Pannie Kianzad vs. Karol Rosa
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Rosa (-205), Kianzad (+170)

Round 1
A women’s bantamweight tilt pitting Kianzad (16-8, 5-5 UFC) against Rosa (17-6, 6-3 UFC) closes out the preliminaries and should provide some clarity in terms of mid-card pecking order at 135 pounds. Kianzad enters the Octagon on the heels of back-to-back losses, having fallen back to the .500 mark within the promotion. Beltran administers the law and order. No glove touch. Kianzad jabs to the body. Rosa answers with a leg kick, then another. The impact spins around Kianzad. Another low kick from Rosa, whose game plan comes into view inside the first minute. One-two from Rosa. Inside leg kick from the Brazilian. Kianzad answers with an overhand left, but she eats yet another leg kick. Kianzad doubles up on the jab but misses the target. Rosa cuts loose with a two-punch volley and mixes in an inside leg kick. Jab from Rosa, then a low kick. Kianzad responds with a sharp right hand, followed by a left hook. The Swede now doing all she can to keep her leg out of harm’s way. No luck. Rosa finds the mark with another kick. They exchange in the center. Kianzad fires a three-punch volley, resets and lands a right hand. Leg kick from Rosa. Kianzad goes to throw a kick, loses her balance and hits the deck. Back on the feet, Rosa greets her with a flying knee.

Round 2
This could get ugly if Kianzad does not address the kicks. She doubles up on the left hook. Rosa answers with multiple low kicks, then steps into an elbow. They trade in the center. Rosa continues to damage the legs, then opens a cut on the forehead with another elbow. Blood streams down between Kianzad’s eyes. Rosa backs her up with punches, shields herself from the return fire and gets her hands in gear again. Kianzad welcomes her into the clinch with a knee to the ribs. Rosa responds with short-range elbow. Kianzad’s lead leg has swelled to twice its normal size. Rosa lands a short left hook. Jab from Rosa, then a leg kick. Kianzad hops in visible distress. Less than a minute to go. Nice one-two from Kianzad. Rosa answers with a jab and follows it with a leg kick. Kianzad is going to have a hard time going to sleep. Rosa jabs at the end of the middle stanza and closes with a kick.

Round 3
They clinch to start the third round. Rosa controls the position and mixes in a few elbows before they separate. Rosa with a one-two. A significant hematoma now developing outside of Kianzad’s right eye. Rosa executes a takedown, likely surprising the Swede. Kianzad scores with short punches and elbows from the bottom. Blood becoming more of an issue for the former Cage Warriors champion. Kianzad gets to a knee, builds a base and gets back to her feet. Halfway home in Round 3. Rosa presses her into the fence and creates enough space to rip some elbows upstairs. Punches follow. Somebody get Kianzad some ice. Rosa continues to crowd her along the cage, bleeding time off the clock. She alternates between clinching and punching. Stellar performance from the Brazilian. They trade knees as the fight ends.

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Aug 4, 2024 (6 days before fight)
Karol Rosa

Angelo picks Karol Rosa due to her insane volume (204 significant strikes in a three-round fight), pressure, and grit. He notes that Pannie is a more technical boxer but will struggle if she's on her back foot against Rosa's volume. He also mentions Rosa has solid takedown offense and defense.

Over 2.5 rounds should be safe but got burned on that last time with Pannie
"HOSA is the pick"

Cody Saftic Expert Confident picked Aug 7, 2024 (3 days before fight)
Pannie Kianzad

Cody also picks Kianzad, calling Rosa's style frustrating and noting she doesn't use her BJJ or adjust game plans. He believes Kianzad lands better shots and has a plus number, making her the play. He mentions both have been knocked down by Lena Lansburg, which is a useless but funny stat.

