking about 45 seconds to recover before he starts up guns blazing. Both men throw caution to the wind and hammer one another with high-amplitude, wide-reaching strikes. Amil tries to get behind his kicks, spamming them from both legs until Emmers crashes the pocket throwing hands. Amil takes a one-two down Broadway and defends a takedown attempt from his opponent. “Prettyboy” trips up Amil and uses a body lock to put Amil to the mat. Amil bounces back upright, turning himself about in the clinch to give Emmers a knee to think about. Emmers throws one back, and they split. Emmers pushes out with a front kick from a long way out, and he reaches Amil with a right hand. Amil fires back with a body kick and punches, and Emmers slips out of the way.
Amil walks his man down and starts slugging him in the chops, getting countered but not appearing remotely concerned, even as his face turns red. Amil strings a trio of punches together, and he tags Emmers up top when Emmers pitches a front kick at him. Emmers slips after scoring a left hand, and he reaches Amil with a few punches. Amil fires back, so Emmers runs at him and tackles him to the ground. Amil springboards back upright and gets back in Emmers’ face, knocking his head around with violent swinging fists. Emmers knees him in the gut when the two are tied up, and Amil gets away with a fence grab. Emmers breaks with an elbow on the temple, and Amil swats out with a right hand and a scooping left hook that appears to hurt “Prettyboy.” Amil catches a kick and tosses Emmers back, and he takes a left hand on the side of the eyebrow that splits his face open. Emmers sits down on a massive right hand, and Amil’s chin holds up somehow. The horn sounds.

Round 2
The two come out of their corners loaded for bear, and they proceed to prove it by punching one another square in the face when they are permitted to do so. Emmers fights behind his one-twos, and Amil relies on explosions to close the distance. Amil’s front kick brushes the cup before striking the body, and Hatley signs and calls time. Hatley informs Amil to not commit any more fouls, and after about 40 seconds, they get back to business. The two walk towards one another, slinging leather, until Emmers connects and skirts away on the outside. Amil goes high with his shin, and Emmers dances away after dinging Amil with a one-two. Emmers catches a kick, tripping Amil to the ground. Amil falls forward and grabs the fence to keep him afloat while scrambling, and they quickly get back up to continue trading. Emmers takes advantage of an overswinging “Hurricane” by tackling him to the canvas, this time putting Amil flat on his back.
Emmers calmly, methodically opens up with ground-and-pound. He uses those strikes to pass to the side, and he positions himself in half guard going after an arm-triangle choke on the other side. Amil defends by raising his right arm as high as he can over his head, and he recovers back to the guard. Amil tries to stay busy with hacking elbows off his back, but Emmers’ own strikes have more oomph behind them. The round concludes in this position.

Round 3
The featherweights meet in the middle, and they start throwing hands almost immediately. Emmers sees his opening when Amil engages and shoots under his swings to take him to the mat. Amil stands back up, and he looks to scramble while rolling through, clutching Emmers’ arm for a potential sweep. Emmers throws him back down on his face, and he lets Amil roll to his back so he can implement the offense he wishes to offer. Emmers settles down and presses his shoulder on Amil’s throat, securing an arm-triangle choke while being on the wrong side. Amil toughs it out and sucks wind, so Emmers switches the grip to the other side. Amil tries to turn himself around, and this only allows Emmers to take his back and lump him up on either side of the head. Amil spins to his back, and Emmers secures full mount and beats on Amil with elbows.
“The Hurricane” is almost out of energy, and Emmers is bullying him and clubbing him any time he finds an opening. Amil gets to a knee and puts his side against the fence, so Emmers wraps his arm around his waist and mat returns him. Emmers lands in an arm-triangle choke position, and he uses it to take mount with 70 seconds to go. Emmers sits up and pops Amil in the chops when Amil tries to scramble, and he allows Amil to turn so he can set up another arm-triangle choke. Amil’s face is contorted in agony and exhaustion as Emmers is tossing him around on the mat, and he manages to get to his knees with any remaining reserves he has left. Emmers completely deflates him by stepping into full mount with 20 seconds to go, and he slugs Amil in the face until he sees an opening. Emmers batters Amil with two elbows and a concussive punch, and the fight has reached its conclusion. Emmers helps the defeated, spent Amil to his feet, but Amil is not quite ready to stand yet.

