Charles Jourdain vs. Kyler Phillips
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-140); Phillips (+110)

Round 1
Once a fighter deemed on the rise at bantamweight, Phillips (12-4, 6-3 UFC) has fallen on hard times to reach his first career losing streak. Inactivity and inconsistent results have plagued “The Matrix” since his debut with the company in 2020, so he will try to take the wind out of the sails of high-flying Canadian Jourdain (17-8-1, 8-7-1 UFC). In this co-main event, referee Jerin Valel is on standby. The athletes gladly touch gloves before handling their business.
Phillips rushes forward to put his jab in the face of the Canadian and force him to fight off his back foot. Jourdain welcomes this so he can measure a flying knee, and he misses it by a small margin. Phillips shoots in on his hips to take the fight down, and Jourdain hops around on one leg and drops to his back. “Air” Jourdain sets up a triangle choke when put down, and Phillips springs out of it and positions himself in side control. Phillips jumps over into full mount, so Jourdain times twisting to his side to thwart it partially. Phillips get stuck in a partial half guard position, and Jourdain explodes back to his feet and puts his back to the wall to try to scrape Phillips off of him. Phillips completes a mat return, and Jourdain sits down to set up a kimura in hopes of sweeping. Phillips is wise to it all and smothers as he regains half guard, fighting off the bucks and shifts of the active Canadian.
Jourdain tries to fight back while on his back, slashing with elbows until he flirts with a guillotine choke while on his seat. Phillips leaps all the way over through it to get himself in a better position, preferring to stay on top rather than go for anything in particular. When Jourdain sits up, Phillips slings him down, and Phillips has to mind his P’s and Q’s as an upkick zooms right at his face. Jourdain hunts for a triangle choke, and Phillips is about to slam him out of it but lets go before the impact. Phillips controls with his wrestling, reassuming himself on top for mere seconds as Jourdain once more bucks and escapes. Jourdain leans against the wall to keep his balance, and he hunts for a guillotine choke. Phillips immediately abandons the grappling, and Jourdain points at him. Jourdain slings two huge punches, catching the American cleanly. Phillips attacks back with a vengeance, but it is Jourdain who swings more violently as the round ends.

Round 2
Jourdain goes right after his opponent as the round begins, backing off only when Phillips initiates a few jabs. Jourdain gets right back to crowding him after those sequences, and he boots Phillips in the gut. Phillips times the kick perfectly, sweeping the other leg to dump the Canadian on his back like a back of groceries. Jourdain scrambles and slithers his legs between Phillips to trip him up, where he briefly turns Phillips over. Phillips regains position, ignoring a possible guillotine from Jourdain to body lock him down to the floor. Jourdain on his seat thinks about another guillotine, but he does not have the leverage for it. Instead, Jourdain climbs back up even as Phillips holds his other limb, and he jacks Phillips in the jaw three times with vicious uppercuts. When Phillips adjusts his grip, Jourdain tries to actually get hold of that guillotine he is seeking, but Phillips is able to move well enough to force him back and reset. The two crash together like waves in the night, both slamming into one another with power strikes.
Jourdain misses on another jump knee, but his front kick to the stomach takes the wind out of Phillips’ sails a bit. Jourdain practically sprints at his man and belts him with a left, right and a left. Phillips kicks him in the side, but it has far less venom than before and Jourdain knows it. Phillips gloms onto the Canadian, who is looking for a standing kimura to readjust their position. They break free, and Jourdain is the aggressor, chasing “The Matrix” around and just missing with a spinning back elbow. Phillips hurls Jourdain to the mat, and Jourdain turns the tables, puts himself on his knees and threatens with a choke. There is no choke to be had, so they fight their way back up and proceed to recklessly duke it out. Phillips busts Jourdain in the chops with an uppercut and stays away from the crazy, flying moves aimed at him for the most part. Jourdain ends the round with an inaccurate rolling thunder kick.

Round 3
It is all offense, all the time as the two bruisers proceed to harm, damage, bludgeon and bash one another with anything they can find. Jourdain’s arsenal is a broad one, while Phillips wants to ultimately turn his attacks into ground control. As they go back and forth, Phillips finds an opening and trips Jourdain down. Jourdain stands even while Phillips is controlling him from behind, hands clasped around his waist, and he still turns Phillips around. Jourdain thanks him for the bit of grappling with an elbow on the temple and a high knee, and he keeps after Phillips with long punches. Phillips fires off an uppercut and a left hand to stun him for a second, but Jourdain does not need long to take a quick count of his teeth and leap at Phillips again with a flying knee.
When Jourdain goes to the well again with yet another flying knee, Phillips catches him in midair and slings him to the canvas. Jourdain wraps up Phillips left hand with a two-on-one wrist grip in hopes of sweeping Phillips off of him, but Phillips shuts it down with sheer force of will. Knowing Jourdain is about to stand, Phillips circles around to take his back standing. Jourdain keeps moving while pressed against the cage, spinning them about once before Phillips reasserts the controlling clinch posture. Jourdain trips Phillips to the floor, allows him to stand back up and belts him in the belly with his shin. Jourdain follows with a knee that busts Phillips’ left eyebrow wide open. Blood pours from the veritable axe wound on his face, and Phillips paws at it, knowing he suffered some real damage. He does not slow down, instead meeting Jourdain in the air with a right hand as Jourdain inevitably jumps. Phillips tries to throw Jourdain down one last time, but it is Jourdain who muscles him around and gives him everything he has to offer. The banger concludes with one last rolling thunder kick from Jourdain, this one banging into the back of his foe’s neck at the bell. The two bantamweights leave it all in the hands of the judges, likely about to become at least $100K richer for their back-and-forth rumble.

Charles Jourdain

Angelo leans Charles Jourdain but is hesitant, noting Kyler Phillips is not a bum and has faced tough competition. He worries about Kyler's inconsistent cardio and Charles's lack of meaningful wins. He thinks Charles's experience and toughness give him a slight edge, but advises staying away from betting.

"I'm going to lean him here, very slight lean toward Charles. I am worried that he can be out-wrestled."

Charles Jourdain

DI
Diary of a Pro Gambler Expert Lean picked Apr 18, 2026 (fight day)
Charles Jourdain

Jourdain has a big advantage on the feet with high volume and power, and he is the aggressor. Phillips has poor cardio and is a point fighter. However, Jourdain's takedown defense is weak and he is easy to hold down. Phillips could grapple his way to a decision. Home advantage for Jourdain is a factor. Lean Jourdain but not confident enough to bet at these odds.

"Jourdain is a very tempting bet for a lot of reasons, but there's just one thing that gives me like that nagging doubt."

The host thinks Charles Jourdain is the side here, noting that Phillips has cardio issues and struggles under pressure. He expects Jourdain to apply pressure, work Phillips down, and find a finish in round two or three. He highlights Jourdain's dangerous guillotine and improved BJJ, and believes Phillips will either slow down or get caught in a submission if he grapples.

submission round three at +2500
"I think after a competitive first round, we see Jordain really start to pull away. He's got to know that Phillips does not like pressure, and I think you will see him start to apply that pressure, really work Phillips down, and I think that leads to a round two or round three finish for Jordain."

Davey Grant vs. Charles Jourdain
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-170); Grant (+140)

Round 1
Hold onto your hats, because Jourdain (16-8-1, 7-7-1 UFC) and Grant (17-7, 8-6 UFC) are about to trade leather. The bantamweights that tend to put on a show will be officiated by referee Jason Herzog. They opt to bump fists before jacking one another on the jaw.
Grant strides forward, and he catches an oncoming body kick. He releases it and lets fly a clubbing calf kick. Jourdain bounces off the fence and is just out of range from another kick to the midsection. Jourdain tags his man with a one-two, and Grant opens up with his own overhand right. Jourdain times a jump knee as Grant bears down on him, and he misses by a matter of inches. Grant hammers home another low kick, and he blocks a big knee. Jourdain lines up a straight left hand down the middle, and he whiffs on a looping left of his own. Jourdain absorbs a pair of punches and has to bounce on his heels to gets his bearings, and then leaps into action with a head kick and a powerful right hand. Grant grins at him and asks for more, so Jourdain obliges him. Grant throws back hard. Jourdain catches Grant with his jump knee, and Grant is tough but his forehead is split ever so slightly.
Grant calms himself and looses a heavy leg kick, and he gets blasted with another head kick. Jourdain finds the target with his flying knee, and Grant’s nose explodes in a bloody mess and topples to his back in a bad way.
Jourdain leaps on top and hammers the Brit with ground-and-pound, and Grant somehow survives even though his face is quickly transforming into a crimson mask. Grant turns over, and the Canadian sees his opening and snatches up his preferred move of a power guillotine choke. The moment that Jourdain, who has the grip clutched tight as can be, rolls Grant over, Grant taps out as fast as he can.
Even with Herzog getting between them in a timely manner, Grant appears to at least partially go out, as when he stands back up looking like a victim in an 80's slasher film, he finds that he is not quite capable of doing so on his own. The crowd goes ballistic.

Connor Ruebusch Expert Lean picked Oct 17, 2025 (1 day before fight)
Davey Grant

Connor leans toward Davey Grant, citing Grant's consistent toughness, awkwardness, and ability to capitalize on retreating opponents. He notes that Jourdain can drift and have wrong ideas, and that Grant's pressure and durability could cause Jourdain trouble, especially given Jourdain's poor defensive wrestling and tendency to improvise. Connor also mentions the age gap (Grant is 39) but still favors Grant's reliability.

Grant opened at +170, dropped to -110, now +145; Jourdain opened -200, now -170. Connor notes the odds movement and suggests the line is influenced by age.

