Jaqueline Amorim vs. Loma Lookboonmee
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Amorim (-120); Lookboonmee (+105)

Round 1
Lookboonmee (10-4; 7-3 UFC) and Amorim (10-2; 4-2 UFC) go to work in matching orthodox stances under the watchful eye of referee Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro. The Brazilian walks the foe to the fence, where she closes the distance in a hurry and takes underhooks, looking to drag the muay thai standout to the canvas. Lookboonmee is wise to it, however, and refuses to be taken down, then spinning Amorim against the cage. Amorim turns, nearly turning her back all the way to her opponent, before hauling her down with a brief kneebar attempt. She can’t get it, but ends up on top in the ensuing scramble. A little past the halfway point of the round, Amorim slides into side control at the base of the fence. Lookboonmee fights off a kimura attempt, but Amorim keeps the two-on-one and isolates Lookboonmee’s left arm in an armbar.
Lookboonmee is gritty, and Amorim is forced to adjust the angle twice before Lookboonmee finally taps.
Referee “Shaolin” is there in a flash to prevent any needless damage, and Jaqueline Amorim has kicked things off in Macau with a slick first-round submission.

AJ DeVito Expert Lean pick date unknown
Loma Lookboonmee

AJ favors Lookboonmee because she is more proven to come back from adversity and push a pace. He notes Amorim's jiu-jitsu is very good but she tends to fall apart as fights go on, with sloppy wrestling and nonexistent striking when fatigued. Lookboonmee has a legitimate Muay Thai skillset and is defensively sound against grappling, though AJ acknowledges she could end up in bad spots. He ultimately leans Lookboonmee to win two out of three rounds via striking and defensive wrestling.

Decision for Lookboonmee at +125; fight goes over 2.5 rounds at -185; Amorim submission at +275
"I'm going to go towards Lookboome cuz she's more proven to be able to come back from some adversity, dig deep, and push a pace, but I'm not overly confident in it."

AJ DeVito Expert Confident pick date unknown
Loma Lookboonmee

AJ picks Lookboonmee because Amorim has elite grappling but poor cardio and loses decisions when she can't submit. Lookboonmee has good takedown defense (68%), superior striking, and cardio to outwork Amorim in rounds 2 and 3. He expects a decision win for Lookboonmee, noting she is a decision merchant and Amorim fades late.

over 2.5 rounds (if available), Loma Lookboonmee wins by decision

AJ picks Loma Lookboonmee as an underdog, citing her defensive grappling and proven cardio. He notes that Amorim gasses after round one and has poor striking, while Lookboonmee is a decision merchant with eight decision wins. AJ expects Lookboonmee to survive early grappling threats and take over in rounds two and three, winning a decision.

Angelo Bodetti Expert Lean pick date unknown
Loma Lookboonmee

Angelo leans toward Loma Lookboonmee, noting that Jaqueline Amorim is 'sub or bust' and has poor takedowns. He believes Loma can avoid the ground and use her Muay Thai to win a decision, but he is not confident in either fighter scoring well for DraftKings.

Loma Lookboonmee

Angelo picks Loma Lookboonmee despite her size disadvantage, trusting her submission defense and overall skill. He notes that Loma is tiny but tough and well-rounded, and if she can defend the first few takedowns, she can frustrate Amorim and win a decision. He acknowledges the risk of being taken down and submitted, but believes Loma is the better fighter skill-for-skill.

Jaqueline Amorim

Big Brady picks Jaqueline Amorim by first-round submission, citing her world-class jiu-jitsu and ability to submit black belts. He notes her cardio and striking are poor, but believes she has 5-7 minutes to find a submission before gassing. He thinks Lookboonmee is too small and will be taken down and put in bad spots early.

Cody Saftic Expert Lean pick date unknown
Jaqueline Amorim

Cody picks Amorim, citing her wrestling and BJJ advantage. He notes that Lookboonmee is a Thai fighter who may be past her prime and has been taken down frequently. Amorim's path is to get takedowns and control position. Cody admits this is his least confident play on the card, as Lookboonmee could keep it standing and out-strike her.

Amorim by decision or submission; fight goes to decision

Connor Ruebusch Expert Confident pick date unknown
Jaqueline Amorim

Connor picks Jaqueline Amorim because Loma's style exposes her to takedowns, and she knows enough grappling to get in trouble but not enough to beat a grappler like Amorim. Amorim got tired against Inoue, but Loma lacks the size and scrambling threat to steal the fight late.

"Amorim is the pick."
JA
Jacob Lines Expert Confident pick date unknown
Loma Lookboonmee

Jacob picks Loma because Jaqueline has shown she cannot maintain her pace beyond the first round against competent fighters. He notes that Loma trains at Bangta with the Hickman brothers and knows jiu-jitsu, so even if taken down, she can stay safe. He also mentions that Loma has offensive wrestling and nasty Muay Thai.

"I'm a fan of Loma Luke Boommy, but Jacquelini every time she's fought an actual like competent fighter. She's looked horrible."
LU
Lucrative James Expert Confident pick date unknown
Jaqueline Amorim

Lucrative James picks Jaqueline Amorim, citing her superior BJJ and grappling, which should exploit Loma Lookboonmee's mistakes on the ground. He notes Loma is a Muay Thai striker but makes too many grappling errors, and Amorim's black belt level should lead to a submission. He acknowledges Amorim's poor last performance but believes she has the style to win.

Loma Lookboonmee

The host leans with Lookboonmee, believing she can stop Amorim's takedowns and keep the fight in the striking realm. He notes Lookboonmee's improved grappling defense and Muay Thai clinch work, while Amorim's wrestling is still developing. He expects Lookboonmee to land more damage en route to a decision victory.

"I find myself leaning with the Luke Buni side here as I believe that she'll be able to stop the takedowns of Amarim."

Loma Lookboonmee

Paul picks Lookboonmee, noting her speed and striking advantage. He believes she can stay on the back foot and out-land Amorim in a greasy decision. However, he acknowledges that if Amorim gets takedowns, she could win. Paul is not confident and does not plan to bet this fight.