Hyder Amil vs. Jose Delgado
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Delgado (-180), Amil (+150)

Round 1
A protégé of Gilbert Melendez, Amil (11-0, 3-0 UFC) is hoping to represent the former Strikeforce champ well as he battles a man who has never won a fight on the scorecards. MMA Lab’s Delgado (9-1, 1-0 UFC) would love nothing more than to secure his sophomore UFC effort similar to his first, as he needed three minutes to demolish Connor Matthews in February. Referee Marc Goddard will keep tabs on this featherweight contest for as long as it lasts, and he steps back as the fighter clap hands.
Amil immediately tosses out a low kick after the glove touch. He throws another, leading Delgado to try to the fight down. The two scramble wildly when Amil counter-throws his foe to the mat, and they both explode back to their feet.
Delgado surges forward behind a three-punch salvo, and he looks to drive a knee straight through Amil’s head. Taking it square on the chin, Amil crashes to the ground in big trouble, and Delgado follows him and obliterates him with a bomb of a left hand and two crushing elbows. Amil goes out and comes back online, and Goddard steps in to stop the fight.
Amil is upset and stands right back up, but he is a little wobbled and confused. He has to be held up by Goddard and explained what happened to him. The previously undefeated fighter is crestfallen but calms himself down, while Delgado is on the map with a sub-30-second knockout over a man 11-0 mere moments before. In the throes of victory, Delgado calls for a fight against William Gomis at Noche UFC in September.

Hyder Amil

Angelo picks Hyder Amil because he believes Amil's durability and pace will be key against Jose Delgado, who is a dangerous finisher but untested in deep waters. He notes that Amil can take a beating and set a pace for 15 minutes, while Delgado may fade if he doesn't get an early finish. He thinks Amil's willingness to engage without hunting finishes will benefit him.

Angelo says bets are sketchy here and he is leaning on Amil's durability.
"Haider is going to be the pick. This is an exciting fight. The bets are probably sketchy here."

Big Brady Expert Lean picked Jun 21, 2025 (7 days before fight)
Jose Delgado

He notes Delgado is eight years younger, has a reach advantage, and can wrestle and submit opponents. Brady expects a war and thinks Delgado might mix in wrestling to get a submission. He picks Delgado by second-round submission, but acknowledges it could be a fight to just enjoy as a fan.

Hyder Amil vs. William Gomis
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Gomis (-198), Amil (+164)

Round 1
Hoping to keep his flawless record intact, Amil (10-0, 2-0 UFC) puts his 0 on the line against surging Frenchman Gomis (14-2, 4-0 UFC). Both men sport most of their pro wins by knockout while each holding a single victory via submission, while their respective chins have never been broken. If something’s gotta give for this featherweight collision, referee Chris Tognoni will make sure it is done on the up-and-up. A clap of hands leads to Amil surging forward with a high kick. When Gomis responds with a high kick, Amil grabs it and tries to hurl the Frenchman to the mat. Gomis fights out of it thanks to a fence grab, and when they separate, Tognoni makes sure to admonish him for that. Amil bears down on Gomis, slinging a right hand and shooting for a single. Gomis keeps himself upright with the wall at his back, sneaking in a knee when Amil is jockeying for position and trying to change levels. They trade knees in the clinch until splitting up, and Amil advances aggressively and dodges a flying knee to loop a right hand over the top. Gomis skirts away and kicks the body, staying elusive and evasive enough to dodge all but a big right hand from “The Hurricane.” Amil presses on Gomis again, doing some work until Gomis escapes again. Amil keeps after him, kicking the front leg until they once more clinch. Gomis breaks free with solid knee, and Amil does not back off and continues crowding him. Amil strikes with an elbow, Gomis responds and then spins with a back elbow that opens up a cut on the corner of Amil’s left eye. Gomis spins with a back fist, and goes to the well with another in rapid succession, spinning about to crack the unbeaten fighter with a right hand. Gomis scores and Amil fires back, and Gomis tries for one more spin. Amil shrugs it off and throws caution to the wind to engage, whipping a kick up high before the bell.

