Angelo Bodetti Expert Lean picked Nov 9, 2025 (6 days before fight)
Zhang Weili

Angelo leans towards Zhang Weili, citing her superior wrestling and athleticism. He believes Weili's clean double-leg takedowns will be effective against Valentina Shevchenko, who relies on striking to set up takedowns. He acknowledges Shevchenko's experience and durability but thinks Weili's speed and wrestling will be the difference.

"I am going to slightly lean way Lee here. I think the wrestling is going to be the difference."
BI
Big Brady Expert Lean picked Nov 12, 2025 (3 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Big Brady leans Valentina Shevchenko, citing her size advantage and natural weight class. He notes Shevchenko's wrestling ability, having taken down Manon Fiorot, and believes she can get takedowns on Zhang Weili, who was taken down multiple times by Rose Namajunas. However, he acknowledges Zhang's physical strength and says it wouldn't shock him if Zhang gets top position. Brady is not betting on this fight and predicts a decision win for Shevchenko.

"I'm going to lean Valentina Shiftenko ever so slightly. I think it's a decision."
CO
Cody Saftic Expert Confident picked Nov 12, 2025 (3 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Cody picks Valentina due to her size, experience, and well-rounded skills. He notes that she is an elite kickboxer and wrestler, and that her trilogy with Grasso was a blip. He highlights that Zhang has had takedown defense issues in the past, and that Valentina consistently scores takedowns. He believes Valentina's size and strength will be key, and that she will win by decision.

Valentina Shevchenko by decision
"Valentina Shevchenko by decision play for me."
CO
Connor Ruebusch Expert Hesitant picked Nov 13, 2025 (2 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Connor picks Shevchenko but is hesitant, calling it a coin flip. He argues that Shevchenko's simple, patient style and mental stamina will frustrate Zhang, who struggles with distance and initiating exchanges. He notes that Zhang's wrestling might be neutralized by Shevchenko's clinch and top control, and that Zhang has been vulnerable when taken down.

Odds: Shevchenko opened +120, now -135; Zhang opened -140, now +115.
"I'm going to take Shevchenko, but I'm fascinated by the fight too. It genuinely feels like a coin flip to me."
DA
Daniel Vreeland Expert Confident picked Nov 13, 2025 (2 days before fight)
Zhang Weili

Daniel respects Shevchenko's technical striking and well-rounded game, but sees Zhang as the fighter making rapid improvements, especially in wrestling. He notes that Zhang has outgrappled elite wrestlers like Carla Esparza and Tatiana Suarez, while Shevchenko hasn't shown the same evolution. He also likes the dog odds on Zhang and believes she can become a double champ.

"I'm actually going to pick Jean Lee to come out here, make history, become another double champ, and bring another belt back to China."
LU
Lucrative James Expert Confident picked Nov 9, 2025 (6 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Lucrative James picks Valentina Shevchenko to win, stating she is the greatest women's fighter of all time. He believes her wrestling and grappling are superior to Zhang's, and she can outskill her on the feet. He notes both fighters have losses due to grappling, but trusts Shevchenko's takedown accuracy and experience against tougher opponents. He expects Shevchenko to control the fight and win a decision or possibly a late submission.

"My prediction is going to be fairly short and sweet here, boys. It's going to be Valentina Chevchenko to get the win and go down as the greatest women's fighter that we have ever seen in MMA."
MM
MMA Lock of the Night Expert Confident picked Nov 13, 2025 (2 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Shevchenko's size and overall MMA advantages muzzle Zhang's style. She mixes martial arts well, sets up takedowns behind strikes, and wins on the scorecards.

"I think that Chevchenko is the side here. Look for her size and overall MMA advantages to help her really muzzle that uh style of Jeang. ... I expect her to do it on the scorecards."
PA
Paul Shaughnessy Expert Confident picked Nov 12, 2025 (3 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Paul agrees with Cody, citing Valentina's size advantage and superior wrestling. He notes that both fighters are similar in age but that Valentina is the bigger fighter and has a better takedown ratio. He thinks the fight will come down to grappling and top position, and that Valentina will win those exchanges. He also mentions that Valentina is more technical on the feet.

"give me the bigger bigger fighter with frankly a better, you know, takedown to taken down uh ratio."
TH
The MMA Guru Expert Confident picked Nov 12, 2025 (3 days before fight)
Zhang Weili

The Guru picks Zhang Weili to win by split decision. He believes Zhang is a better fighter than Alexa Grasso and Manon Fiorot, who gave Shevchenko close fights. He notes Shevchenko's recent performances have been less dominant, and Zhang's grappling and striking should be competitive. The Guru also suggests promotional favoritism towards the Chinese market could influence a close decision.

"I'm gonna go Jang Lee. Lighter woman's skill. Um I think she's better than Alexa Carraso and I think that's what this is going to come down to."
ZA
Zane Simon Expert Hesitant picked Nov 13, 2025 (2 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Zane also picks Shevchenko hesitantly, emphasizing that Zhang's game plan may not work against Shevchenko's patience. He notes that Zhang has become a punch-and-clutch fighter but still struggles with range, and Shevchenko will force her to initiate. He sees Shevchenko's ability to maintain a low-risk fight as key.

Same odds commentary.
"I'm going to pick Shevchenko just because I think because Weilijang struggles so much with that distance, that if her opponent is well attuned to taking advantage of that fact, they can take her down."

UFC Women’s Flyweight Title Fight: Valentina Shevchenko vs. Manon Fiorot
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Fiorot (-148), Shevchenko (+124)

Round 1
For the first time since 2022, champion Shevchenko (24-4-1, 13-3-1 UFC) will be facing a woman not named Grasso. She draws surging Frenchwoman Fiorot (12-1, 7-0 UFC), who could become the first French-born undisputed champion in UFC history—Ciryl Gane won the interim heavyweight strap. To the surprise of some, Fiorot will close as the betting favorite, but when the cage door closes, it’s all between the two flyweights and referee Marc Goddard. They cordially tap their gloves together to make it official. Shevchenko slaps out a leg kick and leans to avoid a head kick, with Fiorot advancing early. Shevchenko pushes her away to score a body kick, and she zips away before another high kick can reach her. Shevchenko clips the challenger with a one-two, who seems surprised by the blows and has to blink them out. Shevchenko blocks a kick to get off a right hand, and she ducks a right hook when Fiorot strikes. Fiorot plants a kick on the lead leg, and she is countered when trying a second. Shevchenko lets Fiorot come in so she can catch her with a check right hook, and Fiorot looks for a kick on the other side. Shevchenko considers changing levels, but ends up blocking a kick and skirting to the side. Shevchenko stands the Frenchwoman up with a right hand, and her low kick continues to find its mark. Shevchenko flicks up a kick to the nose that reddens it up fast, and Fiorot adjusts it. Shevchenko spins with a wheel kick, and Fiorot dodges but cannot get her hands on the champ. Fiorot walks face-first into a right hand, and she bangs her lead leg into her foe’s guard. The right hand from Shevchenko bloodies up Fiorot’s nose, and she stings her again and shakes her up. The nose for the challenger is busted and bleeding badly just three minutes in, and Fiorot ignores it and surges forward. Shevchenko dances easily out of the way to reset, and she is met with a kick that she catches and tackles Fiorot to the ground. Shevchenko lands in half guard, where she lords over her foe and completely controls her. Goddard asks for more action, with Shevchenko content to impose heavy shoulder pressure. Fiorot elbows her opponent in the posterior while Shevchenko lands a few punches, and the round ends.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Shevchenko
Dayne Fox scores the round: 10-9 Shevchenko