"total doger pass total CF dot model peny kad's got A plus number next to her name that's my pick this week"

MMA Lock of the Night Expert Lean picked Aug 5, 2024 (5 days before fight)
Karol Rosa

Rosa is the better overall fighter with a more well-rounded game, but her lack of urgency in past fights is a concern. She can win by mixing in grappling behind her striking, but the fight likely goes to a split decision. The line is a bit high; waiting for a better price around -130 to -140 is advised.

Rosa by split decision; maybe taking either woman to win by split decision
"I still am going to lean on the HOSA side here as I think she's the better overall fighter and I'm really hoping that she decides to go to a grappling here behind her striking so she can separate herself …"

Paul Shaughnessy Expert Confident picked Aug 7, 2024 (3 days before fight)
Pannie Kianzad

Paul picks Kianzad at plus 180, viewing the fight as a coin flip striking affair. He criticizes Rosa's lack of fight IQ, poor takedown defense, and inability to adjust. He notes Kianzad has better striking volume and can land the better shots.

"I took uh I found a plus 180 uh earlier this morning and uh took Penny keed that's uh that's where I'm at here"

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Mar 11, 2024 (5 days before fight)
Macy Chiasson

Angelo acknowledges Kianzad has a big striking advantage with her boxing, but she was unable to get up off the bottom in her last fight against Ketlen Vieira. Chiasson has added grappling to her game, taking down Norma Dumont six times and Irene Aldana three times. He thinks Chiasson will get takedowns and hold Kianzad down. He also suggests a plus 3.5 round bet on Kianzad as she might win a round on the feet.

Pannie Kianzad +3.5 rounds (buying points) if odds drop

Macy Chiasson

Big Brady picks Macy Chiasson to win by decision. He expects Chiasson's size and physicality to be too much for Kianzad, allowing her to control the fight against the cage and on the mat. He references Kianzad's recent loss to Vieira as a blueprint.

Cody Saftic Expert Lean picked Mar 13, 2024 (3 days before fight)
Macy Chiasson

Cody leans toward Macy Chiasson, citing her size, physicality, and grappling advantage. He notes she has choked Kianzad out before and is the better grappler. However, he is wary of the minus 240 line due to Chiasson's weight cut struggles and long layoff. He suggests waiting for weigh-ins before betting.

"Macy Chiasson... she's a bigger stronger more physical bruiser on the feet... she's already choked her out once."

Lucrative James Expert Confident picked Mar 12, 2024 (4 days before fight)
Macy Chiasson

Lucrative James picks Macy Chiasson to win, likely by submission or ground-and-pound TKO. He notes that Chiasson is physically stronger, has better grappling, and finished Kianzad before on The Ultimate Fighter. He also questions whether Kianzad has lost a step and mentions Chiasson's recent performances against tough opponents. He expresses concern about Chiasson's weight cut but still expects her to win.

Chiasson by submission
"I'm gonna go with Chase on here to get a submission win again maybe she gets a ground and pound TKO."

MMA Lock of the Night Expert Confident picked Mar 15, 2024 (1 day before fight)
Macy Chiasson

The host acknowledges Kianzad's striking advantage but believes she will be frustrated by Chiasson's grapple-heavy approach. He notes Chiasson's ability to bully opponents in the clinch and get fights to the ground easily, where she can rough up Kianzad from top position for the majority of the fight and win by decision.

"I think we'll see kiasan Drager to the mat rougher up from that top position and keep her there for the majority of 15 minutes eventually getting her hand raised by decision"

Paul Shaughnessy Expert picked Mar 13, 2024 (3 days before fight)

Paul passes on betting this fight, noting Chiasson's weight cut issues and unimpressive recent performances. He mentions the bizarre liver kick loss to Aldana and questions her durability. He does not pick a winner and says it's a pass from a betting perspective.

"There's no way I bet minus 240 on Macy Chiasson it's going to be a pass from a betting perspective."