Victor Henry vs. Charles Jourdain
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-125), Henry (+105)

Round 1
Meeting in the middle after plenty of time in different divisions, ex-featherweight Jourdain (15-8-1, 6-7-1 UFC) shifts gears down to 135 pounds in hopes of keeping that explosiveness. He greets former flyweight Henry (24-6, 1 NC, 3-1, 1 NC UFC) at bantamweight, with the two drawing oversight from referee Black Grice. Speed will be the name of the game in this one, and they intend on showing it off just as soon as they complete their expected glove touch. Jourdain slowly plods forward, hand-fighting Henry’s probing jabs. Henry lands a pair of low kicks as Grice issues a warning for outstretched fingers. Jourdain whips a kick up high that is barely blocked, and Henry gets busy with low and body kicks. Henry secures a body kick that splits the guard, and he absorbs a clean low kick that makes him recoil his limb. Jourdain leaps in the air with a knee, and Henry swats it away. The two trade low kicks, and Jourdain prods out a front kick that knocks Henry back a step. A Jourdain jab is met with a leg kick, and Henry walks his foe down and connects with a left hook. Jourdain looses another quick head kick, and he races forward and puts as right hand on the jaw of “La Mangosta.” Henry keeps striding forward, but Jourdain is pecking at him with low kicks and longer punches. Henry attacks the body and lead leg with kicks, and Jourdain comes out firing with a pair of looping hooks. Henry gets off a body kick, and Jourdain trips Henry up and dumps him to the floor. The well-schooled Henry does not show any concern when Jourdain grips hold of a guillotine choke, and he escapes and resets. Henry walks him down and trips him out, putting Jourdain on his back thanks to sheer pressure. Jourdain posts off an arm to sit up, and Henry slickly shuts him down. Jourdain still explodes to his feet despite Henry’s wishes, and he trips Henry to a knee but does not complete it. Jourdain stands, wraps up a guillotine, and releases it to nails Henry with a flush elbow on the forehead. Henry blinks it out and loads up on a pair of right hands, and he gets countered and clips. Jourdain’s power shakes Henry up briefly, but Henry keeps marching onward throwing punches. Jourdain uses a sharp front kick and a head kick to slow Henry, and he tries to time a jump knee but Henry is wise to it and waits to press forward into a clinch. As Jourdain looks to frame off of Henry’s face, Henry trips his legs out. Henry no-sells a guillotine choke until the bell sounds.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Jourdain
Ben Duffy scores the round: 10-9 Jourdain
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Jourdain

Round 2
The two touch gloves before getting going, and Henry is quick to assert heavy pressure. Jourdain is lighter on his feet, swinging harder and landing cleaner. Jourdain clips Henry, forcing Henry to close in on him and trying to clinch. Jourdain shucks him off and rips an uppercut up the middle, and he chews up Henry’s lead leg and strafes to the side. Henry gives chase, pushing out a front kick and a body kick, and he gets caught with an uppercut moving forward. Henry keeps his guard high, allowing Jourdain’s offense to throw him off-balance. Henry wrangles Jourdain to the floor, and he wraps up his opponent with a body lock while fishing for a rear-naked choke. Henry rolls when Jourdain scrambles, and he hunts for a choke any time he can spot an opening. Jourdain defends well and keeps turning, eventually settling to lean his side against the cage. Henry is warned for an elbow to the spine, and he lets Jourdain turn over so he can slip an arm on the side of the chin. Henry moves into top position, but he is dragged back to the guard of “La Mangosta.” Jourdain snatches up a guillotine choke on his back, and Henry pays it no mind as it is not locked up. The Canadian hacks with elbows off his back, and he sits up and nearly works his way up. Henry stifles a guillotine choke without issue by remaining calm, and Jourdain uses the grip to work to his feet.
The choke is still wrapped around Henry’s neck, and Jourdain jumps guard to set up and lock down the guillotine. This time, it is exceptionally tight, and Henry does not have a way out. With no more options, Henry frantically taps out, surrendering for the first time in his lengthy career.
Jourdain sends a message to his new division with his stoppage win, while also showing off his new, impressive back tattoo.

Charles Jourdain vs. Jean Silva (147.5: Missed Weight)
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-120), Silva (+100)

Round 1
An all-action battle originally scheduled at 145 pounds takes center stage next, as ultra-aggressive Canadian striker Jourdain (15-7-1, 6-6-1 UFC) runs into the 92% finish rate of “Lord” Silva (12-2, 1-0 UFC). The latter came in heavy by 2.5 pounds, and he has surrendered 20% of his purse to Jourdain. With three decision wins across their 27 victories, referee Marc Goddard better bring his A-game to this catchweight match. Silva offers an apologetic glove touch to get things started, and Jourdain accepts. Jourdain says hello with a loud body kick, and Silva responds with a Mortal Kombat-esque extremely low leg sweep. Silva bounces out of the way from a left hand, and he leans back as a head kick buzzes past him. Two more head kicks from the Canadian miss, and Silva offers him a high-five after an exchange. Jourdain connects with a heavy low kick, and a front kick lands as well. Silva again whiffs on the head kick, and Silva once more high-fives him. Jourdain pounds on the front leg, and Silva is walking forward but not throwing anything of note. Jourdain jumps forward with a high body kick, and Silva pounces with two punches but lets up. “Air” lands another big kick, and Silva eats a left hand and tells his opponent to keep throwing. Jourdain changes things up with a sudden double-leg takedown, and he shucks off a guillotine choke but cannot keep his foe down. Jourdain gets to his feet first, and he fires off a head kick that misses the mark by a matter of inches. Silva leaps forward with a hacking elbow, and Jourdain bounces off the fence to find another angle. Silva misses with a jumping front kick, and his looping left hook is just slightly inaccurate. As Jourdain crashes the pocket, Silva blasts him in the face with a left hand. Jourdain hits the ground like a sack of potatoes, and Silva drops to his knees to land strikes before standing up and motioning for Jourdain to follow him up and trade hands. Silva moves awkwardly to mess with Jourdain, who is still struggling on his feet, and he connects with a number of heavy strikes including a huge left. Jourdain tries for another takedown, and Silva blocks it and elbows him several times in the side of the head until Jourdain abandons it. Silva pursues his man recklessly, unafraid of the Canadian’s power so he can throw bombs. Jourdain catches a kick and puts Silva on his back, but he cannot do anything with it before the wild round ends.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Silva
Ben Duffy scores the round: 10-9 Silva
Devin Tejada scores the round: 10-9 Silva

Round 2
Silva claps hands and hugs Jourdain to start off the round, and he wants to say something but Jourdain is more interested in fighting. Silva gets off first, landing power strikes and otherwise making Jourdain react from mere feints. Jourdain shoots in for a single, and he drags Silva to a knee but Silva bounces back up to his feet with his back to the wall. Silva hacks at his man with an elbow in the side, and he allows Jourdain to abandon the takedown and lift his head up.
At the perfect moment, “Lord” unloads an uppercut that completely knocks Jourdain off his feet, and it is a done deal. Goddard steps in to wave off the one-sided beatdown, with Jourdain clutching the back of his head after it rattled off the floor.
Silva, who will unfortunately sacrifice a post-fight bonus for missing weight, is the first fighter to knock out the durable Canadian. When Jourdain comes to his senses, the two fighters embrace, and Silva proudly dons his team’s black-rimmed glasses of the Fighting Nerds. He even draws a smile from the stoic Goddard.

Charles Jourdain vs. Sean Woodson
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-190), Woodson (+145)

Round 1
It’s a likely firefight at featherweight as Jourdain and Woodson take to the cage, with Jerin Valel there to make sure things stay nice and clean. Jourdain immediately goes for a head kick, perhaps to give the tallest man in the division something to think about. Woodson switches stances constantly in the opening moments, sticking out a fast, long jab from both sides. A minute and a half in, neither man has committed to much in the way of full-speed power shots. Woodson catches Jourdain cleanly with a straight from each side. Jourdain comes in with a low stance, shoulder-rolling, but can’t get off any punches before he is forced to retreat. Jourdain lands a hard leg kick, then a solid punch upstairs. Woodson goes southpaw and snaps Jourdain’s head back with a right straight. Jourdain moves in and tries to corner Woodson against the fence, but Woodson puts his hands on his foe and pushes him aside as he slides out of the pocket. Jourdain steps in and runs right into an intercepting knee from Woodson. Jourdain lands a slapping spin kick at the horn.

Sherdog Scores
Ben Duffy scores the round: 10-9 Woodson
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Woodson
Scottie Smith scores the round: 10-9 Woodson

Round 2
Jourdain wades forward behind a trio of punches but Woodson steps back, evades and lands a clean counter on the end of it. Jourdain comes in with another combo that clatters off the guard of the taller man. Woodson lands an outside leg kick. Jourdain responds with one of his own a second later. Two minutes in, Woodson is beginning to flow, waving his hands and switching stances before launching long single punches. Jourdain drops for a single-leg and gets it, but can’t finish the takedown even after running Woodson to the fence. They end up in a stalemate, with Jourdain trying to hoist the leg as Woodson counters with an overhook. They disengage and Jourdain lands a glancing spinning strike on the break. Jourdain is back to stalking, but continues to have trouble getting inside against the lanky boxer. Jourdain drops for another takedown attempt, getting onto Woodson’s hips and driving him into the fence. Woodson defends calmly, and Jourdain gives it up, launching another spin kick in an attempt to surprise Woodson on the break. Jourdain lands a head kick right before the horn.