Round 2
Fiorot starts the round with her foot flying, and she shoots in for a double. Shevchenko leans against the wall to defend it, and she ducks away to escape. Shevchenko whips a kick up high that starts the bleeding again, and Fiorot promptly wipes her nose. Shevchenko spins with a back kick that slams into her ribs, and she skips away to evade a counter. Fiorot level changes and hits a 5-foot-5 wall that punches her in the face. Fiorot comes up short with a head kick, and she goes after a single that is equally futile. Shevchenko stands and waits for her opponent to come to her, countering her and hitting a trip to put the Frenchwoman on the mat. Fiorot scrambles madly to flip Shevchenko over, and they both get to their feet. Shevchenko beats Fiorot to the punch with her jab repeatedly, and she shoots for a double and cannot quite get it as Fiorot hops around skillfully. Fiorot pushes her foe back to get back to kickboxing range, and she raises up a high kick that gets blocked. Fiorot shoots for a takedown, and Shevchenko sprawls against the wall. Fiorot peels her leg away and grabs her from behind, leaning on the champ and kneeing her to the back of the thigh. Shevchenko spins away, but not before eating an elbow. Fiorot’s head kick cannot find its target, and she times a right hand with a takedown shot. Fiorot uses pure brute force to lift Shevchenko up in the air and dump her down, where she laces her legs around “Bullet” to pin her to her seat. Shevchenko posts off her right arm and barely blocks an illegal knee while she was grounded that Goddard did not see. Shevchenko does not protest, and the round ends.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Fiorot
Dayne Fox scores the round: 10-9 Fiorot
Scottie Smith scores the round: 10-9 Fiorot

Round 3
Goddard issues a hard warning between rounds, having acknowledged the near-foul, and the ladies get back to combat. They trade leg kicks to start, and Shevchenko goes high while Fiorot goes low a second time. Fiorot ignores a head kick that soars past her, and she stands there waiting for more offense to come at her. It is another blockable head kick, and she stuffs a takedown and reaches out with a right hand as Fiorot abandons it. The champ kicks the inside of the lead leg and flicks out a few jabs to get some space, and she nearly gets caught with a high kick. Shevchenko kicks the outer side of the leg, and they crash together when both going for level changes. Fiorot brings up a knee and an elbow, and Shevchenko scores a few jabs. When Fiorot charges, Shevchenko turns to the side and sprints around the cage to reset. Shevchenko shoots for a takedown that is unsuccessful, and she comes up top with a right hand. Fiorot fails on her own takedown effort, and she clinches up to drive four knees to the midsection. Shevchenko misses on a front kick to break, and she proceeds to work the front leg further. Fiorot flails her way in, inaccurate with her approach, and Shevchenko knees her in the face when Fiorot ducks down. This does not deter the Frenchwoman, who looks for a body lock takedown. Fiorot scores a knee or two to the inner thigh, and she plants one on the groin that Shevchenko once again does not protest. On the break, Shevchenko busts her foe’s nose open again with a right hand. The jab is soon to follow from the champ, who spins with a powerful back fist that forces Fiorot to shoot. Fiorot uses pure power to elevate her foe, and Shevchenko is able to hop around and keep her balance with the wall at her side. Fiorot knees the back of the leg, and Shevchenko pushes off the cage as Fiorot’s team claim falsely that she grabbed the fence—Goddard replies, “not even close.” Shevchenko pushes off with a punch and a kick, and the close round ends.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Fiorot
Dayne Fox scores the round: 10-9 Fiorot
Scottie Smith scores the round: 10-9 Fiorot

Round 4
The women meet the championship rounds, and Fiorot is amped up and ready to continue as she pitches kicks and jabs out. Fiorot lands a side kick, and Shevchenko surges forward with two hooks. Shevchenko times a head kick to spin with a wheel kick that nails the challenger on the chin. Fiorot shakes her head, and she has her nose bleeding early with peppery jabs. Fiorot ducks under one in pursuit of a double, and she succeeds in pushing Shevchenko against the cage but no further. Fiorot settles for a few knees up close and personal, and she transitions to a single that Shevchenko thwarts with a few punches up top. Fiorot zips past her foe with offense, and Shevchenko is calm and a cucumber and counters her. Shevchenko tries a quick takedown, and Fiorot backs her off with a knee to the midsection. Shevchenko knees Fiorot and skirts to the side to let the Frenchwoman go past her again, playing the matador. She drills Fiorot with a stern spinning kick to the ribcage, and all Fiorot can do is reset and try to move forward and clinch. Fiorot scores a knee in the tie-up before pushing her to the wall, where she leans heavily on her adversary and scoring a few more knees. Shevchenko breaks free while dodging a knee up the middle, and she kicks the lead leg of her advancing foe. Fiorot leaps forward and is out of range, and Shevchenko times a sneaky takedown to drag Fiorot to her seat. Fiorot rushes back to her feet and starts kneeing the champ in the side. Fiorot manages to get off an elbow in the clinch, and she pushes out a side kick. Fiorot spins with nothing, and Shevchenko counters her with a right hand that sends her flying to the ground. Shevchenko pounces, ending the round in style with ground-and-pound.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Shevchenko
Dayne Fox scores the round: 10-9 Shevchenko
Scottie Smith scores the round: 10-9 Shevchenko

Round 5
The fifth round has arrived, and it could be split leading into it. Fiorot acknowledges this and fights behind her jab, while Shevchenko shifts to the side and keeps moving. Fiorot chases her down and knees her once in the belly before tying her up, and she looks for a body lock takedown. Fiorot whiffs with an elbow on the break, and a high kick grazes her chin on the way out. Shevchenko counters her over the top with a left hand, and Fiorot bites down on her mouthpiece and slings leather back her direction. Shevchenko ducks a few punches to change levels, and Fiorot stonewalls her and shoves her back. Shevchenko smacks the front leg with a kick, continuously moving and blasting Fiorot with a spinning back fist. Fiorot is tough as a stale baguette, and she pushes forward into the clinch. Shevchenko breaks away and kicks her in the side. Shevchenko pecks out a jab, and she leaps forward with a Superwoman punch and a level change. Fiorot turns her about and pushes her to the wall, but she cannot keep the champ there. Fiorot fakes a spin, and she is at least a foot away from a head kick. Shevchenko connects with a punch, and Fiorot darts towards her with a short punch salvo before clinching up again. Fiorot knees her in the belly and leans on her, winding up with distance to plant the knees on the thigh. Fiorot sneaks around to grab the back of the champion, who spins around with a right hand as Fiorot tosses a head kick at her. Shevchenko counters a kick with a right hand, and her one-two comes up short. Her second lands, but not before Fiorot scores too. Shevchenko dings the challenger with a spinning back fist, and Fiorot pays her back with a knee and an elbow. Shevchenko knees back, and she aims a head kick at the bell. They go the distance, and the scores could go either way. Both women put their hands in the air after 25 minutes of fairly evenly-matched combat.

AN
Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked May 4, 2025 (6 days before fight)
Manon Fiorot

Angelo picks Manon Fiorot to become the new champion, citing her size, power, takedown defense, and striking. He acknowledges Valentina Shevchenko's evolution into wrestling but believes Fiorot's takedown defense and power will be too much. He thinks Fiorot controls the striking and keeps the fight on her feet.