The MMA Guru Expert Confident pick date unknown
Loma Lookboonmee

The Guru favors Loma Lookboonmee due to her elite Muay Thai striking and ability to manage distance. He believes Loma's takedown defense will neutralize Jaqueline's grappling, and that Loma's volume and sharp striking will win her a decision. He notes Jaqueline's struggles when she can't get takedowns, as seen in her loss to Sam Hughes.

"I'm going to side with Loma Lookboonmee in this matchup."
TH
The MMA Guru Expert Hesitant pick date unknown
Loma Lookboonmee

The MMA Guru is leaning towards Loma Lookboonmee but is not confident. He notes that Lookboonmee hasn't faced many grapplers in the UFC, while Amorim is an elite BJJ world champion. However, he believes Lookboonmee's takedown defense is decent and she can keep the fight standing, where she is the much better technical striker with high volume Muay Thai. He acknowledges Amorim could submit her if she gets the fight to the ground, but he's not sure Amorim can do that.

"I am actually leaning towards Lomalook Boommy in this matchup. But I am so not confident in this fight."
TH
The MMA Guru Expert Hesitant pick date unknown
Jaqueline Amorim

The Guru sees this as a striker vs grappler matchup. He believes Amorim's path is to close distance with wild power shots and get takedowns, where she has solid grappling and submission threats. He notes Loma's striking and clinch are good but she may struggle to keep range, and Amorim's takedowns could be enough. However, he admits this was the hardest fight to pick and it could go either way.

"I'm going to take Amarine, but this is the fight that took me the longest to make a prediction."

Zane Simon Expert Confident pick date unknown
Jaqueline Amorim

Zane picks Jaqueline Amorim because she is a serious jiu-jitsu player who can dominate on the mat. Loma's wrestling improvements may put her in worse positions, and she lacks power to keep Amorim scared. Zane notes the odds have moved closer but feels the opener was more accurate.

Odds mentioned: Amorim -130, Loma +110; Zane thinks opener (-250) was more accurate
"Jaqueline Amorim opened around -250 and is currently around -130. I am not sure why those odds got so much closer; the opener felt more accurate."

Konklak Suphisara vs. Alexia Thainara
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Thainara (-240); Suphisara (+200)

Round 1
Kerfuffle after kerfuffle led to this event that at one time had what would have been a record 17 books saw the tally plummet to 12 on fight night. The losses include both Tafa brothers, so fans will have just one big-man battle tonight—and for a time, it was the first bout of the evening. Instead, due to reshuffling, the curtain jerker comes at 115 pounds. Suphisara (10-3, 7-2 UFC), the birth name of the Thai fighter known as “Loma Lookboonmee,” shall be called her combat name for the remainder of this write-up. As for her opponent, she takes on the surging Brazilian Thainara (12-1, 1-0 UFC), whose wrangling of Molly McCann was so meaningful that “Meatball” hung up her gloves—for now. Referee Matt Wynne will take charge of the first bout of the morning, as it is 7 a.m. locally in Perth today. The ladies rub the sleep out of their eyes during the announcements and clap hands to signal that they are ready to punch one another in the face repeatedly.
Thainara is the immediate aggressor, stalking the Thai down and ultimately walking into a leg kick and an elbow. Thainara fires back, but Lookboonmee stands her ground and pops her with a one-two and a body kick. The Brazilian comes up short on her own one-two as she circles around to try to find an angle in, and Lookboonmee is evasive as can be and ready to counter. Thainara catches her with a right hand down the pipe, and she uses the strike to surge forward and press into a clinch. The takedown effort from her fails almost before it materializes, and Lookboonmee thanks her for her push by getting a tiny amount of space and booting Thainara upside the head with her shin. Thainara shakes it off and lines up single strikes down the middle, with her kicks largely inaccurate. Lookboonmee steps in with an elbow, and Thainara gives her a look like, “We’re throwing elbow stuff now” and fires off a spinning back kick. When Lookboonmee bounces off the cage wall, Thainara rushes after her to pursue a takedown.
On a redoubled effort, the Brazilian secures a trip takedown and bowls Lookboonmee to the mat, where she lands in half guard and goes right to smacking Lookboonmee around with short ground strikes. Lookboonmee looks to cling to her foe, and she turns to a side to stand while still being close enough to her foe to not get caught with something. The Thai works to her feet with Thainara still clinging to her. Using sheer horsepower, Thainara shrugs off a flush elbow and wrenches Lookboonmee off her feet and drags her to the mat, where she opens up with offense. Bludgeoning Lookboonmee with offense, she finds an opening and grips hold of a can opener on the back of the Thai’s neck. Lookboonmee is uncomfortable but survives it, so Thainara transitions to nasty 12-to-6 elbows to complete the round.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Thainara
Devin Tejada scores the round: 10-9 Thainara
Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-9 Thainara

Round 2
Lookboonmee opens up by using distance strikes, keeping the Brazilian off of her. Thainara answers her with her own offering of kickboxing moves including a quick side kick, and she transitions her way forward to tackle Lookboonmee to the floor. Thainara smoothly completes the takedown and gets on top, where her offense gets going in a hurry. Lookboonmee forces her way to her feet under fire, and Thainara imposes her weight against her on the fencing until Lookboonmee shoves her back. They trade body kicks, and the Thai’s lands far more emphatically. Thainara pays it no mind and opens up with a one-two to wing a spinning back kick. Lookboonmee answers with another kick only for Thainara to crash the pocket and go for a takedown. When Lookboonmee appears to turn the tables on her and land on top, Thainara keeps the action moving and flips the Thai to her back.
Thainara, in half guard, puts Lookboonmee flat on her back as she starts driving down punches and the occasional elbow. The action slows down as Thainara slowly but methodically works offense, and sporadic boos from the few in the building at 7 am—again, this is a morning card locally for Aussies—until Thainara starts putting more mustard into her blows. This prompts Lookboonmee to give up her back so she can work to her feet, and she succeeds in putting her back to the fence as Thainara busts the nose open from her big swings. Thainara clings to her opponent like mean-spirited Saran Wrap, working her over with her fists and sharp elbows. With seconds to spare, Lookboonmee gets space and starts brawling, and Thainara not only welcomes it but puts her hands in the air to celebrate that she got caught and also hit back hard. The horn sounds.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Thainara
Devin Tejada scores the round: 10-9 Thainara
Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-9 Thainara