Sherdog Scores
Ben Duffy scores the round: 10-9 Woodson
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Woodson
Scottie Smith scores the round: 10-9 Woodson

Round 3
Woodson stands his ground as Jourdain advances, tagging him with a couple of glancing short punches, before circling out. Jourdain, looking perhaps to change things up, rushes forward with a flurry of hooks, then throws a spinning back elbow that comes up short. They collide and clinch, and it’s Woodson who ends up on Jourdain’s back standing against the fence. Jourdain hits him with a hard shot on the break, then immediately pursues and charges forward. He’s landing more, his relentless forward pressure clearly making Woodson uncomfortable. At the midpoint of the round, Woodson is back on the outside, and he counters a kick with a long uppercut to the body. Jourdain throws a spinning back kick, then another, but he’s out of range both times. He throws a third, with similar lack of success. Woodson hits his man with a body punch. Jourdain grabs a snatch single-leg, but cannot finish, and the takedown shutout by Woodson continues. With 45 seconds to go, Jourdain is throwing haymakers and spinning attacks, looking for a moment of fight-changing offense. Woodson goes for a reactive takedown and Jourdain grabs a guillotine, falling to his back and closing his guard as he does so. The choke is tight but time is short, but Woodson pops his head out at the 10-second clapper and is throwing punches from top position at the horn.

Sean Woodson

I'm picking Woodson to win this fight on the scorecards. He is the better technical striker with a significant height and reach advantage. If he can stick with his jab and stay on the outside, he can outvolume Jourdain from distance. Jourdain's unorthodox striking could allow him to crash the pocket, but Woodson's chin might be suspect. However, I think Woodson does a good enough job rolling with shots and sticking to his game plan. I don't think Jourdain can successfully take a grapple-heavy approach either.

Charles Jourdain vs. Ricardo Ramos
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-135), Ramos (+114)

Round 1
Kicking off the main card is a potential banger at 145 pounds, as the wild and crazy Ramos (16-4, 7-3 UFC) throws down with a man in Jourdain (14-6-1, 5-5-1 UFC) that properly represents his nickname of “Air” any time he can. Referee Herb Dean will join the two high-flying, frequently spinning, hard-swinging and extremely exciting combatants in the cage, hoping to not be struck by errant blows. Before the violence ensues, the featherweights tap their gloves together. Jourdain snaps into action with a body kick, and he swats away a front kick. Jourdain aims another kick to the midsection, where he leans back from three head kicks – the third grazes off his guard. Ramos tosses out a low kick, and he gets sniped with a right hand over the top. Jourdain slaps a head kick up high, and he grabs hold of a guillotine when Ramos charges towards him for a possible takedown. Ramos jumps over the legs and is in Von Preux position with Jourdain still holding on with the guillotine, and he presses his shoulder down on Jourdain’s throat. Ramos pushes his weight down to keep Jourdain in submission danger, but he lets it go to re-posture himself. Jourdain keeps his left arm around the neck until Ramos wriggles his head out of it, and Ramos looks to sneak into side control while sitting comfortable in half guard. Jourdain turns to his side, and Ramos times this so he can pass.
Both men somersault in a wild scramble, and Jourdain recovers first to latch on with a guillotine choke and pulls guard. This time, the submission is extremely tight, and the Brazilian finds himself firmly entrenched in the danger zone. Ramos has no way out, and before going out on his shield, he taps out.
This is a huge win for the no-longer-.500 Jourdain, as he becomes the first fighter to submit Ramos since 2016.

He notes Jourdain improves as fights go on, with high volume in later rounds, while Ramos tends to fade or get finished early. He respects Ramos's talent but questions his work ethic and mental fortitude. He thinks Jourdain's durability and pressure will be too much, and he can win by knockout or decision.

"I'm gonna go with Charles Jordan like I know what I'm getting out of Charles Jordan whereas I don't know I don't know if I'm gonna get the Phenom Ricardo Ramos"

Charles Jourdain

Lucrative James leans Jourdain due to durability edge and pressure. He notes Ramos needs a perfect game with takedowns, while Jourdain can have big moments on the feet. He thinks Jourdain may drop Ramos if the fight stays standing. However, he hasn't fully taped the fight and wants to review Ramos's top control.

"I think Charles Jourdain is going to pile on the pressure a little bit more and probably get knockdowns."

Ricardo Ramos

The host picks Ramos (Hakaru Hokamura) as a plus 120 underdog, expecting him to use a grapple-heavy approach to neutralize Jourdain's striking. He notes Jourdain's takedown defense issues and that Ramos has improved his wrestling at Team Alpha Male. He believes Ramos will mix in takedowns behind his striking, control Jourdain on the mat, and win a decision.

"give me Hikaru how much to win his second straight fight and I think he gets it done by decision"

Ricardo Ramos

Paul picks Ramos pending weigh-ins, citing his takedown-heavy game plan from the Bill Algeo fight. He thinks Ramos can control Jourdain on the ground, but is concerned about Ramos's weight cut. He would swap if Ramos looks sick at weigh-ins.

"pending he makes weight I'll pick Ricardo Ramos... I'm kind of on the fence about it."

Charles Jourdain

The MMA Guru picks Charles Jourdain, acknowledging he is 'too fun to be good' but believes he has the skills to win. He notes Jourdain's recent win over Kron Gracie and his training camp for this fight. He criticizes Ricardo Ramos for fading in fights and being wild, while Jourdain is durable and technical. He predicts Jourdain will catch Ramos in round two with crisper striking, as Ramos swings wildly and Jourdain counters.

round two TKO
"I'm going with Charles Jordan over Ricardo Ramos now I don't really think all that of Charles Jordan I think he's a little bit too fun to be good..."

Kron Gracie vs. Charles Jourdain
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-180), Gracie (+155)

Round 1
Styles make fights, and that could scarcely be said more appropriately the UFC 288 main card opener. Submission master Gracie (5-1, 1-1 UFC), competing for the first time since October 2019, will be hoping to shake off any rust in short order. He will collide with high-flying striker Jourdain (13-6-1, 4-5-1 UFC), who aims to lift his UFC record to an even .500. The Octagon ranger for this featherweight matchup will be referee Gary Copeland, and the fighters do not touch gloves ahead of the bout. They meet in the middle of the cage but do not throw much of note, pawing out with occasional jabs and hand-fighting. Jourdain splits the guard with a few such jabs, and he chains a few sharp punches and powerful uppercuts together to get Gracie’s respect early. Gracie walks forward, and reaches out with a right hand simply to distract Jourdain enough to close the distance. Jourdain fights off a takedown attempt frantically, and when Gracie re-engages, the Canadian chucks his man down to the canvas. Jourdain intercepts the rushing Gracie with an uppercut, and he stays on his back foot as Gracie is committed to stalking him down and looking for some kind of level change. Jourdain stops this in its track momentarily with a fierce combination, and he slides away from the plodding Gracie. Jourdain cracks Gracie again and pushes him off when Gracie tries to tie him up, and his uppercut continues to split the guard. As Jourdain is moving and sticking, Gracie snatches him up just enough to pull guard. The Brazilian gladly lands on his back, and he slowly moves his guard up high to threaten with a potential triangle choke or armbar setup. Jourdain is wise to it, and he slowly slides his upper body out of danger and softens Gracie up with body shots. Jourdain leaps back to his feet and hops away before Gracie can trip him up, and Gracie scoots on his posterior until the crowd boos him. Gracie stands back up, and he meanders forward to close in and tie Jourdain up. The two trade short body shots until Jourdain breaks out, and he scores a few uppercuts when backpedaling. Gracie throws two naked leg kicks, and Jourdain tags him with a few punches that damage his nose before the bell.

Round 2
Jourdain opens the round up with a few quick punches, landing fast enough to quell Gracie’s never-ending forward movement. Gracie wanders forward into the fray, throwing little in the way of offense as he is singularly obsessed with just getting his hands or legs on his foe. As they clinch, Gracie pulls guard, and he succeeds in managing to bring Jourdain with him. The Canadian positions Gracie in a bad place with his neck up against the wire, and Gracie is quick to roll for an armbar as Jourdain opens up with ground-and-pound. “Air” resets on top and starts absorbing elbows to the top of his dome, but he is not in submission danger. Gracie puts a high guard up again and looks to isolate Jourdain’s left arm, and Jourdain maintains heavy chest pressure to not let Gracie get enough space to secure anything. Jourdain ignores offense coming from his adversary, as it is short and not particular effective, and more of a setup for Gracie to try a submission. Jourdain explodes out of the guard and gets back to his feet, and he backs off and knees Gracie in the body when Gracie bears down on him. Jourdain strings several punches together that get around the guard, and he whiffs on an uppercut that lets Gracie close in. Jourdain swings out with an elbow, and he gets tagged with an unexpected left hand before getting mashed up against the wall. Gracie pulls guard once more to force the fight horizontal, and Jourdain shucks off arm control to drop down a solid elbow. The round ends with Jourdain in no particular danger.

Round 3
The last round kicks off, and Gracie slowly lumbers from out of his corner. Jourdain dances his way in and out, ripping body shots and keeping out of reach. Jourdain lands an uppercut and takes one punch on the chin, with Gracie throwing a modicum more of offense but not enough to make a difference. Jourdain tags Gracie with a right hand, and Gracie attempts to pull guard. Jourdain drives him to the fence and slides him off, and Gracie crashes forward and bangs his head into his opponent’s. Jourdain releases clean combinations, rarely throwing single blows and landing en masse. Gracie takes them on the chin, generally, and succeeds to pull guard again. The crowd lets Gracie have it for this tactic, and he does not adjust his approach and hopes to secure a submission. Jourdain pounds on the ribcage with short punches and elbows, not concerned with the grappling chops of his opponent, and he stacks Gracie up briefly. Gracie hangs on from beneath, until Jourdain sees and opening and darts back upright. Gracie follows him while on his seat, aiming kicks to the knees, and Jourdain answers with slapping kicks. Copeland forces Gracie to stand up, and Gracie carries out his perpetual forward motion that is unable to lock Jourdain down and do anything. Jourdain breaks away thanks to a knee to the body, and he slams a shin into Gracie’s liver. Jourdain slips a few punches and tees off on Gracie, who is taking a beating but not slowing. Jourdain jumps in the air with a flying knee with seconds to go, and he lets fly a few more punches and kick until the lackluster match ends.