"Mannon Fau is going to be the pick. I think she controls the striking. I think she keeps a fight on her feet and I think she becomes the new strawweight world champion."
BI
Big Brady Expert Hesitant picked May 6, 2025 (4 days before fight)
Manon Fiorot

Big Brady is hesitant but leans Fiorot. He notes Fiorot's high-volume striking, elite takedown defense (93%), and physical strength. He acknowledges Shevchenko looked great against Grasso but questions if that was due to Grasso's poor performance. He thinks Fiorot's movement and the big cage help her, and she can defend takedowns. He predicts a close decision win for Fiorot.

"I am going to go with Man on Fior to win a a close and competitive decision."
CO
Connor Ruebusch Expert Confident picked May 8, 2025 (2 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Connor picks Valentina Shevchenko, agreeing with Zane that she is a master of distance management. He notes that Fiorot's wrestling has not been tested against someone like Shevchenko, who has developed new takedown entries. Connor believes that Fiorot's game is not dynamic enough to exploit any potential age-related decline in Shevchenko.

"I'm surprised that chef chenko is an underdog here. I really am too. I have to assume she won't close as an underdog."

MMA Lock of the Night Expert Confident picked May 7, 2025 (3 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

The host notes Shevchenko has been an underdog three times in the UFC and is 3-0 in those fights, expecting her to go 4-0. He believes she will compete in striking but ultimately use her clinch and grappling to dictate the pace and win on the scorecards.

"Shvchenko has already come into the UFC as an underdog three times, and she's 3-0 in those matchups."

The MMA Guru Expert Confident picked May 6, 2025 (4 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

The MMA Guru picks Shevchenko, believing she is being disrespected as an underdog. He notes her championship experience, reach advantage, and recent dominant win over Grasso. He questions Fiorot's performance against Rose Namajunas, who fought with a broken hand, and thinks Shevchenko's technical striking and adjustments will win her a decision.

decision
"I'm going to go with Valentina Chevhenko getting this one done by decision."
ZA
Zane Simon Expert Confident picked May 8, 2025 (2 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Zane picks Valentina Shevchenko, arguing that she is a master of distance management and preventative footwork, making it incredibly difficult for opponents to get into range. He notes that Fiorot's striking has structural flaws, with her chin rising and feet squaring when she commits. Zane believes that if Fiorot wins, it will be more a sign of Shevchenko's age than Fiorot's skill.

"I'm surprised that chef chenko is an underdog here. I really am too. I have to assume she won't close as an underdog."

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Sep 8, 2024 (6 days before fight)
Alexa Grasso

Angelo picks Alexa Grasso despite acknowledging that Valentina Shevchenko likely won the last fight. He sees improvements in Grasso's game between the two fights, noting she won exchanges, rounds, and even dropped Valentina in the second fight. He believes the wrestling gap is tightening and the speed gap is widening, and that Grasso is younger, faster, and more creative. He placed half a unit on Grasso at -115, recognizing it's hard for a champion to win back the belt but thinks Grasso gets it done.

Placed 0.5 units on Grasso at -115.
"I think Alexa gets it done here and I've got a half a unit on her at minus 115"

Alexa Grasso

Big Brady acknowledges Shevchenko arguably won the second fight but notes her regression and Grasso's improvement. He also factors in the Mexican crowd and potential judging bias. He predicts Grasso wins a close decision.

"I got to go with grao... give me grao to win this fight and grao to win this fight by decision"

Daniel Vreeland Expert Confident picked Sep 11, 2024 (3 days before fight)
Alexa Grasso

Daniel picks Alexa Grasso to win the trilogy, arguing that Valentina hasn't evolved enough and that long-reigning champions rarely reclaim their belts. He notes Grasso's faster hands, higher volume, and finishing upside, while worrying about Grasso being taken down and controlled. He believes history favors Grasso and that she will make bigger improvements.

"I think that history favors Alexa Grasso here and uh for that reason I'm picking her"

Daniel Vreeland Expert Confident picked Sep 12, 2024 (2 days before fight)
Alexa Grasso

Daniel Vreeland picks Alexa Grasso because her trajectory is still upward while Valentina Shevchenko's is declining. He notes Shevchenko has lost a step in defensive grappling since the Taila Santos fight, and Grasso's striking and grappling have improved significantly. He believes Grasso's speed, cardio, and youth will be the deciding factors.

Grasso by decision +175
"I'm going with grao here I I think cardio speed all of those things and the youth is really going to be the biggest answer"

Jeff Fox Expert Confident picked Sep 12, 2024 (2 days before fight)
Alexa Grasso

Jeff Fox agrees with Daniel Vreeland, noting Shevchenko's decline had started even before facing Grasso. He mentions Shevchenko's mindset of thinking she won the last fight is not good. He goes with the ascending fighter who is much younger and already beat her.

"I know it's boring to say but I agree with everything Gumby says there yeah chevchenko every fight even before she started um even before she ran into Grasso you know the the decline had started"

Valentina Shevchenko

Shevchenko was a minus 800 favorite in the first fight and minus 160 in the second, now a plus 120 underdog. She was up 2-1 in the first before being submitted, and should have won the last fight if not for a bad scorecard. Expects Shevchenko to come even safer and cleaner, leaning on her wrestling to win on the scorecards.

plus 120 underdog
"I do have to lean with chevchenko here once again who was a minus 800 favorite in their first fight minus 160 favorite in their second fight and now finds herself as a plus 120 Underdog"

Alexa Grasso

The MMA Guru picks Alexa Grasso. He notes Shevchenko is aging at 36 and may carry negative energy from the controversial loss. Grasso is younger and improving, and he sees her capitalizing on Shevchenko's potential emotional state. He also mentions Grasso dropped Shevchenko in the second fight and could finish with a choke or win by decision.

Grasso by decision or late rounds finish with a choke
"I'm going with Alexa Gro shev shenko is just an aging fighter had a moment in the sun... I think she can capitalize more I think she's the more improving she's the younger fighter"

Angelo Bodetti Expert Confident picked Sep 10, 2023 (6 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Angelo picks Valentina Shevchenko despite her recent loss, believing she will wrestle heavy like she did against Maia. He notes her odds are the best since 2017 and compares it to Amanda Nunes getting her belt back. He acknowledges Grasso's skills but thinks Shevchenko's adjustments will lead to victory. He has no bet yet due to PTSD from UFC 293.

"I'm still picking Valentina despite the poor performance against Tyler despite her losing this exact fight just six months ago"

Valentina Shevchenko

Big Brady picks Shevchenko, arguing that she was winning the first fight until a mistake. He notes Shevchenko outlanded Grasso in most rounds and has more tools on the feet. He believes Grasso's takedown defense is still poor and that Shevchenko's experience and skill will prevail. He predicts a dominant decision, 49-46 or 50-45.

Cody Saftic Expert Confident picked Sep 13, 2023 (3 days before fight)
Alexa Grasso

Cody picks Grasso at plus 140, emphasizing the five-year age difference and Shevchenko's decline. He points out that Grasso won the first round in their first fight, was out-striking Shevchenko, and submitted her after a spinning back kick. He believes the momentum was with Grasso and that Shevchenko's cardio may not hold up. He also notes the 90% rematch stat and says Grasso has a lot of merit.