Round 3
Lookboonmee strikes first with a body kick, and Thainara immediately snatches it out of the air and bullies her to the wall. The ensuing scramble from a trip effort actually allows Lookboonmee to get her foe to the floor, and Thainara pops back up and tries to implement her own grappling. When clinched, Thainara peppers the Thai with knees to the thigh, foot stomps and surprisingly effective short kicks to the shin. The power advantage for the Brazilian allows her to maintain these positions for prolonged stretches, where she nullifies most of what Lookboonmee can offer. Thainara elects to back off, and she has her hands high to guard a head kick she knows is coming. When Lookboonmee plants her foot back down, she connects with a solid elbow. This spurs Thainara into a clinch push, where she stalls out Lookboonmee as she calmly works her over.
Lookboonmee again gets some space and the two start trading body kicks in a lower-intensity version of Frank Dux vs. Paco in “Bloodsport.” One seemingly effective kick gets through from the Thai, and Thainara grits her teeth and races forward to tie Lookboonmee up. Thainara loops a hook in and knees Lookboonmee in the face while pressed on the cage, and Wynne wants more from the strawweights. Lookboonmee clings to Thainara’s wrist to keep her trapped, and Thainara pushes off the fence with her foot to pull the Thai to the floor in an unorthodox but extremely effective takedown directly into back control. After a few seconds, Lookboonmee is able to muscle her way to the side to get to a 50-50 position, and Thainara threatens with a calf slicer. The two separate, and Lookboonmee sprints at her adversary and throws everything and the kitchen sink at her. Thainara laughs and sticks her tongue out, and she backs away until time expires. Expecting to get her hand raised in a moment, Thainara celebrates by flopping onto her stomach in the center of the Octagon and posing like a Glamour Shot model. That’s one way to start off the morning.

He is more confident in Thainara than in Navajo Stirling, despite Loma being a better fighter than Bellato.

Round 1
One more matchup on the card will play out in the 115-pound category, and it comes between Thai striker Suphisara (9-3, 6-2 UFC)—who will be referred to as “Loma Lookboonmee,” or just Lookboonmee, going forward—and Brazilian Nunes (6-5, 1 NC; 0-4 UFC), a muay thai aficionado in her own right. Referee Chris Tognoni signals the start of the match, and the women answer his call by touching gloves first. Lookboonmee leads off with a kick that slaps under the armpit, and when Nunes returns fire, Lookboonmee is ready to chuck one more kick at her. Lookboonmee chips at the lead leg, staying able to bounce back and forth to slide in and out of range. Nunes kicks at her, and Lookboonmee jams her in the gut with a kick. Lookboonmee pushes off the chest with the ball of her foot, and continues to probe with kicks until she wraps one up around the neck. Nunes comes back firing, but the Thai is able to out-speed her 90 seconds into the match. While Nunes is keeping it honest and trying to mirror Lookboonmee’s activity, she looks for power as she sits down on a right hand that the Thai just dodges. Lookboonmee pushes off, and her finger may or may not have scraped the eye. The replay called by Tognoni is not clear, so they get back to fighting. They proceed to trade kicks one after the other, strike totals fairly close with Lookboonmee likely having the edge. She scores kicks from both legs, and her strikes are taking Nunes’ fists almost entirely out of the equation. The Brazilian whiffs on a big right hand, and they crash together in an exchange. Nunes kicks low and Lookboonmee belts the body a few times with her shin to audible effective. A third is even lower, and she puts out a one-two to further stick it to her opponent. Lookboonmee catches a kick and looks for a takedown, and Nunes easily pushes her over and climbs into top position. The Thai looks for a sweep when stuck on her back, as Nunes is more interested in controlling for the moment. Lookboonmee is warning for striking the back of the head, and she pushes the Brazilian off of her. Judges might have their hands full with that round.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Lookboonmee
Scottie Smith scores the round: 10-9 Lookboonmee
Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-9 Lookboonmee

Round 2
The strawweights clap hands to re-engage, and they stand right in kickboxing range and let their hands and feet go. Lookboonmee strikes first, last and heavier, but Nunes gets off her own shots. The second and third of a trio of front kicks from Nunes push Lookboonmee away each time Lookboonmee advances. The Thai hammers a low kick and ducks down when Nunes swings at her, standing up as the top of her head bangs into Nunes’ chin with no warning or protest. Nunes tries to wrap her opponent up and leverage her down, and the result is a prolonged clinch. Nunes grabs the cage wall several times, and Tognoni reaches around repeatedly to slap Nunes’ hand. If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin. The successful Dundasso allows Nunes to suddenly surprise her adversary by dropping for a heel hook. Lookboonmee busts her in the chops with one right hand to get out of the submission, and Nunes adjusts and shifts the limb to the other side for an inverted heel hook setup. Lookboonmee stays calm as a cucumber while in this ankle lock-type position, as Nunes does not have the right angle or leverage to complete it. Nunes squeezes hard on the foot, and Lookboonmee stacks her up and places herself in the lion’s mouth as Nunes sits up to hunt for a kneebar. Nunes chains the kneebar to a heel hook, and the Thai sits up and stands. Nunes keeps a grip on the ankle, and Lookboonmee punches her a few times before the bell sounds.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Lookboonmee
Scottie Smith scores the round: 10-9 Lookboonmee
Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-9 Lookboonmee

Round 3
The ladies bump fists to get going, and they get back to action with striking. It does not take Nunes long to try to take the fight down, and eventually in search of what would be her first career submission. The Thai looks to counter Nunes, and she hits a trip to put Nunes on her back. The action largely stalls out when the two women go horizontal, as it is not where they normally compete. Nunes keeps tightly wrapped around Lookboonmee’s shoulder, and Tognoni asks for more activity. When inaction persists, Tognoni stands them up. They proceed to rush at one another and get up close with knees until Lookboonmee completes a throw to dump the Brazilian to her back again. Lookboonmee steps over to hold on from half guard and flatten Nunes on her side. Nunes hooks her toes in the fence to try to improve her position, and Tognoni slaps her toes. Lookboonmee, meanwhile, jams down a number of left hands and elbows to stay busier than the last time she was on top. With 10 seconds to spare, Nunes explodes to her feet, and she hunts for a takedown that is not completed before the conclusion of the match.