The MMA Guru Expert Confident picked Mar 12, 2024 (4 days before fight)
Macy Chiasson

The Guru picks Macy Chiasson, citing her physicality, power, and improved kicks. He notes she outmuscled Kianzad in their first fight and choked her out. He believes Chiasson has more options in the clinch and at range, and that Kianzad is purely a boxer with a reach disadvantage. He expects Chiasson to win by decision, possibly 30-27 or 29-28.

Pannie Kianzad vs. Ketlen Vieira
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Vieira (-150), Kianzad (+130)

Round 1
The fight with arguably the greatest title implications tonight is buried in the middle of the prelims, as the women’s bantamweight division is still championless and the perceived “uncrowned queen” of Holly Holm was knocked down a peg last week. Both women on the outside of the UFC’s top five looking in, Vieira (13-3, 7-3 UFC) and Kianzad (16-6, 5-3 UFC) will engage in a crucial contest at 135 pounds. With neither woman sporting a stoppage rate over 50%, referee Jason Herzog could be in it for the long haul here. Vieira offers a glove touch, but Kianzad wants nothing to do with it. Instead, Kianzad races forward pushing out straight punches down the middle. Vieira dodges back and reaches out with a heavy right hand, and Kianzad is out of the way in time. Vieira sticks out a jab, and Kianzad catches her with a left hand and a right over the top. Kianzad pokes out a jab, and she follows with a left hook that bounces off the guard. Vieira shoots in for a low single-leg takedown, and she lifts Kianzad’s leg up and throws her down to land right in side control. Kianzad recovers to half guard when Vieira sets up an arm-triangle choke, and the Brazilian still has her left arm hooked around the head of her opponent. Vieira looks to isolate Kianzad’s left arm for a potential armlock, and Kianzad turns to her side to stop it from coming together. Vieira powers her back over with shoulder pressure, smothering “Banzai” and returning her flat to her back. Kianzad gets back to a guard and she sets up butterfly hooks to push off, and this allows Vieira to punch her square in the face. Kianzad responds with a few strikes off her back, but the ones she absorbs from “Fenomeno” are far heavier. Kianzad looks to push off the midsection, but Vieira stays heavy as a ton of bricks and steps into the half guard. Vieira controls her adversary and presses her shoulder into Kianzad’s face and neck, and frustrating the Swede. Vieira grabs hold of the left arm and isolates it to grip for a kimura, and Kianzad protects herself by putting it under her back. As Vieira shifts to north-south position, the bell rings.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Vieira

Round 2
The ladies meet in the middle of the cage, and Kianzad leads off with a looping left hook. Vieira blocks it and replies in kind, and the strike from the Brazilian glances off the raised guard. When Kianzad kicks low, Vieira gives her three punches over the top. Kianzad steps in to punch, and Vieira snatches up the lead leg and easily throws Kianzad to the canvas. Vieira goes right to half guard, and a desperate Kianzad is able to pull her into her guard and closes it up. Kianzad times a moment in transition to push her foot off Vieira’s body, but Vieira is able to casually shift back over the half guard. Vieira starts hunting for a kimura, and Kianzad defends it but starts taking heavy body shots. Vieira gloms onto her, and she hops into full mount and quickly locks down an arm-triangle choke. Vieira squeezes with her full body weight, and Kianzad defends it with her left arm between the grip of her opponent and her own neck. Kianzad turns the proper way to protect her neck, and Vieira abandons the submission. Kianzad explodes to her side, and she attempts to turn over and get to her knees so she can get back up. Vieira bowls her over and puts her on her back again. With 30 seconds remaining, Vieira tries to lock down an arm-triangle choke on the other side, but Kianzad is wise to it and is not in submission danger. The round ends with Vieira on top.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Vieira