Grasso wins in round 4 or 5 (mentioned as hedge opportunity); fight goes distance minus 135
"I'm kind of Flippy floppy on this Main Event... I'll probably go with that plus 140 on Gro as well."

Daniel Levi Expert Hesitant picked Sep 13, 2023 (3 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Daniel Levi picks Valentina Shevchenko despite acknowledging the historical trend of long-reigning champions losing immediate rematches. He notes that submission losses are easier to recover from than knockouts, and he believes Valentina's decline may be overstated. However, he admits his bitterness over missing the plus-200 line on Grasso influences his pick, and he hopes he is wrong because he would like to see the division move forward with fresh matchups.

missed plus-200 on Grasso, now plus-145; notes buy-low spot on Valentina at minus-170

MMA Lock of the Night Expert Hesitant picked Sep 13, 2023 (3 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Shevchenko had a clear grappling advantage in the first fight, controlling rounds 2 and 3 before getting caught in the fourth. She should make adjustments, trust her striking more to set up takedowns, and bank rounds early. Grasso may have improved takedown defense, but Shevchenko's strength and experience should prevail. I'm hesitant because of the similarity to Usman vs Edwards 2, but I still favor Shevchenko by decision.

"I still see the advantages in shevchenko's corner and I feel like she's going to be strong enough and maybe make the adjustments required... give me chefchenko and new to regain her title this weekend and I think she does …"

Paul Shaughnessy Expert Hesitant picked Sep 13, 2023 (3 days before fight)
Alexa Grasso

Paul sides with Grasso as a slight underdog, citing Shevchenko's age (35) and recent vulnerability in fights against Taylor Santos and Jennifer Maia. He notes Grasso's youth (30) and improvement, and mentions a 90% stat where younger challengers who beat an older champion win the rematch. However, he is hesitant because the fight is in Vegas, not Mexico, and he may not bet it.

Fight goes distance minus 135; Shevchenko over 90.5 significant strikes; Shevchenko over 3 takedowns
"I'm going to slide side ever so slight with the underdog... I'll side with the champ ever ever so reluctantly."

Valentina Shevchenko

Angelo is confident in Valentina Shevchenko, stating she is better everywhere and will push Grasso around. He notes that Grasso is not a dangerous fighter and that Shevchenko should have no issues. Angelo sees this as a relief fight for Shevchenko after the Talia Santos fight.

Valentina Shevchenko

Big Brady is confident in Valentina Shevchenko, citing her superior striking and grappling. He notes Grasso has struggled with grappling in the past, and Shevchenko can take her down at will and dominate on the mat. He predicts a third-round TKO for Shevchenko, dismissing the idea that Grasso can pull off an upset.

Valentina Shevchenko

Cody believes Shevchenko is nearly unbeatable at 125 and that Grasso lacks the grappling to exploit her. He notes Shevchenko's takedown ability and well-rounded game will be too much. He expects a decision win for Shevchenko but won't bet the -700 moneyline; he would parlay it.

Valentina by decision; would parlay but not bet moneyline alone
"minus 700 like no way but I think he chased the Valentino by decision"

Connor Ruebusch Expert Confident picked Mar 2, 2023 (2 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Connor is confident Shevchenko wins, citing her ability to control distance and bully opponents in the clinch. He notes Grasso's poor range fighting and lack of feints or timing variation, which will make it easy for Shevchenko to counter or clinch. He believes Grasso's only path is a knockout in the pocket or a submission from her back, both unlikely. He mentions Shevchenko's declining athleticism but says Grasso's stylistic shortcomings are a death sentence.

Mentions Shevchenko opened at -550 and is now -737; Grasso +400 to +506. Implies Shevchenko is a parlay piece.
"It just seems like a death zone for Grasso. I think it looks like a pretty easily winnable fight for Valentina."

Valentina Shevchenko

Shevchenko is a fast, explosive striker with a good ground game. Grasso is a good striker but has struggled with takedowns. Shevchenko will likely take the fight to the ground and control Grasso, winning a decision or possibly a TKO finish.

The MMA Guru Expert Confident picked Feb 27, 2023 (5 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

The MMA Guru picks Valentina Shevchenko, believing her kicks will be the difference. He notes Grasso's boxing is good but she doesn't throw many kicks, and Shevchenko's top game could also be a factor. He predicts a decision win.

"I'm gonna go with Valentina Chef shenko here... I think the kicks are going to be the Difference Maker here."

Zane Simon Expert Confident picked Mar 2, 2023 (2 days before fight)
Valentina Shevchenko

Zane agrees Shevchenko wins, emphasizing that Grasso's lack of distance management and predictable entries will lead to Shevchenko's clinch bullying. He notes Grasso is a good pocket boxer but cannot get there safely, and Shevchenko's takedown defense is weak but Grasso lacks the strength to exploit it. He sees Shevchenko's consistent game plan overwhelming Grasso.

"I think we are probably looking at the first stages of Shevchenko declining... but it still seems like a death zone for Grasso."

Manon Fiorot vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Fiorot (-250); Jasudavicius (+200)

Round 1
As the main card continues, the victor of this match may be arguably closer than any other on the card—besides perhaps Reinier de Ridder should he get it done—to a title shot. Fiorot (12-2, 7-1 UFC) lost in her last time out vying for it, but a win would go a long way in keeping her right in the conversation. On her way up is Canada’s Jasudavicius (14-3, 8-2 UFC), who might punch her ticket for flyweight gold if she pulls off the upset. Referee Dan Miragliotta—the crowd doesn’t like his assignment—will be the first to know who that winner will be, although he does not want to interfere and stays back as the ladies opt not to bump gloves together.
Fiorot gets right behind her jab, peppering the Canadian right out of the gate by doubling and tripling up on it. Fiorot pecks at Jasudavicius and scoots out of the way, beating the Canadian to the punch repeatedly. The quick punches have already started to have an effect on Jasudavicius’s nose. Jasudavicius sells out with a big right hand, and it skims off the shoulder. Fiorot slips to the side and delivers a sneaky left hand on the way out, and she times a sharp one-two that shocks Jasudavicius down to her core. Jasudavicius’ legs nearly give out beneath her like a baby deer on an icy lake, and Fiorot sees her opening and immediately strikes.
The Frenchwoman drives a knee to the stomach, and she puts another on Jasudavicius’ face as she throws her foe to her seat. Fiorot unleashes a fury of left hands to brutalize Jasudavicius, and with Jasudavicius on her knees reaching out with her left arm to Fiorot’s hip, Miragliotta decides that enough is enough and waves the fight off.
The audience is silenced in an instant, except for Jasudavicius screaming at Miragliotta that she was not out and that she was still fighting back. This is a huge win for Fiorot, not only ending her own stretch of decision wins but destroying the win streak of a promising up-and-comer who would have been a fresh new face for flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko. Much like Joe Benavidez as the unrelenting gatekeeper to Demetrious Johnson’s historic reign, Fiorot eradicates a rising contender with one of the speediest finishes in women’s flyweight history.