Loma Lookboonmee

Angelo highlights Loma's evolution from a pure striker to a mixed martial artist with improved takedowns and effective grappling. He notes that Loma has out-wrestled opponents like Sam Hughes and has nasty striking and great speed. He believes Loma will out-grapple and out-strike Istela Nunes, who is on a four-fight losing streak and has poor grappling. Angelo calls Loma 'as close to a short thing as you're going to get' in women's MMA.

"I think Loma absolutely runs here she's minus 400 so 4 to 1 favorite I mean it is what it is I think she's as close to a short thing as you're going to get especially in women's MMA."

He believes she has improved her takedown defense during her hiatus and will dominate Istela Nunes in the clinch and at range. He dismisses Nunes as having a poor record and lacking the skills to compete.

Bruna Brasil vs. Konklak Suphisara
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Suphisara (-265), Brasil (+215)

Round 1
The lone women’s bout of the evening comes in the strawweight division, between two strikers with fairly different backgrounds. Talented Thai “Loma Lookboonmee” Suphisara (8-3, 5-2 UFC) will battle it out with a woman named Brasil (9-3-1, 1-1 UFC)—this is not a nickname, and the Brazilian’s surname is indeed Brasil—and fists are sure to fly. Referee Jason Herzog will be watching out for any errant blows, and he does recognize the ladies clapping their hands together before getting after it. Both ladies measure out with high kicks early, but the first landed blow comes from the Brazilian in the form of a solid leg kick. Suphisara responds with a front kick that grazes past her target, and Brasil times another low kick. Suphisara whips a kick to the side, and Brasil recommits to her thudding leg kicks that force the Thai to switch stances. They both trade body kicks, and Brasil swings for the fences but misses the mark. Suphisara punches her way forward, missing those, but ultimately connecting with the body kick that comes with it. Suphisara slams her shin on the lead calf of her opponent, forcing a stumble, and Brasil gathers her thoughts and spins with a kick that pushes Suphisara rebounding off the fence. Suphisara strides forward to plant a kick on the ribs, and she side kicks the rear leg of her foe. Suphisara catches a kick from Brasil, and she ties the Brazilian up to push her against the wall and elbow her repeatedly. Suphisara attempts a throw, but the taller woman regains her footing and does not go down. When Brasil escapes, Suphisara gets off a kick to her side. Suphisara sprints forward with another punch combination, and the kick is the only one that lands. A welt beneath Brasil’s armpit has formed from the powerful kicks from the Thai, and Suphisara aims a kick to that same spot. Suphisara hops in, kicks, and hops back, before racing forward against with a body kick. “Loma Lookboonmee” ducks away from a spinning kick to the body, and then evades a spinning elbow that follows suit. Brasil succeeds in pushing Suphisara to the wall, but cannot keep her there for more than a few seconds. Suphisara dodges a strike, ducks down and grabs hold of a body lock takedown to put Brasil on the mat right before the round ends.

Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Suphisara

Round 2
The strawweights bump fists before getting back to business in the second stanza, and Brasil is quick to crowd the Thai. Suphisara pushes her back with a front kick, and she swipes out a low kick that does not reach. Suphisara takes a punch and nails the lead leg to force Brasil to take a funny step, and she kicks the other side as Brasil’s leg turns red. Suphisara pushes off with the ball of her foot, and fires off a switch kick that is blocked. Suphisara catches a kick and replies with a harder one to the ribcage, and she glances a kick off the side before chambering and firing another to the same spot. Brasil goes after a leg kick, and Suphisara answers her immediately. Brasil sells out with a spinning wheel kick, and Suphisara sees it coming and slides to the proper direction to totally avoid it. Brasil rushes forward throwing hands, and Suphisara stands in the pocket and trades, landing with a left hook that stuns her adversary. Brasil glares and advances with punches, and Suphisara is out of the way and spamming kicks. Suphisara slides to one side, counters, and dips to the other to tag Brasil while Brasil is whiffing. “Loma Lookboonmee” continues prodding Brasil with kicks to the body, and she is cognizant of the punches coming from the Brazilian and defends against the lion’s share of them. Brasil catches Suphisara with one on her way forward, resulting in a brief clinch, but Suphisara pays her back with a slashing elbow as she breaks. Brasil spins and misses, allowing Suphisara to kick her in the midsection and leaps at her with a Superwoman punch. The sparring match of a round ends.

Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Suphisara
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Suphisara

Round 3
The strawweights come together one last time for a fist bump, and they get back to their exchanges of Suphisara kicking the body and Brasil looking for punches. Brasil lands one clean right hand, and Suphisara strafes to avoid eating more than one. Brasil lands a low kick, and she stays there too long and gets popped by the Thai with a right hook. Suphisara stays close to the fence, continuing to move, and Brasil’s strikes rarely land flush while Suphisara is connecting with her own offense. Brasil gets off a push kick, and when Suphisara crowds her, she spins away and bops Suphisara with a back fist. The unfazed Thai answers her with several body kicks, and Brasil cannot pin her down. Brasil fakes her way into a possible level change, and she is stonewalled by Suphisara. As they continue to move, Suphisara ends up with a partial standing back take, and Brasil hangs on with her right arm around Suphisara’s neck and under Suphisara’s left armpit. The commentary booth is so thrilled by the action or lack thereof in the cage, one starts discussing cracking his back. Brasil turns around and stays tightly pressed to her opponent, but she is so close that she cannot get off any knees. Suphisara shoves her away after some stalling and kicks the red and shiny section of Brasil’s torso. Suphisara takes her time and lands another kick to the same spot when Brasil does not do anything, until Brasil runs at her and body locks her way into a takedown. Suphisara sits up to stand and starts elbowing the Brazilian in the face, and the disappointing 115-pound pairing comes to a conclusion.