Round 3
A fire seemingly lit under her backside, Kianzad springs right into action, rushing at Vieira with punches in bunches. When Kianzad overextends on a left hook, Vieira smartly changes levels, coming up with a clean double-leg takedown to put Kianzad on her back 15 seconds into the final frame. Kianzad does everything she can to scoot her way to the wall, and this gives up her back in the process. Vieira leans with her back against the fencing, holding onto Kianzad from behind and sliding her hooks in. The leverage for any submission is not there, until she turns to lower herself to the floor. Vieira sets up a rear-naked choke, and Kianzad hand-fights to save herself from getting tapped. When Kianzad thwarts the choke, Vieira locks up a body triangle to further make Kianzad’s life miserable. Kianzad is able to defend from the choke setups, and she grits her teeth and spins around to secure top position with about two minutes left in the fight. Kianzad opens up with punches when she winds up on top, and Vieira clings to her to shut down the offense. Kianzad frees herself and stands up, and she jumps down to nail Vieira with a diving right hand. As Kianzad does damage from the guard, the commentary team starts discussing people walking their cats in strollers. All the while, Kianzad is doing anything she can to hunt for a finish, flailing with punches and hammerfists. Vieira pushes off with the ball of her foot, and she smacks Kianzad in the face with one illegally. Herzog checks on Kianzad, who says she is fine and wants to keep going. Kianzad rains down punches to any target, marking up Vieira’s right eye, and swinging frantically. Vieira throws her legs up high for a triangle choke, and she simultaneously grips an armbar, and the horn blares.

Ketlen Vieira

Daniel slightly leans toward Ketlen Vieira, noting she has historically been on a higher level and is stronger in the clinch with better top control. "I'm going to be going with Panikad to get the job done by decision."

Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Lina Lansberg
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Silva (-435), Lansberg (+350)

Round 1
The only fighters tonight holding a ranked spot on the roster are the four women competing. Before the big-time main event, two bantamweights on the outer edge of the top 15 will look to maintain or improve that number. Lansberg (10-7, 4-6 UFC), at the age of 40 and on a three-fight skid dating back to 2020, has her back against the wall. Meanwhile, Silva (9-2-1, 4-2-1 UFC) has gotten her hand raised both times in 2022 with plenty of momentum on her side, and a potential passing of the torch moment might be coming soon. The ladies will be joined by referee Jacob Montalvo, who clocks them in right before they bump fists. Lansberg reaches her hands out to hand-fight, and Silva leads off with a low kick. Lansberg, with her fingers outstretched, jab straight into the Brazilian’s right eye, and we have a pause about 15 seconds into the match. Silva blinks it out and is good to go before long, and they resume. Lansberg scores a jab, and Silva flails back with punches and spins with a back kick to the liver. Lansberg wears it well but is backed against the cage, and Silva is on top of her landing strikes to the head and body before disengaging. They go back to hand-fighting before Silva plods forward with two body kicks. Lansberg looks to get off a standing elbow up close, but Silva stops it and kicks her in the calf and then ribs. A punch from Silva forces Lansberg to ricochet off the fencing, and they clinch up to allow Lansberg to rip an elbow over the top. Silva breaks off and lets fly with a barrage of leg kicks and follow-up shins to the liver area. Silva stabs her toes to the body with a subsequent kick, and Lansberg takes it flush and walks her down to clinch up and strike up close. Silva is the one that gets off elbows on the inside, and not “Elbow Queen,” as she mixes in knees before they separate. Lansberg looks to search for the clinch again, and she scores a few knees and uppercuts before Silva unloads with a knee to the body to get her to break up. Silva spins with another back kick to the body, and Lansberg ties her up and knees the ribs. Silva spins her around up against the wire, and they trade knees one after the other. Silva changes levels in search of a single-leg takedown, and the Swede sprawls and gets her legs tripped up briefly. Silva muscles Lansberg down to the mat, dropping the 40-year-old right on her face. Silva moves to half guard as Lansberg winds up on her back, and she slashes down with a quick elbow. Silva fights off a sweep attempt and hacks down with another elbow before the bell.