Round 2
The fighters tap their hands and get right back to the furious melee, with Amil cracking Gomis right out of the gate and swinging with everything he has. Gomis steels himself and batters the front leg a few times, backpedaling and eating a low kick as Amil blitzes him with punches that lead to a clinch. When Gomis changes levels, Amil slings him to the mat, and they both get up and start trading. Gomis busts Amil in the chops, but he does not slow him one iota. Tognoni warns for grabbing the gloves as they are going after it, and Amil continues pressing the action as if he was double-parked. Gomis spins with two back fists and keeps turning to drill the body with a kick, and Amil laughs them off and busts Gomis in the chops with a fierce right hand. Amil is fearless and not wilting when taking damage coming forward, as Gomis is accurate and making him pay any time Amil gets a bit too reckless. Gomis uses his head movement to sway around a few punches, but Amil dings him with an inside low kick and an overhand right. Gomis flashes out a right hand, chewing up Amil’s lead leg but not making him think twice about advancing. Amil scores with a big right hand, and they trade body kicks. Amil overswings, resulting in a clinch, and he knees Gomis in the face when Gomis leans over. Amil loads up with five right hands, and Gomis bides his time to counter with a massive right hand that stuns Amil. Amil keeps plodding ever forward, throwing punches in bunches and landing cleanly on the French fighter. Gomis bounces on his feet to shake it off when he resets, and Amil is on him before long putting hands on him. Gomis drills his man with a back fist, and Amil stays in his grill punching him with everything he has. Amil shoots suddenly for a double, and when it fails, he backs away to adjust his knee sleeve. Amil then charges in again, looping a left over the guard and pushing Gomis to the wall. Amil digs a knee to the thigh before the wild round ends.

Round 3
The featherweights come out swinging, taking full advantage of the 60-second respite so they can return to action. Amil does just what he did for the last 10 minutes, crashing forward throwing bombs. Gomis keeps his back to the wall, sticking his man with shots and prepping counters when he can muster them. Amil walks through punches that would fell lesser men so that he can swing back even harder. Amil gets clipped by a right hand and pushes Gomis back, and they go after one another’s lead leg with several kicks. Amil digs a kick to the body, drawing a smile out of the French fighter. Amil lets go with three right hands, and Gomis spins awkwardly with an elbow. Amil is on top of him putting punches on his target, and Gomis targets the body on hopes of slowing him down. Amil grips hold of a double, scooping Gomis up and depositing him gingerly to the canvas. Amil climbs on top in a quasi-half guard, with Gomis on his side trying to wriggle out, Amil flattens him out briefly and swarms him with left hands, and he switches to get off some right hands around the guard. Gomis gets to a knee with Amil draped behind over his back, and he explodes back to his feet. Gomis sticks out long punches to gain some space, and Amil swings for the bleachers from up close. Gomis attacks the body and gets off an uppercut, and Amil completely ignores it to drill Gomis with a crisp uppercut. Gomis has to actually shove Amil away to get just a second to breathe, and Amil is back in his face with volume to any target he can find. This is bonkers, the pace these two are putting in and the damage they have both not only sustained but ignored. The strike totals are high and extremely close, and Amil is aggressive as can be. Gomis strings several punches together, and Amil guards from them and strikes the body. Amil sells out with a throw that puts Gomis on the ground, and the French fighter gets back up. Amil relentlessly walks his man down, and they let it go right until the final bell sounds. What a fight.

Big Brady leans toward Hyder Amil, despite the wide line. He notes Amil's high volume, pressure, and ability to win in multiple ways (KO, submission, decision). He criticizes William Gomis for being boring and defensively responsible but lacking offense. He predicts Amil will put a pace on Gomis and finish him in the third round by KO.

Connor Ruebusch Expert Lean picked Feb 27, 2025 (2 days before fight)
Hyder Amil

Connor picks Amil as a fun flyer, noting that Amil is a violent, unthinking aggressor who can hurt Gomis early. He compares Amil to Sean Porter and notes that if Amil fights the fight that Joanderson Brito should have fought, Gomis can lose. Connor admits Gomis is a better neutralizer but takes the chance on Amil's power.

Same odds commentary as Zane.

The Guru picks William Gomis over Hyder Amil. He dismisses Amil's undefeated record, calling his wins unimpressive. He praises Gomis's performance against Joanderson Brito and his win over Francis Marshall. He predicts Gomis will pick Amil apart at range and get a late finish in the second or third round.

"I'm going to go William Gomez... I'm going to say he gets a finish later in this fight... late in the second or the third round for a finish."

William Gomis

Zane picks Gomis, seeing this as a classic neutralizer vs. unthinking aggressor matchup. He notes that Amil is a wind-up toy who doesn't adjust, and Gomis's style of backing up and tying up should work. Zane acknowledges that Gomis can be hurt but believes Amil will walk into his clinch game repeatedly.