Erin Blanchfield vs. Manon Fiorot
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Blanchfield (-192), Fiorot (+160)

Round 1
A possible shot at the flyweight title is on the line here as Blanchfield and Fiorot bring their dueling six-fight Octagon winning streaks into the “UFC Atlantic City” main event. Drawing the final referee assignment of the evening is Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro. Fiorot is southpaw, Blanchfield orthodox. Fiorot sticks out the jab early. Blanchfield throws a body kick, but takes a lefty counter upstairs. Fiorot changes levels, hoists Blanchfield into the air and slams her to the canvas. Blanchfield grabs a guillotine and it’s tight. Fiorot tries to get out of Blanchfield’s guard and to safety, and Blanchfield gets to her feet, still holding the choke. They fight out the position against the cage, Fiorot fighting the hands as Blanchfield tries to tighten the choke. Blanchfield finally gives up on the submission and they split and reset in the middle of the cage. Fiorot works with the jab again, keeping the shorter woman on the outside. Blanchfield throws a high kick that glances off the chest and arms of Fiorot. Blanchfield backs Fiorot up to the fence with a string of punches, then grabs a body lock and tries to take her down. She can’t get the takedown, and eats a sharp right hand on the break. The horn sounds.

Round 2
Blanchfield bounces into range, trying to get past Fiorot’s jab, but Fiorot is wise to it. Blanchfield throws a body kick that glances off the arms. Blanchfield steps in and uses a body lock and trip to take Fiorot down. She succeeds, but Fiorot uses muscle and balance to sweep her and land on top, then stands and makes Blanchfield follow. Fiorot lands a karate-style side kick to the lead leg of Blanchfield, stopping her forward progress. Blanchfield steps in and grabs another body lock, and again Fiorot just kind of muscles her away. Fiorot steps inside a punch to clinch, then throws a knee as they separate. Blanchfield is relentless in her forward movement, but Fiorot is doing a brilliant job so far of using jabs and low kicks to keep her outside, or collapsing the distance and clinching when she gets in. The horn sounds.

Round 3
Blanchfield swings her way into the pocket and lands a couple of punches. Fiorot makes some space between them and meets Blanchfield’s next entry with a downward low kick. Blanchfield shoves into the clinch, and Fiorot simply tosses her by, throwing her toward the fence. Blanchfield draws a jab out of Fiorot and counters with a nice straight. Blanchfield is finding some success landing her right hand over Fiorot’s left. Blanchfield charges in, and once again Fiorot just kind of flings her on her way. Blanchfield spins down to one knee before turning to re-engage. Blanchfield is bleeding from a small cut outside her left eye, though the blood is thankfully not running into the eye. Blanchfield clinches, and while Fiorot shucks her off, Blanchfield connects with a nice short right on the way out. Under a minute to go, and the Atlantic City crowd is audibly restive. Fiorot meets a Blanchfield charge with a hard knee up the middle. The horn sounds.

Round 4
The main event rounds open with Blanchfield again coming forward aggressively, swinging hooks with both hands. Again, Fiorot meets her calmly with the jab and leg kick. Blanchfield, perhaps knowing that she needs to do something big, throws caution to the wind, charging into the pocket and swinging away. Fiorot gives ground, her composure momentarily shaken, and Blanchfield lands a couple of solid punches. They clinch and Fiorot grabs a body lock, considers hoisting Blanchfield for another slam, but can’t complete it and they separate. Two minutes to go in the round and Blanchfield is still the aggressor, but Fiorot is back to managing the distance and keeping the shorter woman on the outside. With under 30 seconds to go, Fiorot catches Blanchfield coming in with a kick to the body, stopping her in her tracks. The 10-second clapper sounds, and neither woman lands anything of substance before the horn.

Fiorot enters the pocket and Fiorot shoves her with both hands, dropping her to her seat. Blanchfield is trying to walk Fiorot down, perhaps corral her against the fence, but Fiorot is wise to it and continues to dominate the distance battle. Fiorot’s lead left hook is finding the American’s head on the entry or exit from almost every exchange. Blanchfield marches forward, but Fiorot meets her with a one-two that snaps her head back. Blanchfield pushes through, clinches and shoves Fiorot into the cage with under a minute left. They disengage and Fiorot, far from sitting on her lead, throws a flying knee at the oncoming Blanchfield. Blanchfield misses with a high kick and Fiorot throws a spinning attack that ends in a collision. The final horn sounds.

Angelo picks Manon Fiorot but is not very confident. He cites Fiorot's striking power and 91% takedown defense, contrasting with Blanchfield's poor takedown attempts in her last fight. He worries that Blanchfield's toughness and forward pressure could trouble Fiorot. He notes underdogs have won 66% of main events in 2024.

Big Brady picks Manon Fiorot to win by decision, taking the underdog. He sees it as a close fight that likely goes the distance. He favors Fiorot in the striking early, but worries about Blanchfield's pressure and grappling later. He notes Blanchfield's takedown accuracy is low and Fiorot's takedown defense is elite. Brady expects a split decision where Fiorot does better work early.

Cody Saftic Expert Lean picked Mar 28, 2024 (2 days before fight)
Manon Fiorot

Cody sees Fiorot as a live underdog due to her takedown defense and counter-striking. He notes Blanchfield's recent struggles with takedowns (0 for 14 against Santos) and believes Fiorot can keep the fight standing and outpoint her. However, he admits it's more of a price play and not a high-confidence pick.

Manon Fiorot

Daniel Vreeland picks Manon Fiorot at plus money, stating he bet her at +170. He believes Fiorot is very disciplined, won't get carried away, and can frustrate Blanchfield by staying on the feet and using her movement. He notes that Fiorot has survived takedowns before (e.g., against Jennifer Maia) and that Blanchfield's wrestling isn't elite. He acknowledges Blanchfield's submission threat but thinks Fiorot can avoid being finished and win a decision.

"I did take that plus 170 on my known field row and to me it's just about playing it smart here"

Erin Blanchfield

James sees this as a 50/50 fight due to the unknowns of whether Blanchfield can get takedowns against Andrade. He notes Blanchfield's grappling is elite but her striking defense is poor, while Andrade has one-punch power and strong clinch work. He leans Blanchfield because of her youth and potential to get takedowns in later rounds, but is not confident. He mentions Blanchfield at +150 offers value.

"I do lean on the side that Aaron Blanchfield is actually going to shock some people here and that she will get some takedowns."

Manon Fiorot

Fiorot's takedown defense and movement are key; she has only been controlled for 1:40 in 77 minutes of UFC cage time. Blanchfield's takedown success has plummeted (2 of 22 in last 4 fights), and she gets hit often. Fiorot's lateral movement and ability to pivot off Blanchfield's entries should allow her to land straight shots and avoid prolonged grappling. The fight resembles Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman where the wrestler fails on takedowns and eats damage. Fiorot by decision is the most likely outcome, though the last two rounds could be close.

The host picks Erin Blanchfield to win by decision. He believes Blanchfield's takedown attempts and aggression will be key, especially in a five-round fight. He notes that Fiorot may struggle to stuff takedowns over five rounds and that Blanchfield is willing to shoot repeatedly. He also sees opportunities for Blanchfield to take Fiorot's back when Fiorot turns after combinations. He predicts a 49-46 decision, with Blanchfield losing one round.