Round 2
The second round begins with a sharp striking exchange, with Lansberg pushing the pace early and winging elbows when clinching up. Silva pushes her away and pounds the calf with kicks, marking up an already welted lead wheel for the Swede. As Lansberg recklessly pushes forward to initiate some sort of offense, Silva uses her foe’s momentum against her and trips her to the ground. The Brazilian hits the mat in half guard from above, and she uses her shoulder to press down on Lansberg’s chin. Silva slowly works her way to attempt a guard pass, preferring position over submission or damage. Lansberg protects her mug from any ground strikes, but she is being wholly controlled on bottom. Silva shifts to three-quarter mount and happily takes the back when Lansberg scrambles, sliding both hooks in instinctively. Lansberg hand-fights to protect her neck from a submission, and Silva drops down a pair of elbows to the side of the head. Silva softens Lansberg up with strikes, and she pulls back to resume the back control with her hooks in. The Brazilian cinches up a body triangle, and Lansberg keeps a tight grip on Silva’s left arm beneath her armpit. Silva elbows her foe repeatedly until she forces a scramble, and Lansberg scrambles to get out of an armbar setup that develops in a hurry. Lansberg keeps moving and stands up, but instead of forcing Silva to stand back up, she decides to dive back in the fire and claim top position.
“Sheetara” welcomes this, as she finds that Lansberg landed on the mat in such a position that she can grab hold of the foot and torque it to straight the leg out. Silva locks up a kneebar, and before it hyperextends and the tendons shred like a chuck roast in a crock pot, Lansberg taps out on her opponent’s hip.
In the blink of an eye, Silva now finds herself on a three-fight win streak with two submissions in that run, and she calls for a top contender like Raquel Pennington, Miesha Tate or Julianna Pena next to get a crack at gold.

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Feb 14, 2023 (4 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

Angelo is confident in Bueno Silva but acknowledges the matchup is tricky. He notes Bueno Silva has zero takedowns in the UFC despite four submission wins, relying on pulling guard or submissions from bottom. Länsberg is a world champion Muay Thai striker who can't defend takedowns, but Bueno Silva may struggle to get the fight to the ground. Angelo still expects Bueno Silva to win, likely by submission, but admits Länsberg could win if she keeps it standing.

"Meyer Buena Silva is going to win this fight she's my pick I'm very I'm pretty confident in that."

Big Brady Expert Confident picked Feb 13, 2023 (5 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

Big Brady notes that Bueno Silva has incredible grappling but never initiates takedowns (0-for-1 in UFC). He thinks the fight will stay on the feet, where Länsberg has power and has been competitive as a dog. He still picks Bueno Silva to win by decision, but warns against the -425 line.

Cody Saftic Expert Hesitant picked Feb 15, 2023 (3 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

Cody picks Bueno Silva but is not confident at -500. He notes she is very slow and plotted, with zero percent takedown accuracy in the UFC. Her best attribute is the armbar, but she has no wrestling to set it up. He says if she can't take Länsberg down, it becomes a striking battle where Länsberg is effective in the clinch. However, Länsberg is 40 and doesn't have the cardio to keep pace. He thinks the fight likely goes to decision and warns that holding a -500 ticket in women's MMA is risky due to judging.

Cody mentions the over/under: fight goes to decision is minus 125. He says Bueno Silva's first-round submission win over Edgar is cooked into the line. He thinks the fight will be closer than -500 indicates.
"I think Mary Buena Silva wins but at minus 500 I don't feel great about it and there's certain issues that I do have pertaining to this matchup."

Connor Ruebusch Expert Confident picked Feb 16, 2023 (2 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

Connor agrees with Zane, calling it a physicality pick. He notes that Länsberg has been outmuscled by less athletic fighters like Pannie Kianzad, and that she lacks a functional game against stronger opponents. He also points out that Länsberg is trying to change her style at age 40, which is unlikely to succeed. Connor feels bad for Länsberg but sees Silva as the clear winner.

