Angelo picks Mallory Martin as an underdog, trusting her power and wrestling. He notes Cheyanne's takedown defense is poor outside the Ruiz fight, and she had COVID and personal distractions. Angelo thinks Martin can lean on wrestling and power, but has no money on it.
Big Brady picks Cheyanne Vlismas to win by decision, but he is not confident and says he would not recommend laying the chalk. He notes Vlismas has a striking advantage with good volume and aggression, and her takedown defense is solid outside of the Ruiz fight. He is concerned about Mallory Martin's grappling if she can get the fight down, but he questions Martin's striking after she was dropped by Hannah Cifers. He thinks the line might be off but still goes with Vlismas.
Cody also does not make a pick, agreeing with Paul. He notes Vlismas's COVID recovery and the uncertainty around her training. Cody thinks Martin could have a cardio advantage but doesn't want to bet either side.
Daniel Levi picks Cheyanne Vlismas to win, citing her aggression, willingness to stand and trade, and natural fighter instinct. He notes that Mallory Martin has looked nervous and has been beaten up in her UFC career. He acknowledges Martin's path to victory via takedowns and top control but doesn't trust Martin to execute. He thinks Vlismas can avoid takedowns and land harder shots.
Jacob picks Cheyanne Vlismas, citing her mean streak and aggression. He notes she was embarrassed by the Ruiz loss and has improved. Jacob thinks she will come in with even more aggression and win, but he also has a plus 3.5 round bet on Mallory Martin.
I lean Martin. Her wrestling is her strength and she should look to take Vlismas down. Vlismas has limited data off her back and struggled in the scarf hold against Montserrat Ruiz. If Martin can get top position, she can control the fight. However, Martin is not very reliable and has been submitted from top position before. I like Martin by decision at plus 250.
Paul does not make a pick, citing Vlismas's recent COVID issues and personal drama. He thinks the -190 price is too high for a fighter who was sick and might have cardio problems. Paul suggests fading her in live betting if she slows down.
The MMA Guru picks Cheyanne Vlismas to win by 29-27 unanimous decision. He expects Mallory Martin to win the first round via takedowns and control, but Vlismas will stuff takedowns in the second and third, landing knees and punches. He predicts a dominant third round for Vlismas, possibly a 10-8, as Martin gasses.

Up next is a women’s strawweight bout as finish-minded Brazilian Viana (11-4, 2-3 UFC) looks to even her UFC record to .500 at the expense of Invicta FC vet Martin (7-3, 1-1 UFC). Drawing the assignment for this interesting style matchup is referee Mark Smith, and the two ladies touch ‘em up before getting down to business. Martin immediately throws a pair of punches to the body, and she gets countered but walks forward to plant her fists on Viana’s midsection again. Martin walks forward with a similar salvo, but this time, Viana is ready for her. Viana has a one-two blocked, but she lands a body kick and falls to her back pulling guard. Martin obliges by wading into the Brazilian’s guard, where she stays tight and does not expose her limbs or put herself in unnecessary danger. Viana starts throwing strikes off her back, with punches landing on the ear and elbows hacking on the scalp. Martin postures up, and she falls into a triangle choke that is instantly locked up. Martin rolls with the position but does not break it, and Viana pursues an armbar before bailing it to slash at Martin’s forehead with elbows. Martin loosens the grip to breathe a little as she gets to a crouching position, but she slams Viana down and puts herself in even worse position. “Dama de Ferro” tightens her legs and Martin is still fighting through the very bad spot, taking elbows all the while.
Viana wrenches on to a keylock while Martin is trapped tightly, and Martin rolls to her back but falls victim to an armbar attempt. Viana wrenches on the arm with everything she has, and Martin can gut through it no more, tapping out lest her arm get snapped.
With her submission victory, Viana maintains her perfect finish rate through 12 career wins.
The Official Result
Polyana Viana def. Mallory Martin R1 3:18 via Submission (Armbar)
Big Brady picks Mallory Martin to win by decision. He initially leaned towards Viana but after digging in, he thinks Martin will get top control and stay safe. He notes that Viana was submitted by Veronica Macedo and that Hannah Cifers stayed safe on top against Viana. He believes Martin's wrestling and top control will be the difference, though he is not high on Martin after her fight with Cifers.
Daniel Levi picks Polyana Viana to win by first-round finish. He notes that Viana is a first-round finish or bust, with most wins coming in the first round. He acknowledges Martin's toughness and heart but points out her slow starts. He believes Viana can catch Martin early, but if it goes to the scorecards, he would edge Martin. He predicts a first-round finish for Viana.
The host picks Viana as a dog, believing her jiu-jitsu will be the difference if the fight goes to the ground. He notes that Martin's wrestling could play into Viana's submission game, and that Viana's reckless style makes a finish likely. He also likes the under 2.5 rounds prop at +190.
The Guru picks Mallory Martin, largely because Polyana Viana lost to Hannah Cifers, which he considers disqualifying. He believes Martin will win the ground exchanges and positional control, earning a unanimous decision. He does not see a submission for Martin but expects her to edge out a grappling-heavy decision.