Manon Fiorot vs. Rose Namajunas
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Fiorot (-185), Namajunas (+154)

Round 1
The bout that likely holds the greatest immediate title implications today comes in the co-main event, between two flyweights. Competing in MMA on French soil for the first time, Nice-born Fiorot (10-1, 5-0 UFC) hopes that a win over former champ Namajunas (11-5, 9-4 UFC) will propel her to the top of the weight class. On the other side of the equation, “Thug Rose” will be making her first jaunt to 125 pounds after multiple championship reigns down at strawweight. The size difference is not as significant as some might expect, and the women will have upwards of 15 minutes to state their case as elite members of the division. As referee Rich Mitchell stands by, the two ladies decide against bumping fists. Namajunas snaps out a quick right hand, and Fiorot responds with a left. Namajunas lands a low kick, and she pushes off with a side kick as Fiorot crowds her. Namajunas misses with a back fist, and Fiorot lands with a stern right hook. Fiorot stands fearlessly in front of her opponent, and she misses with a one-two and tries to catch her with a second. Namajunas slides to the side and sneak out a left hook. Fiorot catches Namajunas before the former champ can get off a combination, and she connects with a body shot when Namajunas closes the distance. Namajunas kicks low and shoots for a single, and the Frenchwoman tosses her aside with little effort. Fiorot keeps her range with a low kick and lunging jab, and her kicks are successfully keeping Namajunas at bay. Fiorot gets off a jab and a one-two, and Namajunas parries the latter. Namajunas beats Fiorot to the punch with a left hand, and she lands this same punch two more times. Namajunas kicks the lead leg, and Fiorot backs her off with short combinations of punches. Namajunas lands one kick and takes three punches off the top before she can reset. Namajunas manages to get in a single left, and Fiorot ignores it. Fiorot misses with a strike, and Namajunas slips her and connects cleanly with a left hand. As the former champ blocks a kick, she meanders forward and evades the other strikes with decent head movement. Namajunas drops down to her knees to snatch up a single, and Fiorot shuts it down and gets away. Fiorot lands cleanly with a left hand on the nose, and she bats Namajunas away with a side kick. The round ends with Fiorot jabbing.

Round 2
Between rounds, Namajunas informs her corner that she broke her right pink finger, and partner Pat Barry says “that’s alright, you don’t need her finger.” Namajunas is not discouraged despite the potential injury, and she is ready to resume action. Namajunas gets in Fiorot’s face early with a flurry of punches, and Fiorot stays composed and does not take many strikes cleanly. Fiorot boxes Namajunas up with a few shots ending with a short right hook, and two punches send Namajunas off-balance. Namajunas topples over, and she climbs to her knees and up as Fiorot rushes at her. Namajunas fights her way out of the clinch, only to absorb a flush knee to the body. Namajunas swipes out with a left, and her strikes do not have near the impact compared to her opponent’s – and the size difference does appear to be widening the competitive gap between the two. Fiorot takes a hook kick on the nose, and she leans back to dodge a subsequent spinning wheel kick in the nick of time. Fiorot spams punches, and Namajunas evades every single one and comes back with a right hand over the top. Fiorot times a head kick as Namajunas comes in on her, and Namajunas is able to respond with a huge right hand that shakes Fiorot up at the same time Fiorot tosses a side kick. Namajunas uses the moment to pursue a takedown, but Fiorot outmuscles her and keeps herself upright before breaking free. Namajunas lands a right hand on the break, and she holds her guard high to defend against a kick. Both women swing at the same time and duck down, and their heads clack together as a sizeable cut opens on Fiorot’s right temple. Fiorot pays it no mind and tells Mitchell she is fine, and the blood flow is not presenting any issues. Namajunas times a left hand on that target, and she gets pushed back from a side kick. Fiorot sweeps the leg, and she absorbs a good right hand on the way out. Namajunas scores a short left, but Fiorot lands two back at her. Namajunas swings hard, and she does land a left hook, only for Fiorot to completely ignore it as the round ends.

Round 3
There is no plan on a glove touch to start the last round, and instead Namajunas is ready to go to battle and try to pull off a comeback. Namajunas lets go with a head kick and shoots for a single, and Fiorot blocks the former and stuffs the latter. Namajunas resets and chops at the lead leg, and she darts forward with a pair of punches that whiz past the Frenchwoman. Namajunas whips a left hand over the top, and she lands another before changing levels. Fiorot will not allow herself to be taken down, and she bucks out of the posture and gets back to kickboxing range. Fiorot gets off a stomp kick to the knee, and Namajunas rushes at her opponent only to miss wide. Namajunas sticks Fiorot during an exchange, and Fiorot retaliates with a trio of punches. Fiorot comes up just short when trying to counter a leg kick, and she absorbs a flush right hand but keeps on moving. The former champ scores a right hand, but it is one-and-done as Fiorot is well away from any strikes that could possibly follow. Fiorot snipes with her jab and swiping right hook, using it to stop Namajunas from getting on the inside. Namajunas chases after Fiorot, and they trade head kicks – Fiorot’s lands much harder. Namajunas tries to cut off the cage, but Fiorot is elusive and her timing is erratic enough to not let Namajunas track her down. Namajunas dings her foe with three left hooks, and Fiorot slips but gathers herself and leans back against the wall instead of falling down. Namajunas looks for a few strikes, and Fiorot breaks off and escapes. Namajunas continues her pursuit, and Fiorot gets out of danger and watches a spin kick soar past her as time elapses.

Angelo is confident Manon Fiorot dominates, citing her size, power, and volume. He notes Rose Namajunas is moving up in weight and lacks volume compared to Manon. He points out Manon has landed more strikes in each of her last five wins than Rose did in five-round fights. He has parlayed Manon with Ange Loosa.

Big Brady picks Fiorot, citing her size, strength, power, and volume advantage over the smaller Namajunas moving up from strawweight. He doubts Rose can outgrapple, outvolume, or knock out Fiorot. He expects Fiorot to win a decision, though he acknowledges Rose's striking talent and calls it an interesting test.

Manon Fiorot

Cody picks Fiorot due to size and strength advantages at flyweight, and questions Rose's motivation after a lackluster performance against Esparza. He notes Rose's striking advantages were not used in that fight and she has been off for a year. Fiorot's kicking game and French crowd support are key factors. Cody sees Rose's offensive wrestling as a potential path but doubts she can take down or hold down a strong flyweight.

Daniel Levi Expert Confident picked Aug 31, 2023 (2 days before fight)
Manon Fiorot

Daniel Levi picks Manon Fiorot, arguing that Fiorot's elusive, outside-fighting style will frustrate Rose Namajunas, who thrives in pocket boxing exchanges. He believes Fiorot will use sidekicks and movement to keep Rose at range, preventing her from letting her hands go. Levi dismisses the size narrative, stating that Fiorot is not a pressure grappler so the weight class difference is irrelevant. He expects a clear 30-27 decision, noting that Fiorot has a history of outpointing tough opponents like Mayra Bueno Silva.

Manon Fiorot

I'm leaning with Fiorot here. She has great takedown defense and a dynamic striking style with power and volume. Rose is a wild card mentally and may struggle with the weight cut to flyweight. Fiorot's footwork and ability to stay at distance should allow her to land significant strikes. However, I don't have a boatload of confidence because Rose has the experience advantage and could potentially get takedowns if she closes the distance. I think Fiorot wins by decision.

Paul thinks Rose's offensive wrestling could be a factor but that Fiorot's takedown defense and submission defense are solid. He expects a striking affair where Fiorot's speed and kicking game prevail, likely by decision (29-28 or 30-27).