Gomis opened -203, now -182; Amil opened +154, now +161.
"I think I will still pick gomi."

Hyder Amil vs. Jeong Yeong Lee
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Lee (-185), Amil (+154)

Round 1
Bumped up to the main card due to some Friday card changes, Road to UFC Season 2 pickup Lee (11-1, 2-0 UFC) gets to show his stuff on ESPN. He will trade blows with Gilbert Melendez-trained Amil (9-0, 1-0 UFC), whose unbeaten record is on the line. Win streaks of eight and nine, respectively, will meet, and referee Mark Smith will handle the particulars. The surging featherweights do not touch ‘em up, with Lee racing out of his corner only to be met with a snappy front kick. Lee barely blocks the strike in time and gets clipped with a right hand when coming forward. Lee pushes forward with a front kick, and the two decide that it would be in their best interest to start brawling. Amil gets his bell rung during the wild exchange and backs off, and he clears his head and gets right back to it. The two throw everything they have at one another, blasting one another so violently that commentator Daniel Cormier starts squeaking.
“The Hurricane” unleashes an incredible storm of offense, swinging with hook after devastating hook to bat Lee’s head around like a 145-pound speed bag. Lee tries feebly to throw back, and he manages to connect with some, but Amil is not about to stop throwing. After about three dozen ridiculous punches wreck Lee, who is leaning against the cage wall to keep himself upright, Smith rushes between them to call off the fight.
Lee does not protest, as he is teetering on the edge of consciousness after absorbing so many hellacious blows in such a short span. Amil peels back and celebrates his handiwork that took just over a minute, pushing his record to 10-0 and putting the entire division on notice. What a way to practically guarantee yourself a post-fight bonus. After the fight concludes, commentator Laura Sanko admits that the fight "broke her pants." Imagine that as you will.

Amil is a +155 underdog. He has relentless pressure, endless takedowns, and excellent cardio. Lee is the better striker but may fade as Amil continues to push the pace and take damage. Amil's ability to stay in his opponent's face and grind them down could lead to a decision win or a late finish. I see this fight closer to 50/50 than the odds suggest.

Hyder Amil vs. Fernie Garcia
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Amil (-185), Garcia (+154)

Round 1
Moving along to the featherweight division, Garcia (10-4, 0-3 UFC) is in desperate need of a win and very likely will be fighting for his job in this outing. He faces unbeaten debutant Amil (8-0, 0-0 UFC), who is also a Dana White’s Contender Series and Legacy Fighting Alliance vet. The two men come together under the watchful gaze of referee Mark Smith to share a respectful touch of gloves, and they go back to their corners to prepare for combat. Amil races out to fire off a head kick, and he aims one to the body before switching to the other leg for a high kick on the other side. Garcia keeps defensive and tosses out a few jabs to keep Amil from advancing without absorbing something, but Amil crashes the pocket. Amil ducks down and lifts his man up to slam him down, and Garcia scrambles to get back to his feet. Amil attempts a mat return, and Garcia once more is able to get back up. Amil backpedals and returns to his preferred kicking range, booting the body with his left leg and nailing Garcia’s front leg with his right. Amil watches Garcia wander towards him and tags him with an overhand right, and he blocks a trio of punches that follow. Amil catches Garcia with a right hand in the midst of a combination, and Garcia drops to the ground as Smith tells him to fight back. Garcia stands, and Amil drives a knee to the jaw to hurt him again. Garcia shakes out the cobwebs as he takes oncoming fire, and he musters up all of his energy and senses to power back to his feet and rail Amil with a huge right hand. Amil is stunned from it, but he takes a moment to blink it out and engages in a brief firefight with his opponent. Amil continues to do work with knees to the head as he bends Garcia over, and he connects with strikes that make Garcia hit the ground again. Amil takes the back in a wild scramble, and he hunts for a choke but there is nothing to be had. Garcia turns over and gets into Amil’s guard, and he snakes to the side and secures Amil’s back as he continues moving. Garcia locks up the body triangle, and he starts fishing for his own rear-naked choke. Garcia cannot lock it down, and Amil explodes out of the position and reverses Garcia. Amil jumps to the side to snatch up an armbar, but Garcia sees it coming. Amil drives down some ground-and-pound before standing up to belt Garcia in the ribs with a powerful kick. Garcia is barely in the fight, on his knees, with Amil pummeling and Smith asking him to keep fighting. Amil lands another vicious body kick and concludes the round with heavy standing-to-ground punches, and Garcia is saved by the bell after a wild five-minute stretch.