Big Brady is confident in Martin, citing her wrestling and BJJ advantage over Cifers, who has been finished in five of six losses. He sees Martin getting Cifers down and finding a submission or ground-and-pound finish. He likes the inside the distance prop at +230.
Daniel Levi picks Mallory Martin but is hesitant due to the high price. He believes Martin's path to victory is takedowns and ground control, as Cifers struggles on the mat. However, he thinks the line is too high and that Cifers could win if it stays standing. He expects a close fight, possibly a split decision.
Martin wants the fight on the ground where she can submit or ground-and-pound, but she's unproven at UFC level. Cifers has power and could keep it standing, but her fight IQ is questionable and she's on a losing streak. The -325 line is too steep; I'm not confident enough to bet it.
The host picks Mallory Martin, citing that Hannah Cifers has taken too much damage recently and is on a losing streak. He notes Cifers' quick turnaround after a TKO loss and believes Martin's youth and freshness will be key. He predicts a close decision win for Martin.

Big Brady picks Mackenzie Dern to win by submission in the second round. He thinks Dern is better everywhere and that once she takes Cifers down, the fight will be over quickly due to Dern's elite BJJ. He notes that Cifers was taken down and finished by Angela Hill, so Dern should have no trouble. He sees no path to victory for Cifers.
Daniel picks Dern by submission, contingent on her getting a takedown. He notes that Dern's striking may not look -450, but if the fight hits the mat, she is a -4500 favorite. He acknowledges Dern's low takedown accuracy but believes she can take Cifers down and finish quickly.
The MMA Guru picks Mackenzie Dern to win by submission in the first or second round. He cites her jiu-jitsu advantage and size advantage, and predicts she will miss weight and use that to her advantage. He dismisses the striking in women's MMA as generally poor.

Dropping down to the lightest division, women's strawweight, we are treated to a potential brawl as Hill (10-7, 5-7 UFC) tries to embark upon the first win streak of her UFC tenure against Cifers (10-3, 2-1 UFC). Surprisingly, Hill bucks her trend of great punk and metal walkout songs by switching it up to "Hell Yeah" by Dead Prez. Trying to keep up with this fight will be referee Kevin MacDonald. There is no glove touch, and instead a leg kick from Cifers as Hill walks forward to open up with punches. Both swing at each other and land partially, and then do so again. The two wing punches, and Cifers lands a leg kick on the break. Hill lands a straight left to the body, and Cifers throws back with a left hook. As Cifers throws another leg kick, Hill counters over the top. Hill sticks out a jab, and Cifers backs off so Hill chases with an uppercut. Hill lands with a solid left, and Cifers smiles and throws right back at her. The jab continues to land for Hill, so Cifers bites down on her mouthpiece and fires a four-punch combination back. Halting the movement again with a jab, Hill is able to keep her distance and stay out of the way from the looping punches from Cifers. Cifers does catch Hill on the end of a right hand, but Hill is unconcerned as she throws right back. At this pace, the punch totals are going to sizeable at the end of this fight. Hill ends a combination with a kick, and Cifers grins again, so Hill crashes forward to take the smile off her face with a few knees. Hill lands a heavy right to the body, and evades the counter in time. A low kick from Hill forces Cifers to momentarily switch stances until the North Carolina native clinches up. Hill reverses the position but eats a knee, and Cifers tags her with a right as the two swing heavily. Hill overcommits with a left hook and Cifers throws back but does not land flush, so Hill follows with a right that does score. A spinning strike from Hill and a flurry from both ends the round.

Round 2
Both women trade leather immediately out of the gate, with Cifers throwing a few kicks to the legs and body as they brawl. Hill digs to the body with a right, and as she backs away she takes another low kick. Cifers continues to work that lead leg of Hill with two more, and evades the counters from Hill. Hill steps in with a knee, and then sweeps the legs out from beneath Cifers and lands in side control. “Overkill” grinds her elbow on the face of Cifers, but she does not throw one as she instead looks to possibly set up a submission as she steps over guard. In three-quarter mount, Hill rains down punches and advances to mount. Hill slashes down with some massive elbows, and Cifers can do nothing but absorb them. Hill keeps a high mount and continues the fury in the form of more elbows and a few punches for good measure.
A cut forms on the side of Cifers' head, and the blood begins to flow as Hill slams down elbow after elbow. MacDonald is taking a close eye on the action now, and every elbow Hill lands, he leans a little closer. Hill senses the finish, and throws several heavy punches that finally make MacDonald call the fight.
The crowd erupts into boos, upset that their hometown fighter lost by stoppage. This is a major win for Hill, who is now on the first win streak in her 13-fight UFC career.

The MMA Guru picks Angela Hill, noting she is long for the division, rangy, and awkward. He believes Hannah Cifers will struggle to get inside. He also mentions Hill's win over Ariane Carnelossi and feels Hill performed better against Jodie Esquibel.

Expert Picks (4)