Angelo praises Loma's Muay Thai, volume, and improved takedowns, but notes she is undersized and struggles off her back. Bruna Brasil is a larger striker with power but poor striking defense and struggles backing up. Angelo thinks Loma's forward pressure and Muay Thai should allow her to tee off, but worries about Bruna's size and ability to hold Loma against the cage. Brasil has a significant size and strength advantage, with a 5-inch height and 4-inch reach edge. She should be able to use her clinch and grappling to control the fight, potentially finding submissions or reversals. Lookboonmee is a talented striker but may be outmatched in the grappling realm. The line at +230 is too wide for a fighter with Brasil's potential. Brasil by decision or submission.

Konklak Suphisara vs. Elise Reed
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Suphisara (-265), Reed (+225)

Round 1
The lone women’s match of the evening comes at 115 pounds, as muay thai aficionado Konklak Suphisara (7-3, 4-2 UFC) – known as “Loma Lookboonmee” in her Thai fighting name – battles New Jersey’s Reed (6-2, 2-2 UFC). The two have reached the scorecards in 12 of their combined 18 pro bouts, so referee Steve Perceval is ready for the long haul should he be needed for 15 full minutes. The ladies touch ‘em up, and Suphisara is the initial aggressor as she winds up with a nasty calf kick. She throws one with the other leg, and ducks back to dodge a spinning wheel kick from the American. The two trade hands in the middle of the cage, and Reed appears to be her opponent to the punch in one such exchange. The Thai fires off another low kick, and she fires off a kick to the body when Reed misses when her own flashy kick attempt. Reed gives one inside leg kick back, and Suphisara is quick to give it back. Suphisara chips away at the lead leg on the inside and out, working Reed over and evading most of the offense that comes back at her. Suphisara slips a jab and counters with an overhand right to stop Reed in her tracks, and Reed takes a quick count of her teeth and backs off. Significant welting has begun to develop on the lower thigh of Reed less than three minutes into the fight, but she is no worse for wear as she surges into action to throw hands. The offense leads Reed to push Suphisara to the wall, and Suphisara welcomes it as she knees her in the body. The two women jockey for position and look to take the other down from up close, and Suphisara throws Reed to the mat. Reed scrambles to take top position, where she sits on top in three-quarter mount as her nose starts to pour blood on her opponent. Reed manages to keep top position despite Suphisara bucking and moving, and she sits up and punches Reed in the nose while she holds on until the horn sounds.

Jack Dankoff scores the round: 10-9 Reed

Round 2
The two women start off throwing kicks, and they close in on one another. Suphisara ducks a right hand to circle around to the back, and she drags the American down to the canvas. “Loma Lookboonmee” quickly takes the back and gets her hooks in, and in an instant,
she starts fishing for a rear-naked choke. Reed struggles to defend the choke, gripping the arm beneath her throat but unable to loosen the vice-like grip that the Thai holds. Suphisara squeezes with all her might, and after a few seconds, she forces Reed to tap out to earn her first career submission
– all while becoming the first fighter to ever submit Reed. This is a big win for Suphisara, who notches her first finish since August 2018 while scoring the first stoppage of the evening with style points.

Denise Gomes vs. Konklak Suphisara
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Suphisara (-225), Gomes (+190)

Round 1
For the entirety of her young career, Thailand’s Suphisara (6-3, 4-2 UFC) has won two fights and then lost a third, but always bounced back from that defeat with two more victories. This pattern has continued into this strawweight scrap against UFC newcomer and Parana Vale Tudo – the training camp of women like Jessica Andrade and Karol Rosa – prospect Gomes (6-1, 0-0 UFC), and a win for the Thai would keep it intact. This likely fast-paced fight will receive oversight from referee Keith Peterson, and a touch of gloves comes before his nonsense-free eyes. Suphisara fires off a front kick, and the Brazilian answers immediately with a slapping leg kick. Suphisara responds in kind, and they mirror one another with their strikes. Suphisara counters with a clean elbow that opens a cut on the top of Gomes’ forehead, and her teep kick sends Gomes sprawling to the mat. Gomes climbs back up, and she spins with a wheel kick but is too close. With Suphisara closing in on her, she scores a right hand, and Gomes catches a subsequent kick. The Brazilian spins her opponent around and jams her into the fence. “Loma Lookboonmee” reverses position and takes her opponent down, where she climbs into mount in a hurry. The Thai slams down several vicious elbows until Gomes gives up her back, and Suphisara is hanging on in search of a choke of some sort. Suphisara flattens Gomes out, but Gomes is holding on tight with wrist control to stop anything from coming together. Gomes slithers out the back door, and Suphisara clings to a kimura until the Brazilian pops her head out. Gomes, in half guard, fishes for an arm-triangle choke in the blink of an eye. Gomes squeezes with her full body weight down, but she is not in the position that can get a tap. Suphisara answers the proverbial telephone to defend it, and as she does, Gomes jumps over to the side to lock it down. Gomes gives up on it to moves into mount, and she sets up an armbar and rolls to her back. Gomes throws her legs up with a triangle setup when the armbar is not there, and Suphisara slashes her with several elbows when the Thai gets space. Suphisara batters her opponent with elbows until the bell breaks them up.

Round 2
The ladies calmly saunter towards one another to start off Round 2, and Gomes throws first with an inaccurate head kick. Suphisara answers with a chopping leg kick, and her leg flies up high to the shoulder in a subsequent blow. Suphisara aims for a takedown, and she settles to topple over and put Gomes on her back, where she is already nearly in mount. Gomes drags her back to half guard and grips onto a kimura, and she succeeds in nullifying any additional strikes from the Thai. The sweep attempt fails, as Suphisara steps over into mount and pounds her with several elbows. Suphisara looks to take the back, but abandons it, sits up and returns to her feet. Gomes follows, and Suphisara greets her with a pair of kicks. Both women lead with fierce elbows, and Gomes crashes in to clinch before dropping to her knees for a single. “Loma Lookboonmee” defends it and works her adversary over in the clinch with knees and elbows. Gomes responds with one, and she falls to her back courtesy of a head lock throw. Suphisara, landing in half guard, starts to deliver some elbows to the dome. Gomes manages to pull Suphisara back to her guard, and she tries for a triangle choke of sorts. Suphisara stands and walks away, but she does not pay attention and thinks that Peterson is standing Gomes up. Peterson does nothing of the sort, and Gomes dives in for an unexpected takedown. Protect yourself at all times. Suphisara turns herself around to stay on her feet, and she frames off to peg Gomes with punches and kicks until the horn blares.