"Yeah, I'm with you. And I really don't have a lot to add. It's mostly a physicality pick."

Jacob Lines Expert Confident picked Feb 14, 2023 (4 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

Jacob agrees with Bueno Silva but thinks the fight could be closer than expected. He notes Länsberg wants to clinch and hold against the cage, and Bueno Silva is also a Muay Thai striker who doesn't mind clinch positions. Jacob emphasizes Bueno Silva needs to use trips and judo to get the fight to the ground, where her Jiu-Jitsu dominates. He believes if she can do that, she finishes the fight.

"I love my buenosova... she needs to win those clinch exchanges happen she needs to have trips and Judo ready."

MMA Lock of the Night Expert Confident picked Feb 14, 2023 (4 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

Bueno Silva has youth, speed, and power advantages, and her striking should overwhelm the aging Länsberg. Länsberg is on the decline and has been outworked in recent fights. Expect Bueno Silva to land a big shot and finish via submission (club and sub) in the second round.

Mayra Bueno Silva

Paul picks Bueno Silva but says minus 500 doesn't get him out of bed. He thinks the most interesting part is the over/under, noting Länsberg is durable and the fight likely goes to decision. He says the first-round finish against Edgar is cooked into the line. He plans to bet the fight goes to decision at minus 125. He calls Bueno Silva the pick but won't lay the heavy chalk.

Paul bets half a unit on fight goes to decision at -125. He says Länsberg is durable and slow-plodding, and Bueno Silva's takedown accuracy is zero percent.
"I'll be picking maribueno Silva Landsberg is kind of like a Sitting Duck... I think there is an opportunity to make some money on fico's the decision."

The MMA Guru Expert Confident picked Feb 14, 2023 (4 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

The MMA Guru confidently picks Mayra Bueno Silva, calling Lina Länsberg a middle-aged mom who hasn't finished anyone in years. He praises Silva's forward pressure, good chin, and recent performance against Manon Fiorot. He predicts Silva will beat Länsberg on the feet, leading to a panic takedown attempt from Länsberg, and Silva will latch on a submission from the bottom, likely an armbar or triangle in the first two rounds.

submission in the first two rounds, armbar from on bottom
"I'm gonna trust in her this time definitely maraboyno Silva is going to push forward beat up Lena Landsberg on the feet"

Zane Simon Expert Confident picked Feb 16, 2023 (2 days before fight)
Mayra Bueno Silva

Zane notes that Länsberg is 40 years old on a three-fight losing streak and has tried to change her style but hasn't succeeded. He describes Silva as a hard-hitting opportunist who knows how to implement her game, even if her technique is rough. He believes Länsberg lacks the physicality and technical skill to stop Silva from imposing her will, and that Silva's aggression and submission threats will be too much. Zane also mentions that Länsberg's attempts to become an out-fighter have not worked, and she is likely to be bullied.

"So I got to take part of this over here."

Lina Lansberg vs. Karol Rosa
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Rosa (-295), Lansberg (+245)

Round 1
The big show is upon us, and if you live in North America, you’re getting up early for this one and for good reason. A cool dozen fights – with most matches featuring ranked competitors – will grace this blockbuster event, one that begins in the women’s 135-pound weight class. Rising contender and Jessica Andrade training partner Rosa (15-4, 4-1 UFC) will look to get back on track after a humbling defeat to Sara McMann in March, while 40-year-old Swede Lansberg (10-6, 4-5 UFC) intends on demonstrating she is not done yet as she hunts for her first win since 2019. The first match of the day draws officiating from referee Lukasz Bosacki, and it begins without a glove touch. As a note, the UFC commentary team of Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier and Paul Felder is completely silent, possibly from technical difficulties. The two ladies jab at one another, and Rosa tosses out a body kick. Rosa fires off another kick, and Lansberg counters her with a right hand over the top that drops Rosa to her seat. The crowd erupts, and Lansberg sprints forwards but cannot reach her opponent before Rosa springs to her feet. Still a little tingly, Rosa runs straight into Lansberg, where she pushes her straight into the fence and clings on tight. Lansberg gladly accepts this position, turns her foe around and knees her in the belly a few times. Lansberg stays busy in the clinch, working the thighs and midsection with knees, and Bosacki calls for action. The two ladies both consider takedowns at the same time, and Rosa is the stronger woman and shoves Lansberg down to the mat. The Brazilian lands in half guard, and she postures up but Lansberg is clinging to her wrists to prevent any offense. Meanwhile, Lansberg is attempting to slash with elbows off her back, and this allows Rosa to get her own strikes going from above. Rosa settles for control time as she rides and drops down a few punches, but the strikes are sporadic at best. Rosa shifts momentarily to three-quarter mount, but opts to stand up right before the bell sounds.