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Apr 30, 2023 (6 days before fight)
Charles Jourdain

Angelo picks Charles Jourdain because he is the more complete MMA fighter. He notes that Kron Gracie has been away for four years and in his last fight against Cub Swanson, he didn't attempt to grapple effectively and was pieced up on the feet. Angelo believes Jourdain's takedown defense should be sufficient against Gracie's poor wrestling, and that Jourdain's striking and speed will be decisive. He sees the most likely outcomes as Jourdain by decision or Gracie by submission, but favors the MMA fighter.

Kron Gracie

Big Brady picks Gracie despite a 3.5-year layoff. He notes Jourdain has poor takedown defense (48%), and Gracie only needs one takedown to submit him. He acknowledges the layoff is a huge risk but believes Gracie's path to victory is clear: take Jourdain down, take his back, and choke him out. He predicts a first-round submission.

Kron Gracie

Cody highlights that Jourdain has 48% takedown defense in the UFC and gets taken down frequently by lesser grapplers. He believes Gracie's world-class jiu-jitsu can exploit Jourdain's wild striking style, which creates openings for takedowns. Despite Gracie's four-year layoff, he sees value at plus money because Jourdain's recklessness plays into Gracie's strengths.

"he shows career takedown defense in the UFC of 48 percent and he's taking on Crown Gracie and KRON Gracie's plus money that's good enough for me man"

Connor Ruebusch Expert Confident picked May 4, 2023 (2 days before fight)
Charles Jourdain

Connor also picks Jourdain, citing the X factors of Gracie's long layoff and uncertainty about his training. He notes that Jourdain is a very good striker who can stop takedowns after the first round, and that Gracie's best chance is an early submission. Connor believes Jourdain's power and pressure will be too much as the fight progresses.

"I just got to go with Jordan here."

"I'm actually going to go with a body kit KO for Charles Jordan I think he's going to get the hands up higher throw a couple of head kicks throw a couple of leg kicks mix it up high and low and then boom a big kick to the body is going to put down Kronk racing and finish him in the first or second round"

Charles Jourdain vs. Nathaniel Wood
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jourdain (-135), Wood (+115)

Round 1
The main card should start off with a bang, if Jourdain (13-5-1, 4-4-1 UFC) and Wood (18-5, 5-2 UFC) have anything to say about it. The Canadian has leaned into his French-speaking side this week, acting as an adopted French fighter, and the crowd is clearly on his side for this featherweight contest. Lacing up his running shoes is referee Rich Mitchell, who may be moving fast and furious to keep up with these two action-heavy 145ers. They touch gloves before the mayhem begins, and the crowd goes wild at the sight of all-time great Georges St. Pierre in the crowd. Jourdain pays his countryman no mind as he has a job to do, and he starts off with a flurry of kicks. The Canadian goes high and low with kicks, and he trips Wood up. Wood throws haymakers back, surprising Jourdain briefly, and the two wind up in a clinch. Wood trips Jourdain out and plants him on the mat, where he climbs into the guard to take the striker out of his game briefly. Jourdain defends off his back with a guillotine choke, but the leverage is not there, so Wood does not register it. The Brit hangs on from above, and Jourdain considers grabbing the guillotine again until Wood threatens with his shoulder in the early stages of a Von Preux choke. Jourdain bucks and sits up, but Wood is persistent in keeping him pinned to the canvas. Mitchell tells them to work, so Jourdain answers by walking up the fence. Jourdain gets away with a fence grab while Wood is hanging on to him in the clinch, and he pushes the fighter off of him so that he can strike. Jourdain tags Wood with a few punches and a high kick, and he snaps the head back much to the delight of the French-speaking audience. Wood gathers himself and pitches out a front kick, and his foot skims off the cup and causes a brief pause in the action. Wood apologizes for it, and they get back to it after a few seconds. Wood times a front kick that comes at him with a huge right hand, and Jourdain is hurt badly but keeping a stiff upper lip. Jourdain’s balance nearly gives way beneath him, but with Wood not pushing the pace, Jourdain is able to get his wits about him again. This similar exchange occurs twice more, with Jourdain pushing out a front kick only to get clubbed with a right hand over the top. Jourdain toughs it out and gets kicked hard on his calf, forcing him to spin all the way around. Wood chips away at the lead leg again, and Jourdain greets him with three crisp uppercuts. Jourdain strings three punches together, but Wood unleashes one power right hand that stings Jourdain again. “Air” backs off, and he suddenly leaps in the air with a flying knee that Wood sees coming. Wood pushes it off and strings together a combination, and the two high-five when the bell sounds, putting a close to this exciting round.

Round 2
The fists get bumped to start off the second frame, and Wood stalks his foe down early. Jourdain does not let Wood get the upper hand, crashing forward with a several-punch combination that is largely blocked, and a head kick that is also guarded. Wood works the body with a few punches and a front kick, and Jourdain comes out firing right back at him. A body kick from Jourdain allows Wood to trip his other leg out, and Wood jumps down to take top position. Jourdain kicks off before long, working his way back upright. Jourdain steps through a leg kick to score a few uppercuts and a knee up the middle, and Wood lets him have it with a huge left hook. Jourdain shrugs it off and the body shots that come to follow, and he answers with two ripping punches to the midsection. They trade punches in close boxing range, fighting in a phone booth when they close in. Jourdain strides in with several uppercuts, and Wood does the same before tripping Jourdain’s legs out and putting him down once more. Wood moves into the guard, and Jourdain tries to hip escape but gets held there. Mitchell is already imploring Wood to work after just a few seconds in top position, as Jourdain is fighting tooth and nail to get the right angle to explode back up. Mitchell warns the Brit again to improve his position, as Wood is just punching the body with short strikes, and they get stood up. Wood strings three punches together when standing again, and Jourdain takes a leg lock as he tries to reply. When they close in, four uppercuts come from Jourdain, and a furious exchange ensues with “Air” getting the better of it. They remain up close, and Jourdain blasts the body with a stern knee. Wood responds with a few straight punches, but Jourdain is the more active of the two as he keeps working the body and head with uppercuts. Wood stuns him with a left hand, and Jourdain takes it flush and throws back. Jourdain turns the tables and hits a trip on Wood, and they get back up quickly. Wood pays him back with his own trip, and Jourdain springs back up and nails Wood with an elbow. From a foot away, Jourdain manages to spin with a subsequent elbow, and England's Wood eats it like a platter of fish and chips. The round ends after this striking flurry.

Round 3
The fighters embrace after 10 minutes of action to open up the last round, and they pick up right where they left off. Both men strike with punches and body kicks one after the other, and when one scores a low kick, the other replies in kind. Jourdain pushes away a body kick and walks into a leg kick, but he manages to get off a few short strikes up the middle. Wood dips back when a bigger uppercut comes at his face, and he gets tripped out and put down. “The Prospect” manages to turn him around and drop Jourdain to his back, and he lowers himself into the guard to slow things down. Jourdain wants none of this, and he muscles himself up to the fence. Wood follows him so that he can rail him with two short but fierce elbows, and Jourdain pushes off and keeps a tight guard to come in and throw hands. Wood counters and then hits a trip to dump the Canadian to the mat, and Jourdain kicks him off without concern and stands up. Wood is right there every step of the way when Jourdain tries to engage in their close-range battle, and he beats Jourdain to the punch when they get up tight. Jourdain uses uppercuts effectively to the body and chin, and one of Wood’s counters knocks Jourdain back. Jourdain tries to stride in and spin with an elbow, but Wood keeps his guard up in time. Wood fishes for a trip and cannot land it, as Jourdain marks his body up with several knees. Jourdain fires off another spinning elbow up close, and it collides behind the ear of the Brit. Wood puts a kick to the body that changes Jourdain’s expression, and he scores several more body shots that slow the Canadian down. Wood’s workrate is higher, and Jourdain begins to start getting desperate and throwing winging punches. “Air” mixes in flying knees, and he sits down on two hooks that knock Wood back. With 15 seconds to spare, Jourdain empties the gas tank with a flying kick, and Wood shuts this down with a clinch, and he manages to put Jourdain down to the mat to ride out the exciting battle.