Round 3
The final frame begins frantically, as Gomes goes on the offensive immediately. Pushing forward, she drives Suphisara to the wall and lands a few solid punches. As Suphisara defends, Gomes spins with an elbow and blasts the Thai in the face. Gomes changes levels in search of a takedown, and the two hit the mat. Gomes tries to isolate a leg in search of a leglock, and Suphisara awkwardly slides her leg out of it but does not get up. Gomes jumps on to take her back, and she hooks the body triangle on her toes. Gomes starts setting up a rear-naked choke, and it is more of a neck crank as she cannot get a grip under the chin. Gomes keeps searching for chokes, but none are to be found as Suphisara defends her neck well. Suphisara explodes out of the position and right into armbar danger, but she shucks the legs out of the way and gets on top. Gomes turns and nearly gives up her own back, but Suphisara does not take it and decides to stand up. The Brazilian follows her to the feet, but “Loma Lookboonmee” immediately trips her out and lands on top. Suphisara belts her opponent with elbows as the blood flows freely from the UFC newcomer’s face, and Gomes can do little else but defend her head as she is jammed between the corner of the cage and the mat. Suphisara rains down several punches, and the final bell puts an end to this strange 115-pound pairing.

Loma Lookboonmee

Angelo picks Lookboonmee, citing her technical Muay Thai striking and improved grappling. He notes that her only losses came when she was outgrappled, but he doesn't see that happening here. He believes she will win the striking exchanges and can mix in takedowns. Angelo mentions the line was wide but is tightening, and he considered a takedown prop bet.

Loma Lookboonmee

Big Brady picks Loma Lookboonmee to win by decision. He states that Loma is the better technical striker by a mile and has improved with each fight. He notes that Denise Gomes is tough and gritty but very chinny, having been dropped and wobbled often. Brady believes Loma can implement her striking and possibly even get takedowns. However, he warns that Gomes throws high volume and has good recovery, so he would not lay the moneyline. He predicts Loma wins a decision, possibly dropping Gomes along the way.

Loma Lookboonmee

Loma has a decorated Muay Thai background and has added takedowns to her game, making her a more complete MMA fighter. Gomes is one-dimensional, relying on striking, and has shown vulnerability to grappling. Loma's cardio is better than Gomes's previous opponents, so she can mix in leg kicks and takedowns to keep Gomes guessing. Loma should win a decision or possibly a late finish.

Lupita Godinez vs. Konklak Suphisara

Round 1
For the third time in less than a month and a half – a modern UFC record – Godinez (6-2, 1-2 UFC) will return to the UFC cage to compete. This time, she is paired against Thai striker “Loma Lookboonmee” Suphisara (6-2, 3-1 UFC). The highest of any fight on the card, the betting line that this strawweight fight goes the distance is a massive -275 to -300 depending on your book. Referee Herb Dean is in it for the long haul if need be, and there is no glove touch between the ladies to commence the action. Instead, Godinez is ready to start slinging leather, with punches to close the distance and not allow Suphisara to get her kicks off. This forward movement does not stay for long, as Suphisara aims kicks to the body and head from range. Godinez goes after a head-and-arm toss, and Suphisara reverses it and puts Godinez on her back instead. “Loopy” springs back up to her feet, and they jockey for position against the fence. As soon another throw gets set up, Godinez breaks away instead and gets kicked in the chest by the Thai. Godinez scores a three-punch combination that ends with a back fist, and Suphisara shrugs it off and gets back to kicking distance. A kick to the body and one to the head partially land, and Godinez charges in to pursue a takedown. They scramble, drop to their knees, and pummel back and forth in the tight clinch. A knee gets through from “Loma Lookboonmee,” who staves off any takedown try and forces Godinez to again break. Suphisara goes up high with a kick, and when she puts her leg down, Godinez greets her with a solid right hand. Suphisara lets loose a kick that gets caught, and Godinez takes advantage of this with an inside trip that puts the Thai on her back with seconds left in the ground. Godinez cannot land a strike from above before the round ends.

Round 2
The round opens with Godinez pushing the pace with a punch salvo, backing Suphisara up to the wall. As soon as Suphisara tries to return fire, Godinez lifts her up and slams her to the mat, where she claims half guard in an instant. “Loopy” is quick to pass through to side control, and she puts her knee on Suphisara’s neck to slug her in the face a few times. This odd position allows the Thai to explode out, where she jumps back up to her feet but cannot get Godinez off of her. Instead, Godinez keeps a tight grip around Suphisara’s waist, even going after a standing rear-naked choke as she bullies Suphisara to the wall. This allows Suphisara to throw her over her head to put Godinez down, but Godinez springs right back to her feet as if nothing happened. A few heavy kicks get through from “Loma Lookboonmee,” including a head kick that may have gotten Godinez’ attention. To stop these from coming, Godinez snatches a leg and wrenches Suphisara down to the ground. In half guard, Godinez keeps her elbow pressed on Suphisara’s head to hold her down, and she lands a few left hands every so often. With Suphisara stuck with her side and then head on the wire in the corner between the cage and the floor, she twists to break the posture. Godinez follows her along, taking her back and considering a choke effort. There is no choke to be found, and when the horn sounds, they are tied up and need to be untangled to get back to their corners.

Round 3
Godinez stretches her arm out to offer a glove touch, but Suphisara would rather fight it out from the get-go. “Loopy” acknowledges this and goes down for a single, where she is able to plop the Thai down to the ground without much concern. As they scramble, Suphisara turns the tables to get on top for a moment, where she scores a few elbows. As Suphisara gets on top, Godinez hunts for a heel hook and uses it to turn Suphisara off of her. Suphisara is able to slide her knee out and get out of submission danger by spinning around, and she slides down into Godinez’ guard. A few elbows from Godinez on her back land to the back of the head, but there is no note of them as Suphisara continues to try to pass. Godinez carries on with elbows to keep Suphisara honest, and Suphisara responds in kind. Godinez is able to power her way back upright, and Suphisara clings to her and knees her in the thigh and midsection repeatedly. Suphisara jumps away when Godinez attempts to take her down, and Godinez gathers herself, pursues a double and slams the Thai down to the canvas. Godinez gets half guard with ease, and then she takes Suphisara’s back when Suphisara looks to stand up. Without landing much from above, Godinez cannot keep Suphisara down for long. They both rise up in the clinch, and Suphisara gets off a few short strikes before the final bell.