He notes that Cerminara has struggled against good athletes who can get to her, and Fiorot's strength and reach will pose problems. Manon Fiorot vs. Jennifer Maia

Round 1
Second verse, same as the first: the previous fight featured flyweights that drew unexpectedly low card placement given their relative place in their division, and the same can be said between the no. 4 Maia (19-8-1, 4-4 UFC) and the 13th ranked female flyweight known as “The Beast” Fiorot (8-1, 3-0 UFC). Drawing the charge for this interesting style matchup is referee Herb Dean, who gets a huge pop from the crowd. Dean who will know before anyone else whether Maia holds the line or if Fiorot can crash through to the top five. There is no glove touch, and instead the Frenchwoman wants to start striking, with side kicks to the lead leg. Maia replies with a straight left hand, and they both throw hands at the same time. Fiorot’s hands are faster, and her intercepting kicks are effective when Maia comes forward. Fiorot scores a few more kicks as Maia bears down on her, and she scores two or three punches before Maia can reach her. Maia is not deterred, as she continues to walk through body kicks to swing with heavy punches. Fiorot tags her opponent with a straight right hand, and she breaks it up with punches to the body as Maia looks to almost exclusively box with her. Fiorot lets Maia come at her so she can counter quickly and slip away to score kicks on the outside. “The Beast” lets go with a head kick, and Maia shrugs it off to score with a big left hand. Fiorot is forced to shake it off, and Maia lands another on the chin. Fiorot preemptively counters an advancing Maia with a left hook a few times, and she is doing damage to Maia’s lead leg as well with sharp kicks. The punches from the French kickboxer have opened up the nose of her foe, and Maia rushes ahead to try to tie her up. When Fiorot turns her around, Maia wings a quick elbow that gets Fiorot’s attention. Fiorot responds with a thudding body kick, and Maia tries to pay her back with an overhand right but is just out of reach. Fiorot slips the blow and dings her with a left hand, and Maia greets her with a right hand counter. Maia takes a leg kick so that she can swarm ahead, and she goes up high with a kick that stings Fiorot. The Frenchwoman threatens with a takedown, and Maia turns her around with ease until Fiorot pushes off. Fiorot scores a side kick to the midsection, and she lands a clean left hand right before the bell.

Round 2
The round begins with Maia coming out aggressively. Fiorot catches her coming in with a kick to the body, but she cannot slow her as Maia tags her with a couple punches. Suddenly, Fiorot changes levels and hits a clean takedown right in the middle of the cage, putting the Brazilian on her back. Maia sits up and threatens to sweep, and Fiorot hacks at her with elbows to make her sit back down. Maia keeps a high guard, keeping Fiorot honest with a triangle setup. Fiorot sits up and has her leg snagged by Maia, who latches on to an ankle lock. Fiorot rushes to get back to her feet, and Maia goes right after her hips to hit a takedown of her own. As she looks to set up some sort of submission, Fiorot tosses her around and sets Maia on her back. Fiorot appears much more cautious this time in Maia’s guard, not willing to sit up and put herself in submission danger. Instead, Fiorot springs back up to her feet, not interested in playing the ground game anymore. Maia follows her back upright, and Fiorot gets off several kicks to the body. Maia cannot reach her as Fiorot snipes her from afar, and the Frenchwoman catches Maia on the way in and dumps her to the mat. Maia scrambles to get back up and boots Fiorot in the head, and Fiorot is in big trouble as she adjusts her top and tries to get her legs about her. Maia goes after another high kick, and Fiorot blocks it and is still trying to shake out the cobwebs. Maia gives chase, whiffing on another head kick and walking face-first into a punch. Maia comes up short on a Superwoman punch, and Fiorot circles away until the horn sounds.

Round 3
The third round begins with Maia once more pressing the action, and she tries to engage in a brawl as Fiorot wants to stay on the outside with side kicks to the body. Fiorot looks to keep her distance, but Maia will not have it, pushing the pace and clinching her up. Maia cannot keep her tied up for long, and Fiorot returns to her preferred range with long, prodding kicks. The Brazilian continuously comes forward, only to absorb kicks to the body and legs. Maia starts to work on Fiorot’s lead leg, and Fiorot plants her feet to go after a hook kick. Maia blocks it and sprints ahead to go after a body lock takedown, and although she hits it, Fiorot spins her around and rolls through to stand back up. Maia advances without cutting her opponent off, absorbing kicks flush without being able to answer back. Fiorot jumps forward with a knee that slams into Maia’s guard, and Maia rubs her nose and marches onward. Maia takes a punch on the chin so that she can set up a thudding body kick, and Fiorot replies in kind with a side kick to the torso. Maia walks right into a kick to her chest, and she completely ignores it and brushes past a crescent kick in order to tie up the Frenchwoman. Maia goes to clinch, and Fiorot pushes away. Maia attacks with a high kick when Fiorot goes low, and Maia kicks the body and slips back when Fiorot spins with a kick. Maia hears the 10-second clapper and begins to bull-rush her adversary, throwing hands right until the bitter end.

Angelo picks Manon Fiorot, citing her nasty striking, killer instinct, and finishing power. He notes that Jennifer Maia's 33% takedown accuracy and only two takedowns in eight UFC fights won't be enough to get her out of danger against Fiorot's striking. He acknowledges Maia's experience and well-roundedness but believes Fiorot's striking differential and ability to work back to her feet make the difference.

Manon Fiorot vs. Mayra Bueno Silva

Round 1
A pair of flyweights with seven wins and one defeat but vastly different styles will meet in the Octagon next, when the surging French striker Fiorot (7-1, 2-0 UFC) battles Brazilian submission specialist Silva (16-2-1, 4-1 UFC). High 86% finish rates for each woman will be tested as they get ready for battle, and referee Chris Tognoni could have his hands full in this 125-pound tilt. There is no glove touch to get things started, and instead, Fiorot begins with a leg kick. Silva returns fire with a body kick and a right hand, and she is warned for her outstretched fingers already. Silva looks to sweep the leg, but the Frenchwoman is out of the way and jumps in with a solid one-two. Silva continues to miss with low leg kicks, and Fiorot drills her in the midsection with a side kick. A few punches get through from Fiorot, who side kicks the body, strings a few more punches together and once more kicks the body with a strike from traditional martial arts. Silva has a loud calf kick get off, and Fiorot kiais and connects with four or five punches. Silva puts her hands up to shrug after she blocks strikes, which allows Fiorot to kick her in the side. Fiorot connects with another such kick, and Silva again motions that it did not hurt. The showboating does not stop Fiorot from landing cleanly on her, and Silva’s offense is limited to single leg strikes. Fiorot hops out of the way from one and lands a few punches, with a side kick to end it that sends Silva flying to the ground. Silva climbs back up and high-fives her opponent for the strike. Fiorot has a few punches and a side kick get through, with this side kick to the body her most effective strike. Silva loads up on a body kick of her own, but Fiorot is there to keep her fists in her foe’s face. Silva gives chase, but Fiorot’s combinations keep her guessing and slow her down. Silva has a body and then head kick get through and up, and she gets chewed up with a few punches that have marked the top of her face up. The Brazilian continues to signal that the strikes mean nothing to her, but Fiorot’s volume is adding up quickly while Silva is content to throw single strikes. As Silva swipes at her opponent, the Frenchwoman changes things up entirely by hitting a clean takedown and putting Silva flat on her back. As Fiorot lands ground-and-pound, Silva attacks an armbar and then a kneebar. The subsequent submission try trips Fiorot up so that she falls to the ground, and Silva lords over her with a few leg kicks before the round ends.