Shane Burgos vs. Charles Jourdain
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Burgos (-170), Jourdain (+145)

Round 1
Mayhem is almost certainly on the menu for this featherweight contest between ferocious strikers Burgos (14-3, 7-3 UFC) and Jourdain (13-4-1, 4-3-1 UFC). Receiving the biggest pop of the evening thus far is New Yorker Burgos, who hopes to channel the crowd’s energy and handle the high-flying Canadian. Referee Keith Peterson has his hands full for the nonsense-free chaos that is likely about to ensue, and the two men light the fuse that is their bout with a glove touch. Burgos immediately begins to walk the Canadian down, and he blocks a head kick from the retreating Jourdain. Burgos reaches Jourdain with a few punches, and Jourdain pushes out several front kicks. A right hand from Burgos shakes Jourdain up, and Jourdain bounces off the wall behind him to reset. Burgos continues his constant forward movement, and he unexpectedly grabs hold of the legs to try a takedown. Burgos manages to get Jourdain down, and he finds himself in guillotine choke danger. “Hurricane Shane” shakes off the choke so that he can move to take the back, and Jourdain stands up and tries to peel Burgos off of him with the wire. Burgos uses this moment to jump on to his back, and he kicks off the fence to pull Jourdain back down. When down on the ground, Burgos latches on to a neck crank, and Peterson checks to make sure that Jourdain is still with it. He is good to go, and he slides his neck out of the crushing grip. Jourdain stands up again, even with Burgos on his back, and he not as much moves out the back door as he does slide out the side, and he lowers Burgos down to the ground. Burgos explodes back to his feet, and when he does, Jourdain meets him with a punch that draws a smile. Jourdain ties his man up and unloads with several knees to the body, and these have a noticeable impact as he slows Burgos down and finds the home with several short yet powerful blows. Burgos strides forward confidently, and Jourdain counters him by trying to sweep the legs. Burgos keeps himself upright and blocks a few kicks, and he plods ahead to throw hands. Jourdain again ties him up and works the midsection with knees until they break. Burgos offers him a glove touch after the multiple successful blows, and he steps in with a leg kick. Burgos winds up with one that lands with a loud slap, and Jourdain grabs him and spams knees. “Air” Jourdain just misses with a flying knee, and the clinch draws out a few strikes before the horn sounds. This round could go either way.

Round 2
The featherweights meet in the middle with a slap of gloves to start off the round, and Jourdain backs off and reaches out with front kicks. Backing up, Jourdain sneaks in a right hand, and Burgos walks through it only to absorb a left hand that makes him smile. Jourdain is throwing leather as he keeps his safe range, and he beats Burgos to the punch in a few exchanges. Burgos rips the body with a right hand, but it is one-and-done as Jourdain escapes on the outside. When Jourdain overthrows on a strike, Burgos moves to take Jourdain from behind. Burgos manages to climb on to the back and lock up a body triangle while Jourdain is standing, leaning Burgos into the wall. Burgos cannot free his hands to hunt for a choke, but he does lean back to pull Jourdain away from the fencing and force Jourdain to bear his full weight. Jourdain bucks suddenly and bends over, and Burgos hands on tight and frees his hands to go after a rear-naked choke. Jourdain rolls all the way over, but Burgos’ body triangle keeps him tightly pressed on his man. The Canadian wriggles and shakes in an effort to get Burgos off of him, but it is to no avail, as Burgos starts to bop him on the sides of the head with very short punches. Burgos isolates the neck and bails on it to flirt with a Suloev Stretch, which makes Jourdain drop to his knees so a kneebar does not come from the position. The back control of Burgos is heavy and smothering, forcing Jourdain back down to his knees and nearly flattening him out. “Air” cannot get some space, and he finds himself in submission danger as Burgos locks on to a rear-naked choke that is just crushing on Jourdain’s jaw right below the nose. Jourdain toughs it out and stops Burgos from tapping him, and Burgos gets the crowd motivated as he smacks Jourdain upside the head until the horn blares.

Round 3
The exciting featherweights meet in the middle, and Burgos chops at the lead leg a few times to open up early. Jourdain responds with similar strikes, and they trade right hands as chants of “USA” rain down for the New Yorker. Burgos walks Jourdain down but eats several jabs on the way forward, and he is fighting in phone booth throwing punches to the body and kicks to the calf. Jourdain meets him with straight punches, and he chains a few punches together to mark Burgos’ face up. The jabs keep splitting the guard, and he backs Burgos up and scores several times without concern. Burgos is right there ready to trade, and he gets beaten to the punch several times as Jourdain’s left finds its home repeatedly. Jourdain strings together a sharp combination, leading to Burgos attempting a single. The Canadian defends it well and drills Burgos with multiple uppercuts, hurting Burgos but not getting him off of him. Burgos tries to pull Jourdain down, but Jourdain turns him around and knees him in the face. Burgos drops down to a knee when absorbing those strikes, and Jourdain rips the body several times. Jourdain lets his hands go as Burgos is reeling, and he is hurting Burgos with several big shots. Jourdain opens up with several hooks and kicks low, and Burgos’ single responses are labored and largely ineffective. Burgos, stuck against the wall, eats big punches and uppercuts, and Jourdain mixes it up with a flying knee. Jourdain unloads on Burgos with knees to the head and body, and his hands do not stop moving as he batters Burgos constantly. Burgos looks at the camera and sticks out his tongue, and Jourdain looses a vicious elbow that staggers Burgos. The New Yorker falls back against the fence, and he rebounds and ducks down to tie Jourdain up from the back. Burgos takes the back and slows the onslaught, and Jourdain grabs the fence to stay afloat. Jourdain yells “come on” as Burgos drags him down, only to spring right back up. With seconds left on the clock, they throw caution to the wind, and Jourdain nails him with a head kick. Burgos swings with everything he has left, as does Jourdain, and Peterson has to get between them when the final bell sounds. What a round for Jourdain, doing to Burgos what Burgos likes to do to people. They go the distance, and this fight could hinge on the first round’s score.

Charles Jourdain vs. Lando Vannata

Round 1
A featherweight scrap expected by some to be the frontrunner for “Fight of the Night” will continue the main card, when Vannata (12-5-2, 4-5-2 UFC) takes on the appropriately nicknamed “Air” Jourdain (12-4-1, 3-3-1 UFC) for the latter’s high-flying prowess. This could get wild, and referee Keith Peterson will have to be on his A-game here at sweeping away nonsense. The gloves get touched ahead of this hopefully exciting matchup, and Jourdain comes out aggressively. When he reaches out a little too far, Vannata scoops him off the mat and slams him down. Jourdain kicks him off and looks to scramble, but Vannata smoothly follows him and even takes his back as Jourdain moves. A couple punches land to the back of the head, and Jourdain explodes back to his feet. When upright again, the Canadian is met with a body kick and a crisp uppercut from “Groovy,” who styles on him with several quick, effective blows. Vannata kicks the body and steps forward with a right hand, only to be met with a piston-like left hand that knocks Vannata clean off his feet. Jourdain snatches hold of a guillotine when jumping on top, and Vannata pulls his neck out and tries to take Jourdain down.
In doing so, Vannata falls into another guillotine choke that Jourdain holds with only one arm. “Air” Jourdain secures the grip, and he sits up to half guard with his hands clasped crushingly tight. Vannata, with his head torqued at a horrible angle, signals that he is ok by putting an arm up in the air, only to then tap out with his other hand, as his head changes to a brilliant shade of vermillion from the application of the choke.
When Peterson steps in, Vannata has to pull his shorts up, because Jourdain apparently choked them off too. That’s two powerful Canadians in a row locking up guillotine chokes just after the midpoint of the round, with each just as impressive as the other.

Andre Ewell vs. Charles Jourdain

Round 1
Up next is an all-action fight in the men’s featherweight division, when Jourdain (11-4-1, 2-3-1 UFC) and his 100% finish rate take on a man known as “Mr. Highlight” Ewell (17-8, 4-4 UFC). Referee Mark Smith has laced up his shoes to keep up with the potentially torrid pace of this one, and the fighters warmly touch gloves before getting after it. Ewell springs in and out of distance, flicking a jab out early. Jourdain counters with a leg kick, and Ewell stops in his tracks and looks frustrated before throwing one right back. The two trade single strikes back and forth, with Ewell going for power punches while Jourdain aims ripping leg kicks that irritate Ewell every time. Jourdain darts forward with a combination ending with a leg kick, and he steps back but still absorbs a leg kick that flies his way. They come together in a flurry, and Jourdain makes certain to end his combinations with slapping leg kicks. Ewell swats at him with a left hook, aiming punches that largely collide with the guard. Jourdain does not change things up, with punch salvos ending with low kicks. Jourdain just misses with a high kick, and he absorbs a flush body kick for his effort. Jourdain stings his opponent with a left hook, and Ewell is ready to put on a show as he swings back with bad intentions. Ewell keeps a wide stance as he switches back and forth between orthodox and southpaw, and he surprises Jourdain with a flying knee on the chin. Jourdain falls backwards but gathers himself, where he puts aggression on Ewell and kicks him in the face with the top of his foot. Ewell wears it well and throws back, but it is Jourdain putting his foot on the gas and giving chase. Ewell catches Jourdain coming in with a clean left hand, but Jourdain settles down and kicks Ewell in the body. Ewell stays busy from the outside, turning a combination to circle around behind Jourdain’s back. Jourdain turns off and comes back, only to need to duck a looping punch. “Air” gets some air with a flying knee, and Ewell pushes him over and takes top position with 30 seconds left in the round. Jourdain threatens with a guillotine choke to stand back up, and he delivers a heavy leg kick and a few thudding punches right before the round ends.