Loopy Godinez

Big Brady picks Loopy Godinez to win by submission. He argues that Godinez's loss to Luana Carolina was misleading because she moved up a weight class and faced a much larger opponent with great takedown defense. He believes Godinez is the much better grappler than Loma Lookboonmee and that Lookboonmee has been taken down and controlled in previous fights. He predicts Godinez will implement a wrestling-heavy game plan and find a submission.

He notes that Godinez has fought multiple times recently and may suffer from burnout. Lookboonmee has improved her wrestling under the Hickman brothers and has a striking advantage. Cody believes Lookboonmee can stuff takedowns and win on the feet, or even take Godinez down herself.

He also mentions Godinez has better striking than people give her credit for.

Konklak Suphisara vs. Sam Hughes

Round 1
Next up at the strawweight division, the woman known as “Loma Lookboonmee” Suphisara (5-2, 2-1 UFC) will try to match her career long win streak at the expense of Hughes (5-2, 0-1 UFC). Referee Jason Herzog will be on top of what could be furious action between these 115-pounders, and they are ready to fight as Suphisara fires off an early kick with no interest in touching gloves. Suphisara flings up a head kick that gets blocked, and she varies up her attack by kicking the legs and body shortly after. “Loma Lookboonmee” rushes in with a few punches and body kicks, and Hughes can do nothing but play defense. Hughes charges in with a double leg takedown, only for her to be rebuffed and pushed down to the ground momentarily. The Thai dumps her to the ground, where she resides in side control hammering down elbows. Hughes looks to kick off the cage to reverse the position, and Suphisara stops her and continues to mount offense. When Hughes gets her guard back, Suphisara climbs to her feet and backs off. Suphisara fires off a quick leg kick as Hughes rushes in for another takedown, and she fails on this attempt. “Sampage” gets off some “old school” foot stomps as she clings tight to a body kick, but this allows Suphisara to lift her legs up and knee her in the side. Suphisara quickly spins her around and throws her down, where she climbs on top to work elbows from above. As Hughes recovers guard once more, Suphisara bails on it to let her up. “Loma Lookboonmee” lands a body kick and one to the shoulder before Hughes can react, and the two throw hands as Hughes lands a few of her own to keep Suphisara honest. Hughes whiffs on a leg kick, and the Thai is quick to respond as Hughes is drawing her leg back. Hughes presses forward to clinch, and she aims for a body lock, and Suphisara hits one more takedown to end the round.

Round 2
“Sampage” rushes out of her corner to begin the second round, and she swings wildly until they clinch up. The Thai throws her down, and when Hughes scrambles back to her feet, Suphisara does it again. Hughes recovers from this mat return well to circle around and try to take Suphisara’s back, and Suphisara elbows Hughes in the head in a show of appreciation. Hughes transitions into a single, and Suphisara stands back up and spins away when Hughes tries to take her back. “Loma Lookboonmee” digs to the body with her toes a few times, and Hughes counters with a heavy overhand right. The two trade single jabs, and Suphisara backs off to pierce the midsection with her toes again. Suphisara nearly lands a superman punch, only for Hughes to grab her and clinch her up. The American squeezes her foe into the fence, and Suphisara works her body with knees all the while. A single leg takedown attempt from Hughes leads to a few more sharp knees from the Thai, who is largely controlling the clinch in these exchanges. Suphisara nearly dumps Hughes to the ground, and when Hughes gains her balance, Suphisara plants a knee right on the jaw. Hughes shakes it off and attempts a low takedown attempt, but she is rebuffed by the Thai. Hughes grinds her foe to the cage, dropping down for a double, and she transitions it back and forth from double to single. Suphisara elbows her in the side of the head while defending, and Hughes lifts her opponent’s leg up but cannot get anything out of it. Suphisara scores a knee, a front kick, and a body kick as Hughes backs off. Suphisara lets a high kick go that rings Hughes’ bell, and she lands a trip takedown to put Hughes on her back to ride out the round.

Round 3
Hughes takes the center of the cage to start of the final frame, and she gets kicked in the chest instead of getting her own offense off. Hughes comes up short with her own front kick, but the Thai’s range allows her to score another. Hughes whiffs with a one-two and a kick, and the feints and fakes from “Loma Lookboonmee” are throwing her off. Hughes chases after the Thai, and she reaches out with a few punches that get blocked. Suphisara has a right hand glance off the shoulder, and she presses into a clinch where Suphisara knees her foe a few times. Hughes aims to take the fight down in this clinch position, and Suphisara almost hits the reversal she has landed several times earlier this fight. Hughes is wise to the trip now, and she instead mashes Suphisara into the wire. Suphisara knees her on the side repeatedly as Hughes stomps the toes, and Hughes backs away but is out of range with a left hand on the break. Both women scores at the same time, and Suphisara eats a left hand and stares at her with her hands at her waist. The two exchange with heavy shots until Hughes ties her up, where the grind is once more embraced and the toes once more stomped. “Loma Lookboonmee” uses effective knees to the body in this position while staying upright, until Hughes frames off and tries to land a shot. They both score big right hands, and Suphisara shakes her head and follows up with another strike. Hughes jumps forward with a superman punch, and she just misses a big left hand. Suphisara sticks out a jab and slaps a heavy leg kick, and Hughes ducks forward to attack with another superman punch. This strike is one to close the distance, as she ties up the Thai in the clinch. There is a brief separation, but Hughes wants to stay glued to her foe until the final horn.

Loma Lookboonmee

Big Brady picks Loma Lookboonmee to win by decision. He highlights Loma's dangerous clinch work with elbows and knees, and notes that Sam Hughes is very hittable and invites the clinch, which plays into Loma's strengths. Brady acknowledges Loma's size disadvantage but believes her striking is levels above Hughes. He mentions that Hughes needs takedowns to win, but Loma's takedown defense and get-up game are improving.