Round 2
While Silva marches out to start the round, Fiorot lands first and often. Seven punches connect for the Frenchwoman before Silva is able to respond. As she chains punches together, Fiorot dives in for a takedown. Silva is able to stuff it and stand back up, and they press up against one another in the clinch. As Fiorot grinds, her shoulder lifts the top up of the Brazilian, and Tognoni is right there to stop the action briefly to allow her to reset it before any inadvertent exposures occur. Fiorot ties up the leg and tries to trip her foe down, but bails on it to knee the thigh a few times. Tognoni asks them to stay busy as they are stuck against the fence, and before long, he intervenes to separate them. Fiorot is quick to thank Tognoni for this split by landing several punches. Silva connects back and marks Fiorot’s face up, and she signals that she has Fiorot stung. Fiorot returns fire with punches and side kicks, and Silva is loading up on counter strikes. A faked side kick allows Fiorot to go over the top with punches, as she mixes things up and lands mostly on the guard of her foe. Silva gets off a right hand that makes Fiorot grimace, and Fiorot grabs hold of her to knee before backing off to get back to combination striking. The power of Silva is far in her favor, but she lands few and far between while Fiorot is beating her to the punch early and often. Silva puts her hands behind her back to signal that Fiorot’s shots mean nothing to her, and Fiorot does not buy in and keeps to her gameplan of punches up top and side kicks to the breadbasket. Every strike from Fiorot is bolstered by a kiai, furthering the impact and emphasis of the blows, and Silva again mocks her by putting her hands behind her back. Fiorot kicks her in the chest, and the punches from the Frenchwoman have also marked Silva’s face up. There is no single punch thrown from Fiorot, and instead three or four each time. Fiorot circles on the outside and gets a head kick up that knocks Silva back and surprises her. Fiorot keeps kicking the body, and Silva rocks her with a right hand suddenly. Right before the bell, the Brazilian looks to finish the job with a head kick, but it goes over the head and brushes the hair to conclude the second frame.

Round 3
The two flyweights meet in the middle, and a pair of one-twos come from Fiorot to begin. Fiorot chains a side kick to a left hand into a single leg takedown try. Silva looks to latch on to her, but she bails on it to kick the rear leg and wobble Fiorot’s legs. Another leg kick flusters Fiorot, and Silva marches forward with a head kick to follow. Fiorot connects to the body with yet another unanswered, unblocked sidekick, and she strings a few punches into a double leg try. The Frenchwoman lifts Silva up in the air and slams her hard on the mat, where she immediately claims half guard out of most submission danger. Fiorot delivers a few punches and elbows that bloody the nose up of the Brazilian, and she steps over to side control as she rains down punches. A few shots land to the back of the head, and she is warned for these and adjusts when Silva rolls to her back. Silva scores a powerful upkick that dislodges Fiorot’s mouthpiece, and her gumshield gets stuck between the corner of the floor and the fence, taking a few seconds to recover it. When they resume, Fiorot is ready for battle, as she lands punches and a flying knee while Silva wags her tongue at her. As the Brazilian continues to showboat instead of throw effective offense, Fiorot’s striking numbers are racking up as are her takedown attempts. The Frenchwoman leans heavily into Silva on the wire, while Silva’s nose leaks blood on her foe’s blonde locks. Silva tries to explode out of the position, or even turn her opponent around, but instead relies on Tognoni to split them up with 50 seconds to go. Three punches and a side kick come from Fiorot, but Silva catches her foe and jumps in the air with a knee to the chin. Fiorot eats it like a baguette and continues to lay into Silva with punch combinations, all while Silva recklessly walks her down. Silva has an angry look on her face while blood trickles down it, and Fiorot stays on her bike, sticks and moves and lands without issue. This continues right to the final bell, putting an end to a relatively one-sided bout for "The Beast" that will likely see a massive strike total discrepancy.

Manon Fiorot vs. Tabatha Ricci

Round 1
The first women’s match of the night takes place in the flyweight division, as French powerhouse Fiorot (6-1, 1-0 UFC) meets Brazilian newcomer Ricci (5-0, 0-0 UFC). Referee Herb Dean will take charge of this 125-pound contest, and the ladies do not touch gloves before coming out swinging. Fiorot opens up with a side kick that pushes Ricci back, and she uses another that catches the Brazilian unaware. Fiorot continues to walk Ricci down, and she kicks high and low as she looks a weight class larger than her opponent. Fiorot takes advantage of her size by landing more side kicks and punches, and Ricci tries to fire back but her strikes are far less impactful. Ricci uses jabs to keep her distance, and Fiorot marches forward with a pair of looping right hands. Ricci’s counters are all inaccurate, and a potential takedown attempt is shoved away with ease. “The Beast” rages with kicks to the legs and head, and Ricci is forced to charge forward to break these up, where she scores a single right hand. Fiorot chows down on it like a baguette and strides forward to land a swarm of punches and a knee up the middle. Fiorot splits the guard with a left hand, and Ricci gathers herself and slings a right hand that catches Fiorot flush. Fiorot scores a few punches and a kick to the knee, and she chains a few punches together to knock Ricci back. “Baby Shark” swims forward to consider a takedown, but she is easily rebuffed as Fiorot tees off on her. Ricci tries to keep her at bay with punches buoyed by kiais, but Fiorot’s are louder and her strikes are heavier. Two big punches from Fiorot surprise Ricci, and she slips as she rushes forward and gets countered to the body. Fiorot shakes it off and lands a stern left hand right before the bell.

Round 2
The Frenchwoman comes out of her corner possessed, landing a few side kicks and heavy punches as Ricci throws wildly in response. Fiorot plants the ball of her foot on Ricci’s body, and she pushes forward to take the fight down. Ricci breaks free and pushes off, where she takes a few jabs in the face when backing off. A few punches from “The Beast” score directly, and she has found the mark and is teeing off on Ricci. Ricci stays tough, blocking the heaviest kicks and backs out of danger before any of the biggest shots connect flush. Fiorot stings her foe with a left hand, and she continues wading forward with punches and a few elbows when Ricci is on the fence. Fiorot turns up the heat as she lands strikes, and Ricci tries and fails with a takedown.
Fiorot clubs Ricci with several ferocious punches, making the newcomer stumble to the ground in dire straits. Fiorot does not let her off the hook, holding on tight and blasting Ricci again and again while Dean keeps a close eye on the action. Ricci works her way up, but she takes a short, final barrage of punches to give Dean cause to stop the fight.
With this drubbing, Fiorot becomes the first woman to defeat Ricci.

Daniel Levi Expert Confident picked Jun 3, 2021 (2 days before fight)
Manon Fiorot

Daniel picks Fiorot to win by knockout, specifically a body kick knockout. He notes that Fiorot is much bigger (5'7" vs 5'1"), physical, has nasty kicks, and improving takedown defense. He believes Ricci is too small and that Fiorot will be able to keep the fight standing and land her strikes. Daniel is confident Fiorot will steamroll Ricci and get a finish.

Manon Fiorot

The Guru picks Manon Fiorot, praising her striking and grappling. He notes she has finishes in later rounds, which he finds impressive for a French fighter. He believes she is arguably undefeated (he thought she beat Leah McCourt). He predicts a TKO in round 1 or 2 against Marina Moroz (note: transcript says 'marina marazz' but likely refers to Tabatha Ricci's opponent; however, the fight is Fiorot vs Ricci, so the pick is for Fiorot).