Round 2
The two featherweights meet in the middle, and it is evident after one single exchange that Garcia’s legs are not back beneath him. Amil is a man on a mission, slamming Garcia in the face with a flurry of furious fists, and Garcia is tougher than a two-dollar steak at this point. Garcia swings back recklessly, not necessarily aiming at anything in particular but just throwing punches wildly. Amil snipes him with body shots and long head shots, weaving in and out to avoid Garcia’s flailing arms while working him over. Amil continues to beat Garcia down, thrashing the body with kick and a knee, and Garcia might be out on his feet at this point. Amil does not slow down, and Garcia has to hold himself up with the fence behind him. As Amil connects with a stern knee to the torso, he backs off to observe his work before darting in for the figurative kill. Garcia’s spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised.
With Garcia on the ropes, “The Hurricane” unleashes a storm of relentless punches until Smith has seen enough and saves Garcia from his own toughness.
Amil is still undefeated after putting on a thriller, and he is all smiles as he drapes the American flag around his shoulders.

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Aug 20, 2023 (6 days before fight)
Rinya Nakamura

Angelo believes Nakamura is a high-level wrestler with powerful striking and should dominate Garcia. He notes that Nakamura is a -700 favorite, but he personally avoids betting such heavy favorites due to the risk, citing examples like Valentina Shevchenko losing as a huge favorite. He thinks Nakamura wins 99 out of 100 times but won't lay the price.

"ring is going to dominate if you want to lay out 700 bucks to win 100 or 7 000 win a thousand go for it it should cash but I'd rather not part with that much money"

He sees this as a terrible matchup for Fernie Garcia, who was dominated by a lesser wrestler in Brady Hiestand. He expects Nakamura to finish the fight in the first round, whether by knockout or submission, and criticizes the matchmaking.

Daniel Levi Expert Confident picked Aug 24, 2023 (2 days before fight)
Rinya Nakamura

Daniel picks Rinya Nakamura, citing his Olympic-level wrestling and power. He notes that Nakamura can fall back on his wrestling if the striking gets tough, and that Garcia is a liability on the ground. He mentions that Garcia has heavy hands but low output and poor takedown defense. He is confident Nakamura wins, though he notes that Nakamura sometimes gets clipped standing.

"I think renya is one of the better Japanese prospects and you know I I'm picking him to win here it's just the question is knock out submission or decision"

Lucrative James Expert Confident picked Aug 26, 2023 (fight day)
Rinya Nakamura

James is confident Nakamura wins but does not bet due to the short odds. He notes Nakamura is a brutal round one finisher but warns that the fight could go to decision if Nakamura wrestles. He sees Garcia as a tough guy who can survive, and considers the over 1.5 rounds at +150 as a potential play, though he ultimately passes.

Paul agrees Nakamura is a huge favorite and a setup fight by the UFC. He notes Nakamura's wrestling and physicality will be too much for Garcia. Paul expects a win but is cautious about the price, suggesting a decision or submission.

He praises Nakamura's wrestling background, KO power, and chin, calling him one of the best prospects. He dismisses Garcia as a 31-year-old on a two-fight losing streak. He believes Nakamura has advantages in wrestling, stand-up, power, and chin, and will smoke Garcia in the first two minutes.

Angelo Bodetti Expert Lean picked Apr 30, 2022 (7 days before fight)
Fernie Garcia

Angelo gives a slight lean to Fernie Garcia, acknowledging that Garcia is the more technical fighter and uses wrestling better than Newson. However, he worries that Garcia's contender series knockout might make him overconfident in striking exchanges. He hopes Garcia sticks to a wrestling game plan to secure a win.

"I'm giving a slight lean to fernie here but i am worried that the contender series knockout has him thinking that he can trade strike for strike with newson"

Journey Newson

Big Brady picks Journey Newson to win by decision as an underdog. He believes the line is off because Garcia is getting the contender series hype. Newson has fought tougher competition (Ricardo Ramos, Randy Costa) and is well-rounded with power and a BJJ black belt. Garcia is a good wrestler but has low power and is hittable. Brady thinks the fight will be close on the feet, and Newson's experience gives him the edge. He expects Newson to win a competitive decision.