Round 2
The featherweights meet in the middle and start trading, with Jourdain upping the volume and adding up with leg kicks. Ewell comes back at him with furious strikes, only to absorb a leg kick at the end of his combinations. Jourdain cracks Ewell with a left hand, one that stuns Ewell for a moment. The Canadian does not falter with his assault on the lead leg of his opponent, no matter the stance of Ewell. Ewell jabs out a few times, but Jourdain is there to pound his shin on Ewell’s knee and thigh. Suddenly, “Air” Jourdain goes up high with a kick, and once more it lands cleanly on the face. Jourdain starts to stalk Ewell down, cutting off the angles and shelling up when Ewell fires back at him. As they start to throw recklessly, Jourdain stumbles and has to reset. Ewell stands in the pocket and trades, not budging an inch when Jourdain comes at him, until Jourdain starts throwing kicks again. Ewell ducks out of the way of a high kick and a spinning back fist, and he sticks out a few jabs. Jourdain has a head kick get blocked, but he continues to walk “Mr. Highlight” down. When Jourdain works the liver with a left, Ewell bites down on his mouthpiece to swing right back at him. Jourdain pursues a takedown, and settles for a trip, only to get Ewell to drop to his knees. Ewell begins to start fading as Jourdain turns up the pace, continuing to work him at a safe distance. A few clean left hands land flush for Jourdain, who is not concerned about what comes back at him from Ewell. A punch to the body sets up two to the head, and Jourdain tears into him with an elbow, a few punches and a destructive knee that puts Ewell on wobbly legs. Ewell breaks free and stumbles across the cage, and Jourdain sprints after him and practically leaps into half guard to try to finish the job. Jourdain sits up and cracks Ewell with ground-and-pound, and he briefly considers a submission until posturing up to hurt Ewell with more hellacious blows. With seconds to spare, Jourdain slaps on an irregular choke, but time expires before he can secure anything.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-8 Jourdain
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-8 Jourdain
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Jourdain

Round 3
They touch gloves to start off the last round, and Jourdain is right there to kick the chest. Ewell backs away as Jourdain swarms towards him, and he lands a single leg kick but one that comes back at him is much heavier. Every strike Jourdain lands draws a reaction out of his opponent, and he mixes things up to the body while Ewell tries to regain his composure and catch his breath. They clash together, and when they separate, Ewell jabs at him. This allows Jourdain to wreck his leg with a few more low kicks, and Ewell settles on a clubbing right hand that makes Jourdain stagger back from the impact and not from the damage. Jourdain knows a finish could be around the corner with a well-timed combination, and he opens up with a few punches and a spinning back fist for good measure. Ewell suddenly counters him back with a front kick that glances off his chin, and Jourdain is hurt and has to shake off the cobwebs. Jourdain blocks a flying knee so that he can go back to his constant forward movement, and he batters Ewell’s lead leg and throws haymakers that are barely avoided. Ewell scores a slapping combination, and Jourdain loads up on a pair of right hooks that shake Ewell up. Jourdain zings a high kick that is barely blocked, and he pressures Ewell back to the wall to unload a combination on him. Ewell eats a leg kick and tries to respond with a kick of his own, but Jourdain rushes forward to knee him in the body a few times. The knees hurt Ewell, and he bends over and trips when Jourdain throws him back. “Air” Jourdain shouts gutturally as he wants to finish the fight, and he pours it on with a long combination that ends up with several brutal knees to the head and body. Smith implores Ewell to fight back, and Jourdain continues to tee off on Ewell with knees while he is bent over. A trio of clean knees land flush for the Canadian, who screams and throws with everything he has. Jourdain spins with a kick that connects right straight to the jaw of Ewell, and he is barely able to stay on his feet. Still, Ewell swings back at the 10-second clapper, as Jourdain tells him to keep fighting. They throw down right to the bitter end, with the final blow a push kick from Jourdain that sends Ewell flying as Jourdain embodies his inner King Leonidas. What a wild ending to a terrific battle!

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Dec 15, 2021 (3 days before fight)
Charles Jourdain

Angelo picks Charles Jourdain to win and has a full unit on under 2.5 rounds at -110. He believes Jourdain's forward pressure, speed, and variety will overwhelm Ewell, who has cardio issues and doesn't use his reach advantage. Angelo notes that Jourdain has a 100% finish rate and expects him to get a finish after Ewell gasses. He also mentions that Ewell's reach advantage is meaningless because he doesn't use it.

Charles Jourdain

Big Brady picks Charles Jourdain, citing his power and finishing ability (100% finish rate, 6 knockdowns in UFC). He notes Ewell's tendency to slow down in fights and has been finished multiple times. He believes Jourdain's cardio is better and expects a late finish, likely by KO. He acknowledges the line is close but favors Jourdain's danger.

Charles Jourdain

Cody is hesitant on Jourdain, noting his sloppy technique and tendency to get rocked. He acknowledges Jourdain's flashy moves but says he doesn't put together combinations. Ewell has a reach advantage and is making his featherweight debut. Cody thinks Jourdain might win but doesn't want to bet him at -200, calling it a pass.

"I'm gonna end up picking him on the prp I'm sure but I don't want to bet charger idea minus 200 man"

Daniel Levi Expert Lean picked Dec 16, 2021 (2 days before fight)
Charles Jourdain

Daniel Levi leans toward Charles Jourdain but is not confident. He notes Jourdain's talent, volume, and ability to knock down opponents, but also his tendency to let fights slip away, as against Julian Erosa. Levi is curious how Andre Ewell will look moving up to featherweight, as his weight cuts may have affected his durability. He acknowledges Ewell's reach and volume but has been burned betting on him before. Levi thinks Jourdain's youth and improvements give him the edge, but calls it a tough fight.

Jourdain by decision; fight goes to decision
"I'll lean Jourdain but you can definitely make an argument for some line value on Ewell at plus 160."

Jacob Lines Expert Confident picked Dec 15, 2021 (3 days before fight)
Charles Jourdain

Jacob picks Charles Jourdain, citing his toughness and finishing ability. He recalls Jourdain's fight against Marcelo Rojo where Jourdain said he would finish him and did. Jacob believes Jourdain has better cardio and pressure than Ewell, and that Jourdain is a little better everywhere. He agrees with Angelo's under 2.5 rounds bet and thinks Jourdain will win by finish.

The MMA Guru picks Charles Jourdain to win by TKO, predicting a third-round finish. He notes Jourdain's leg kicks and body kicks will break down Ewell, who has a history of breaking his forearm. Charles Jourdain vs. Julian Erosa

Round 1
In this next bout, a previously scheduled 150-pound catchweight affair, pure Canadian finisher Jourdain (11-3-1, 2-2-1 UFC) will try to keep “Juicy J” Erosa (25-9, 3-5 UFC) at bay in what should be a good one. In their combined 36 wins, these two men combine for 33 stoppages, so referee Jason Herzog may have his hands full. There a briefly offered glove touch, but it is rescinded when Erosa appears to want to come out firing instead. Jourdain notices this and backs off to avoid any oncoming offense, and he gets off a solid right hand. Jourdain slings a head kick, and when he follows it with another with the same leg, it gets caught and Erosa shoves him back into the fencing. Nothing comes of it, and Erosa tries to kick his man in the head but comes up so far off the mark that he bails on it halfway through and nearly falls on his face. Jourdain stands back to let Erosa reset, and Erosa marches forward to throw hands. Both land flush, and Jourdan tries to fire off a head kick and falls down to the ground. He scrambles back up, and Erosa chases him down with a body kick and a right hand that gets blocked. In the center of the cage, Erosa starts to goof around with his hands, twirling around and sneaking a right hand through the guard that forces Jourdain to stumble backwards. When Jourdain gathers himself, he sticks out a few jabs and tries to land a high kick, but Erosa evades the blow and thumps Jourdain in the liver with a nasty left hand. Jourdain stays on his heels as Erosa gives chase, stringing together a series of punches but getting interrupted when the Canadian blasts him in the body with a kick. Erosa pressures his foe into the chain-link fence, and he briefly looks for a trip before abandoning it to throw hands. “Air” Jourdain stings Erosa with a left hand and a body kick, and Erosa fights through it to rock Jourdain with a left that sends the Canadian falling backwards into the wall. When Erosa runs towards him to try to seek a finish, Jourdain preemptively leaps in the air with a knee, and Erosa watches it soar past him so that he can land a few short shots before the buzzer.

Round 2
Jourdain is the first to engage with a high kick that collides with the shoulder, and he rolls with the punches to pursue a head kick. Erosa remains composed, keeping his boxing going to keep Jourdain honest. Jourdain begins to land a few heavy leg kicks, and Erosa counters with fists that mark his nose up. Jourdain clips Erosa with a few left hands, and the two start trading wildly. Erosa steps in with an uppercut that collides with the guard, and Jourdain slips and rips him with a right hand. Erosa steps in with a knee that gets blocked, and he lands a few punches but is tagged with an uppercut that makes Erosa drop his hands. Jourdain cracks Erosa with a few punches, and the Canadian looks to set up a flying knee but gets kicked in the groin with a front push kick. Herzog blames Jourdain for jumping into the kick, and the action resumes after a 20-second pause and a laugh. Erosa starts targeting the body with impunity, ripping shots with both hands until Jourdain has to back off. Jourdain sits down in a huge left hand that stuns Erosa, and he ignores a body shot to get off another as Erosa marches him down like a Terminator. Jourdain finally gets some space, allowing them both to land kicks. Erosa walks into a left hand and eats it like a steak so that he can dig a left hand to the liver. Jourdain suddenly seems fired up, sprint towards Erosa and nailing him with punches. As Erosa pushes back, Jourdain connects a chin-crunching right hand that puts Erosa on his back. Jourdain does not jump into the guard, instead letting Erosa stand back up so that he can tee off on the feet. Erosa gathers his thoughts and starts to pressure Jourdain again. “Air” Jourdain ignores a spinning back forearm on the side of his head so that he can wind up with big right hands, and he does not even register his leg getting kicked so that he can trade with his opponent. Erosa gives him a few strikes back before the close, exciting round ends.