Loma Lookboonmee

Cody is confident in Loma Lookboonmee, noting her extensive Muay Thai experience and excellent clinch game. He points out that she was competitive against Angela Hill, which counts for something. He thinks Sam Hughes looked amateurish in her debut against Tecia Torres and showed a lack of heart when she quit due to a cut. He believes Loma has the advantage in striking and clinch, and even if Hughes takes her down, she won't do it for 15 minutes. However, he dislikes the -375 price and would normally bet Loma by decision, but worries about a cut stoppage.

Loma Lookboonmee vs. Istela Nunes
BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Lookboonmee (-590), Nunes (+390)

Istela Nunes vs. Ariane Carnelossi

Round 1
There are now 10 fights on this maligned UFC Fight Night 195 card, one that is counterprogrammed against Bellator 268 in a few hours. We begin the event at the lightest division on the roster, when Carnelossi (13-2, 1-1 UFC) and her impressive musculature takes on promotional newcomer and fellow countrywoman Nunes (6-1,1 NC; 0-0 UFC). While Nunes is billed as a 7-1 fighter, the first win on her ledger the UFC is listing took place in muay Thai. The night begins thankfully with no nonsense thanks to referee Keith Peterson, and the two strawweights touch gloves before throwing down. Carnelossi immediately opens up with punch combinations, swarming the newcomer with a barrage of strikes. Nunes defends herself and backs away, but “Sorriso” chases her down and slams her in the face with heavy punches. Carnelossi continues to rage forward, and Nunes deftly slips back to land a leg kick, and she counters Carnelossi repeatedly. The two brawl it out and a few punches from Carnelossi draw blood from the nose of her opponent. Carnelossi pursues a takedown as she gets clipped, and Nunes defends the takedown by clearly grabbing the fence repeatedly. Peterson slaps her hand away several times and even grabs hold of it briefly to make her leg go, but she goes right back to grabbing it to stay upright. Peterson allowed a little nonsense in that situation there. Although Carnelossi is finally able to get her down her efforts do not reward her for long as Nunes springs right back up and gains separation. Carnelossi is not going to let her off the hook, as she blitzes towards her opponent with winging punches. She ends up clinching up again when considering a takedown, but the newcomer remains upright but gets jammed into the wire. Carnelossi keeps heavy chest pressure to grind Nunes into the wall, landing a few short shots but otherwise clinging on for dear life. Nunes looks to set up a Thai clinch with her back to the fence, getting off a couple knees and strikes before pushing off with a minute left in the round. Nunes starts spamming front kicks to the body, and they engage in a brief but nasty slugfest, landing flush on one another. Nunes takes a step back, scores a solid one-two and evades the counters. Carnelossi’s strikes are wilder while Nunes tries to compose herself, but defense is at a premium as they both land at a high clip. They tag one another on the chin with powerful punches, and right at the bell, Carnelossi lands flush and has to apologize because it might be after the bell.

Round 2
The strawweights pick right up where they left off, throwing hammers. Nunes strings a quartet of punches together, and Carnelossi answers with a vengeance throwing looping hooks and clubbing Nunes in the face. Carnelossi’s headhunting approach does allow Nunes to counter her, but the sheer forward momentum of Carnelossi pushes Nunes into the wire. Carnelossi pursues a takedown, and once more Nunes grabs the fence to keep her balance. Peterson sees it but does not say anything, and Nunes walks back up to her feet. Carnelossi embraces the grind up against the wall, with Nunes attempting to frame off and land strikes up the middle as Carnelossi remains pressed tightly to her. Carnelossi ducks down for a single leg takedown, and Nunes looks for a power guillotine on the way down to the mat but bails on it when her backside hits the canvas. Carnelossi keeps her foe’s legs trapped beneath her leg triangle, but Nunes slithers one out and then the other before making her way upright. Nunes stands, and she knees Carnelossi on the chin once, but “Sorriso” does not register the blow as she hangs on with everything she has. Nunes stays busy with her back trapped, punching to the side occasionally, and she sneaks out the side to break free and just miss with a head kick. Nunes pops Carnelossi with a few punches as she backpedals, with the shorter Carnelossi crowding her and never giving her space to breathe. Nunes lets loose with a body kick, and this draws a sharp exhale from her opponent, with the latter appearing to slow. Nunes chains punches into body kicks, and she clips Carnelossi with a right hand before Carnelossi barrels towards her and slams her into the ground. Carnelossi manages to score a few left hands when Nunes is seated against the fencing, and Nunes appears flustered as she cannot get up thanks to Carnelossi’s position on top. Nunes powers back to her feet, but she does not get free before the bell sounds.

Sherdog Scores
Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Carnelossi
Ben Duffy scores the round: 10-9 Carnelossi
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Carnelossi

Round 3
Nunes begins the round by circling away to escape the power punches from her marauding opponent. Carnelossi attacks without faltering, throwing big punches and connecting more often than not. Nunes sticks and moves, but she cannot evade every one of the hooks coming her way. Nunes pierces the midsection with a few kicks, and she ducks out of the way as Carnelossi charges at her. They both just miss with single power strikes, and Nunes gets off a right hand only to get smacked with a counter that knocks her back into the wall. Carnelossi uses this momentum to go after a single, and Nunes grabs the fence again to try to pull her way up as Peterson slaps at her hand. When Nunes looks to scramble, Carnelossi climbs on to a three-quarter mount before getting a hook in and partially taking Nunes’ back.
Carnelossi hunts for a choke, and she snakes an arm beneath the throat. “Sorriso” senses that this is her moment to strike, and she snags the grip with her other arm to lock the rear-naked choke in completely.
The forearm under the chin, Nunes looks around, fights the grip for a second and then surrenders. The submission win is now just the second of Carnelossi’s career, who lands her first since a keylock in 2016.

Istela Nunes

Angelo picks Nunes as an underdog but is hesitant due to her three-year layoff and USADA suspension. He notes Nunes is the more technical striker with speed and versatility, while Carnelossi is aggressive and strong but sloppy. He worries about Nunes' timing after the layoff but believes if she finds a rhythm, she will out-strike Carnelossi. He does not bet the moneyline but considers prop bets like plus 3.5 points or win inside distance/decision no action.