Journey Newson

Cody picks Journey Newson as his third underdog. He notes that Garcia has been in many split decisions and lacks finishing ability. Newson has power and could hurt Garcia if they exchange. Cody acknowledges the unknowns due to Newson's layoff but sees value at +130.

Fernie Garcia

Daniel Levi picks Fernie Garcia, citing his durability and Mexican warrior spirit. He thinks Garcia can eat Newson's best shots and outlast him. He is not confident and does not like the price, so he does not bet. He notes Newson is a liability to get dropped.

Daniel does not bet this fight. He mentions Garcia by decision but no bet.
"Give me Fernie Garcia. Not the most confident pick and do not like the price either."

Journey Newson

The host believes Journey Newson is being disrespected as the underdog. He notes Newson's good jiu-jitsu and takedown ability, and expects him to take the fight to the ground to counter Fernie Garcia's striking pressure. He criticizes Garcia's close decision fights and mediocre competition. He predicts Newson wins via decision or submission.

Journey Newson

Paul leans towards Journey Newson as an underdog. He notes that Newson kept it competitive against Ricardo Ramos and has power. Paul thinks Garcia is a boxer by trade but this is MMA, and Newson's power could be a factor. He is not fully confident but prefers Newson.

Fernie Garcia

The MMA Guru picks Fernie Garcia, citing his favorite status and belief that he will win by TKO early in the first round. He notes that Journey Newson has been KO'd multiple times and lacks the physicality to keep up with Garcia. He also trusts Garcia's chin due to his ethnicity, suggesting he doesn't get KO'd easily. He predicts Garcia will put Newson away against the cage in the first round.

"i'm gonna side with fernie garcia here he is the favorite and i do believe that he's gonna get this one done maybe by tko early on in the first round"

Hyder Amil

Angelo notes that Hyder Amil is an aggressive striker with a solid chin and power, but he can end up in bad positions on the ground and gave up five takedowns on the Contender Series. Fernie Garcia is on short notice and has lost three in a row, but his losses have come to grapplers. Angelo would pick Garcia with a full camp, but given the short notice, he leans toward Amil. He expects Amil to be a sizable favorite once odds are released.

"Haider is going to be the pick."

Hyder Amil

Big Brady picks Hyder Amil to win by decision. He notes that Amil's poor cardio in his Contender Series fight was due to defending 23 takedowns, but this matchup is completely different as Garcia is a boxer who won't wrestle. He likes Amil's forward pressure, volume, and power advantage, and thinks Garcia is tough but coming in on short notice up a weight class.

Hyder Amil

Cody picks Amil but is not confident. He notes Amil is 33 with few fights and unimpressive wins. Garcia is moving up on short notice and is 0-3 in the UFC, but has shown durability. Cody thinks Amil should win but sees many red flags. He is not planning to bet it.

MMA Lock of the Night Expert Confident picked Feb 5, 2024 (5 days before fight)
Hyder Amil

Amil has a significant size and strength advantage, with a 3-inch height and reach edge. He is an all-gas-no-breaks grappler who should be able to take Garcia down and grind out a decision. Garcia is on a three-fight losing streak and has struggled against better grapplers. Amil's grappling alone should be enough to get him into the rankings.

"I think amil's size Advantage here I believe it's a 3-in height and 3-in reach Advantage not to mention the strength Advantage he should likely have here this should allow him to get this fight into uncompromising positions for fery Garcia which will allow Emil to grind this fight out …"

Paul leans toward Garcia as a dog, noting Amil's unimpressive tape and Garcia's durability. He thinks Garcia has never been knocked out and has shown good grappling defense. Paul is waiting to see the weigh-ins but is tempted by the dog price.

The MMA Guru Expert Confident picked Feb 7, 2024 (3 days before fight)
Hyder Amil

The MMA Guru picks Hyder Amil because he is fighting Fernie Garcia, who is on a three-fight losing streak. He recalls Amil's high-paced grappling match on the Contender Series where he stuffed takedowns and pushed the pace. He believes Amil can out-grapple Garcia and win by decision.

"Hayer raill's win the fight because he's fighting Fernie Garcia... I'm going to go with Hider aill... I think if he can put grappling on fony Garcia I don't think FY Garcia is all that dangerous."