Round 3
The fighters embrace before the last round begins, and Erosa is the one to begin by getting air, jumping up with a knee. Jourdain seems to have taken this personally, and he chains together a 10-strike combination that rocks and hurts Erosa. The American steels himself and drops down to pursue a takedown, and he hits it to put Jourdain on the canvas. Jourdain scoots his way to the fence to stand, and Erosa takes his back and looks to drag him back down. Jourdain keeps a knee out to push Erosa away, and Herzog warns them to keep fighting as they stall out in this position. Jourdain hops around and spins out, but Erosa times a high knee and clinches him back up again. Erosa unloads with several knees to the body and a few punches, and Jourdain breaks away and lands a few head shots in response. Erosa continues to work the knees until he ties up against the fence again, with Jourdain hopping around on his right leg until Erosa trips him back down to the floor. Jourdain once more walks up the wall, and he leans down to try to push away.
Out of nowhere, Erosa latches on to a brabo choke, and Jourdain rolls but is completely trapped and firmly entrenched in the danger zone. “Juicy J” stays tight with the choke like a dog with a bone, and Jourdain is stuck and has to tap out before he goes out.
What a win for Erosa, who becomes the first man to finish the Canadian while recording his second choke of this kind in the Octagon.

Big Brady picks Charles Jourdain to win by first-round knockout, very confident. He notes Jourdain has 100% finish rate and hits very hard, while Erosa is extremely hittable (absorbs 5.78 sig strikes/min, 50% striking defense) and has a weak chin (knocked out 5 times). Erosa is also coming in on short notice. Brady expects Jourdain to land a brutal knockout early.

Julian Erosa

I lean Erosa here. He has a huge size advantage—4 inches of height and 5.5 inches of reach. He's fought much better competition and pushes a hellacious pace. Jourdain is dangerous early, but if Erosa survives the first round, he tends to take over. Erosa's chin is a concern, but Jourdain's cardio is unproven. I think if it goes 15 minutes, Erosa wins. I like Erosa on the moneyline and also the under 2.5 rounds because both guys are finishers.

Charles Jourdain vs. Marcelo Rojo

Round 1
This featherweight scrap that is about to take place comes in the form of a classic Canada vs. Argentina battle, when “Air” Jourdain (10-3-1, 1-2-1 UFC) looks to keep his finishing ways intact against uniquely nicknamed “Pitbull” Rojo (16-6, 0-0 UFC). Holding on tight for what could be a furious affair is referee Mark Smith, and the two stoppage-happy competitors touch gloves before swinging for the bleachers. Rojo thinks to come forward to start out swinging, but Jourdain is ready with a head kick. The kicks keep coming for the Canadian, spamming kicks to the head and body, and Rojo absorbs them and looks to counter. Rojo rushes in with an aggressive swing that nearly makes him fall over, but he backs off and Jourdain kicks at him and slips. The Canadian springs back up, and Rojo grabs hold of him to take the fight down. “Air” Jourdain does not stay grounded for long, powering his way back up and landing a kick the same time his foe lands one. Jourdain gets off a head kick a split-second before a right hand nails him in the face, and Rojo is loading up on shots to do some damage early. Rojo splits the guard with a knee up the middle, and Jourdain retreats to pepper away with leg kicks. Rojo sits down on his own leg kick that makes Jourdain nearly turn around, and he steps through with a left hand that stings Jourdain. Both men get off leg kicks at the same time, and they both land heavy punches before breaking apart. Jourdain slings three kicks to the body and head before Rojo can close the distance, and he keeps working these kicks until Rojo crashes the pocket and knees him in the face. Jourdain lets loose another head kick that gets blocked, and he stutter-steps forward to score a solid left hand. Rojo fires right back at him, and the two trade heavy leather for a moment. Jourdain kicks high, and Rojo blocks it and lets Jourdain tumble to the ground. As soon as the Canadian stands, Rojo is on him landing punches. Jourdain circles off and kicks high and low a few times, and Rojo chops at his legs with a few heavy leg kicks. Jourdain ducks in to throw, and the newcomer hurts him with a quick combination. Jourdain keeps a good poker face, and circles off the cage as Rojo chases after him to keep punching. Jourdain rushes forward to land and surprise Rojo, and the two trade furiously in the clinch as Jourdain presses his man into the wire. Jourdain works the body several times in close proximity, and the two break apart where Jourdain lets go with a big head kick. Rojo eats a few big punches, and the round ends.

Round 2
There is a respectful touch of gloves to start the second round after five minutes of fury, and Rojo advances first and lands a few punches and a slapping leg kick. Jourdain leaps forward with a jab, and Rojo meets him with six punches before Jourdain can get his bearings. Rojo rings Jourdain’s bell as he keeps landing, backing Jourdain into the fence and doing some damage. When they separate, Jourdain tries to kick but Rojo targets his legs with impunity. Rojo lands a right hand, and Jourdain fires right back to get Rojo’s attention. Jourdain hacks at the lead leg and snaps Rojo’s head back with a jab, but the newcomer is not concerned and instead meets the Canadian’s aggression with his own. Jourdain reaches out with his fingers, and he inadvertently jabs Rojo in the eye. A 30 second break is all Rojo needs to recover, and Jourdain apologizes with a glove touch. Jourdain from a distance starts working Rojo with leg kicks and body kicks, and Rojo tries to counter with booming overhand rights. Jourdain springs forward with a left hand and ducks the inevitable counter, where he backs off into the fence to secure a big head kick. Rojo starts ripping the body with vicious punches in bunches, and Jourdain doubles over in pain and surprise. Rojo uses his momentum to tie Jourdain up, and he tries to drag the fight down but Jourdain stays upright and gains separation. Rojo swings wildly and whiffs on a spinning back elbow, and Jourdain gathers himself and lands a few punches that mark up Rojo’s face. Jourdain scores a few times to his foe’s lead leg, and Rojo winds up on big shots that just barely miss. Jourdain hops forward, lands a left hand, and evades the counter that soon follows. Jourdain lands a kick that makes him fall back, but he regains his composure and sticks out a few jabs. Rojo absorbs a right hand to land three or four punches, and he chains them into a knee that forces Jourdain back into the fence. The Canadian gathers his thoughts and just barely avoids a huge punch to the body. Rojo chips away at his opponent’s leg, and Jourdain limps away. Out of nowhere, Jourdain cracks Rojo with a flying knee, and he seeks the finish as he pours it on. Rojo steels himself and slings heavy leather back, and the two trade violently to the bell.

Round 3
There is no feeling-out process to begin the final round, and they pick up where they left off swinging with everything they have. Rojo jumps forward to attack, and Jourdain stands firm and gets off several short shots until Rojo is forced to backpedal. Jourdain’s leg may be compromised, but he is not showing it as he puts several punches together. Jourdain stings Rojo with a left hand, and Rojo eats it like a steak and fires right back with his own salvo of punches. Jourdain splits the guard with a few quick strikes, and he steps away to uppercut Rojo in the face. A huge right hand from Jourdain knocks Rojo flat on his back, and “Air” Jourdain leaps through the air to drop bombs. Smith tells Rojo to defend himself as Jourdain pours it on, and Jourdain stands up to lord over his opponent but allows Rojo to get his bearings. Jourdain steps away, and he leaps high in the air to land a brutal hammerfist on the chin. Jourdain keeps slamming his fist into Rojo’s face, and he steps back to dive down and elbow him in the face. Jourdain is merciless, smashing the body and head and forcing Rojo to turtle up briefly. Rojo turns around and rolls to his stomach, where Jourdain ties up his arm and rains down punches. Jourdain steps away to let Rojo up, and he marches forward to slug it out. Rojo greets him with a violent flurry, and these two are giving it all they have and are laying into each other with bad intentions. Jourdain tags Rojo with a flying knee, and he works the body repeatedly as he bullies Rojo into the fence. Jourdain targets the body repeatedly, and Rojo tries to tie him up in the clinch.
Jourdain pours it on, throwing everything he has left in one blistering left hand that short-circuits Rojo and puts the newcomer out on his back. Smith has seen enough and saves Rojo from his own toughness, awarding what should be a massive comeback as some scored the first two rounds to Rojo.
With less than 30 seconds to go, Jourdain kept his 100 percent finish rate intact with a thrilling knockout after a terrifically violent battle.

Big Brady picks Charles Jourdain, noting his higher level of competition and brown belt in BJJ. He expects Jourdain to hurt Rojo on the feet and then submit him, as Rojo has been submitted four times. He mentions Jourdain has never won by decision and has a 100% finish rate. He is not confident in the price (-270) but sees a path to victory via submission in the third round.

Charles Jourdain

Daniel Levi picks Charles Jourdain but is not fully sold, noting that Jourdain has never landed a takedown in the UFC, which could be a problem against a grappler. He acknowledges Rojo's weakness is submissions, but Jourdain doesn't wrestle. He thinks the fight may be closer than the line indicates, but Jourdain's experience and volume should win a close decision. He is concerned about Jourdain getting touched after his draw with Josh Culibao.

The MMA Guru Expert Confident picked Mar 7, 2021 (6 days before fight)
Charles Jourdain

The Guru believes Charles Jourdain has a solid chin and can recover well, as shown in his fight with Andre Fili. He expects Marcelo Rojo to come out aggressively looking for an early finish, but will gas out, allowing Jourdain to take over in the second and third rounds. The Guru notes Jourdain's size advantage and youth (25 vs 32) as factors. He predicts a TKO win for Jourdain in the third round, citing Jourdain's higher level of competition and ability to survive early storms.