Round 2
The commentary resumes at the beginning of the second round, but fight fans might pine for an option for no commentary for broadcasts going forward – not because Jon Anik is not an exceptional fight caller, but because it provides a different and interesting option to watch fights. At the start of Round 2, Rosa blitzes forward and hits a takedown within seconds. Rosa comfortably sits on top, with Lansberg unable to reverse, sweep or find a better angle. Rosa places her foe flat on her back, and she grinds her elbow on the face of “Elbow Queen” as if to attempt a very low level of regicide. Rosa then elbows the side as the time ticks off the clock, and Lansberg suddenly explodes to kick Rosa off of her. Rosa lords over her with slapping kicks to the leg, and Lansberg remains on her back instead of climbing back up. The crowd is not thrilled with this exchange. Rosa allows Lansberg to sit up, and as the Swede is leaning against the cage with her left knee down, Rosa blasts her in the face with an illegal knee. Bosacki recognizes this immediately, and he allows Lansberg to recover from the foul and calls in the doctor. Lansberg is all smiles and asks for Bosacki to take a point, and he agrees and deducts one point from Rosa. The fighters get back to it after about two minutes of recovery time, and Lansberg comes out swinging. Rosa capitalizes on this aggression by bowling her over with a takedown. The Brazilian smothers from on top in half guard again, with few strikes of merit and plenty of time hanging on in this position. Lansberg considers snatching up a heel from her back, and this forces Rosa to stand back up. Rosa leaps down in a diving leg lock attempt, and the round ends before anything can come from it.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 9-9
Ben Duffy scores the round: 9-9

Round 3
The bantamweights meet in the middle, and both want to throw hands. Rosa clips her opponent with a right hand, and as Lansberg throws a body kick, the Swede gets tagged with a left hook. Lansberg strides forward and delivers a knee to the chest, and Rosa is feeling it as Lansberg pushes her to the wall. Rosa attempts to respond with knees while stuck on the fence, and she spins her opponent around and elbows her on the chin. The two jockey for position in this tight posture, and they get off knees at the same moment. This stalemate continues as Rosa gets the upper hand with short but effective strikes, and she gets shoved back. The Brazilian leaps in the air with a knee, and she bullies Lansberg back to the wire again. Lansberg deftly turns her around and gets off an elbow, forcing Rosa to change levels and go for a failed takedown. As she senses Lansberg slowing, Rosa swarms with a barrage of elbows and punches, as if to send a message to “Elbow Queen.” Rosa swings so hard she nearly topples over, as Lansberg has some swelling growing fast under her left eye. Lansberg catches her and ties her up to slow down the onslaught, but this allows Rosa to hit a throw and drop her to her knees. Lansberg climbs back up, and Rosa spins with an elbow that collides with the temple. Rosa rips one more knee to the body before the horn blares, and this could a close one depending on how judges score the first round.

Karol Rosa is a solid prospect with great output, often landing over 100 significant strikes. She has good body work in the clinch and can also take a grapple-heavy approach to nullify Länsberg's elbows.