Charles Jourdain vs. Joshua Culibao

Round 1
Churning right along to a featherweight contest between two men hungry for a win, massive favorite “Air” Jourdain (10-3, 1-2 UFC) takes on Culibao (8-1, 0-1 UFC) in a scrap that has only seen them go the distance three times across their 18 wins. Referee Jason Herzog is charge of the cage for this one, and a glove touch precedes the action. Jourdain embraces his nickname by flying out of his corner with a flying kick that would make Liu Kang proud. Culibao evades it and backs off, and Jourdain is on him throwing kicks and a flying knee. Culibao grabs hold of him as he blocks part of the knee, pushing the Canadian into the cage and pursuing a trip takedown. Jourdain keeps his balance as he hops around while Culibao locks up a knee, and the two push off. Culibao throws up a head kick that gets blocked, and “Air” Jourdain slaps the lead leg with his own kick. They punch at the same time, and Jourdain targets the leg again. Culibao fires back with kicks to the body and head, and Jourdan walks through them but takes another kick to his waist. Jourdain hammers a leg kick that makes Culibao stumble, and Culibao blasts Jourdain in the face with a right hand to send the Canadian crashing to the ground. When Jourdain stands up, he gives up his neck and Culibao snatches on with a choke. Jourdain stands up as his nose is busted, and Culibao pushes him to the cage. Jourdain defends it by sprawling and fishing for a guillotine choke of his own, and Culibao pulls his head out and falls back into the same place. Jourdan wrenches him down and locks up the mounted guillotine choke before rolling to north-south position. Culibao scrambles wildly, bucking and yanking his neck out of danger. Jourdain gets up and allows his foe to stand, where he fires off one last kick to end the round.

Round 2
Jourdain attacks the body in the early going, landing a few shots and avoiding a flying strike from the Aussie. Culibao connects with a right hand, and then a left-right catches Jourdain on the chin. Jourdain lures him in and leaps forward with a knee, but Culibao evades it in time. Jourdain switches to a pair of body kicks, and Culibao comes back at him with a lunging left hand. Culibao sticks out a few jabs and gets kicked in the leg, where Jourdain follows through with a left to the gut. Jourdain fires off a head kick and ducks a left hand, and he commits to another left head kick. Jourdain pushes off, and Culibao clutches his eye. When the action pauses as Culibao rubs his eye, Culibao admits that he poked himself in the eye. A surprised Herzog restarts the fight immediately, and Williams charges in and throws a few kicks. Culibao is ready waiting for him with a few thumping body kicks, and Jourdain presses forward but gets countered coming in. “Air” Jourdain lands another leg kick, and he barely blocks a one-two that comes screaming at his face. Culibao jumps forward with a few punches, and Jourdain slings a wild left hook. Three punches from Culibao end with a punch to the body, and Culibao stumbles and falls forward. Trying to turn this into a takedown, Jourdain latches on to the neck and turns Culibao over. Jourdain cannot sink the choke in as Culibao gets back to his knees, so Jourdain stays content to work the body until the horn halts the round.

Round 3
When the third round begins, Culibao kicks the body and pushes forward to press Jourdain into the cage wall. The Aussie pursues a body lock takedown, but he cannot secure it and the Canadian frees himself from his grip. Jourdain bites down on his mouthpiece and wings a right hand, where he hurts Culibao. Jourdain pours it on as he swings with reckless abandon in the form of wild punches and flying knees. Culibao backs to the fence and turtles up, where he waits for Jourdain to stop striking so he can unleash a few punches. Culibao manages to get him backed off, but Jourdain kicks at him a few times. Culibao lands a kick to the groin, but Jourdain is amped up and asks to keep going. Culibao shoots in low for a takedown, and Jourdain goes hunting for the guillotine choke again. The Canadian jumps down with the choke on top, but it is not tight, so he breaks the grip and lands some punches from half guard. When Jourdain tries to get off some more strikes from on top, Culibao recovers full guard and defends against most of the strikes that come his way. Jourdain postures up after scoring a few punches to the body by landing some huge shots. Culibao rolls over in pain, and Herzog thinks it might have been an illegal blow so he does not stop the fight. Jourdain hops on top to grab hold of an armbar, and while he is looking to secure it, he hammers Culibao on the top of the head with elbows. Jourdain tightens up his legs to turn the submission into a triangle armbar, and Culibao powers his way out and miraculously gets to his feet. Jourdain stumbles a little as he might have gassed his legs, and Culibao comes out firing. Jourdain leaps and misses with a pair of flying knees as Culibao points to the center of the cage to embody Max Holloway. The two oblige, trading right to the final bell to end this close fight with a flourish.

Andre Fili vs. Charles Jourdain

Round 1
In what could be a surprising turn of events, the most experienced UFC fighter on this card is Team Alpha Male’s Fili (20-7, 8-6 UFC), who will take on high-flying Canadian Jourdain (10-2, 1-1 UFC) in a featherweight scrap. Referee Chris Tognoni is in charge of the cage, and before the action begins, Fili removes the tape covering his large ear piercing holes. They replace the tape right before the opening bell, and the two fighters touch gloves before letting it rip. Fili starts the fight aggressively by marching forward, but Jourdain is the first one to fire as he throws a kick to the upper body. Fili responds with a hard right hand, and the two trade heavy leather and hurt one another. Jourdain fires a body kick that lands squarely, and not to be outdone, Fili zings back a high kick that is barely blocked. Jourdain swings for the bleachers with some punches, and Fili is able to evade them and respond with a hard head kick. After a couple punches land from Jourdain, both men nail each other with head kicks. These two are going strike-for-strike so far, and neither want to take much of a back step. Jourdain lets fly a high kick, and Fili ducks back and taunts him. A powerful body kick from Fili scores, and it lands with a resounding thud. Fili takes a spinning back kick that glances off his midsection, and Jourdain resets with two high kicks that both get blocked. Fili whips up a high kick and Jourdain blocks it and laughs at him. Jourdain kicks high again and it is blocked, but those kicks may be having an impact on Fili’s right arm. Fili changes stances and gets clipped with a huge left hand that puts him down on the canvas. Jourdain jumps on top to try to secure a finish, but Fili fights him off and blocks a head kick when he stands back up. Fili gathers his thoughts and slings a head kick at his opponent, and these two are kicking with everything they have. A front kick from the body lands emphatically from Jourdain, who celebrates his work for a moment. Fili recovers and strings together a few punches with a head kick, and quickly hits a takedown. A couple punches from Fili land on top, and when Jourdain stands back up, we hear the horn. The two kickpunchers keep jawing at one another until Tognoni separates them.

Round 2
The second round begins appropriately with head kick attempts from both men. Jourdain tries to stick out that front kick he was successful with towards the end of last round, but Fili counters him with a straight left that backs him off. As he tries to set up another kick, Fili counters him ahead of him. Sensing he might have given up a tell, Jourdan switches to a series of low kicks, and Fili follows suit by blasting him right back. Fili is walking Jourdain down now, and two blocked head kicks from Fili are followed by a few low kicks. Jourdain fires right back at him with some low kicks, and long left hands along with a spinning back fist that Fili eats without issue. “Touchy” continues to touch him with long punches, while Jourdain is targeting the lead leg repeatedly with impactful kicks. Jourdain whips a high kick that Fili is able to block in time, but he does not return fire immediately. Instead, he gathers his thoughts and starts to work a few reaching one-two combinations that are ringing the Canadian’s bell repeatedly. Both men kick at the same time, and Fili sits down on a right hand as well as a high kick that Jourdain is barely able to defend against. Jourdain swings and misses with a right hook, and Fili catches him as Jourdain is trying to reset. Jourdain ducks his head down to throw heavy leather, and in doing so ducks the counters whizzing by his head. When Jourdain aims for the lead leg again, Fili uses the opportunity to take the fight down. The top position for Fili does not last long, as Jourdain gets back up and the two stand and trade until the horn sounds.

Round 3
The two clap hands to begin the final frame, and Jourdain starts off with a couple head kick attempts. Fili blocks him, and racks him with one of his own. The Canadian’s chin stays intact as he comes back low with kicks, allowing Fili to land a couple straight punches over the top. Fili ducks out of the way when a spinning back fist flies towards him, and he comes back to march Jourdain down and land a few punches. Fili scores with a head kick that, even though it was blocked, forces Jourdain to bounce off the cage wall. Fili targest the body with a few punches, and “Air Jourdain” wings some looping hooks before jumping in the air with a knee. Fili is well-prepared for it, and blocks it while quickly transitioning into a takedown. Fili gets him down, and steps over to half guard and side control before Jourdain rolls over to get out of the bad position. Fili keeps tight of him and tries to get his back, but abandons it to land a body kick when Jourdain stands to his feet. Fili follows a solid jab with a right hand, and eats one that sets him off-balance. Fili lands a left, and Jourdain connects with a right of equal effect. Fili times a leg kick coming his way with a counter left, and walks forward to fire up a head kick. Jourdain blocks it and flicks out a jab, before smacking him in the chops with a right hand that pops Fili’s head back. These two continue to trade violently, with each man having success from nasty power strikes. Fili tries to time an overhand right from his opponent with a takedown, and the Canadian stuffs it and gains separation. Jourdain wings a big right hook, and Fili tries again and hits the takedown he seeks. Jourdain scrambles and rolls, all while Fili hammers down punches from on top. This exciting and close fight ends with Fili on top swinging down punches while Jourdain is on his knees.

Andre Fili

Daniel Levi is confident in Andre Fili, describing him as the best version of himself, in his prime, with a well-rounded game including long striking, a jab, head kick knockouts, and wrestling. He acknowledges Charles Jourdain's exciting style and toughness but believes Fili's experience and versatility will be too much. Levi warns that Jourdain throws low-percentage moves repeatedly, which could catch Fili if he's careless, but overall expects Fili to win via unanimous decision.

"I do think that Andre feely kind of gives him the vet lesson a little bit mixing mixes in those double legs holds him down out points him with that jab the long strike so yeah I'm leaning with the favorite Andre feely too"
